A.W Tozier on prayer
I have been reading some books on prayer. This is a quote from A. Z.Tozer. " The man who would know God must give time to Him. He must count no time wasted which is spent in the cultivation of His acquaintance. He must give himself to meditation and prayer hours on end. So did the saints of old, the glorious company of the apostles, the goodly fellowship of the prophets and the believing members of the holy Church in all generations. And so must we if we would follow in their train.'

I'm reading "How to Pray" from him right now. That sounds like that quote may be from that book. How cool!
He has an incredible understanding on prayer, and my faith rises when I read stuff from him and also E.M. Bounds!

Have you ever read "Intercessory Prayer" by Dutch Sheets?
Incredible book!

Hi Christos I replied a couple of days ago but don' seeit here now. Anyway thanks for the recommendation for Dutch Sheets. I will look for that book. I just read a book by James Goll called The Lost Art of Intercession which had an E.M. Bounds book at the back. Very inspiring! Here is another quote on prayer that I like. It is from Catherine Martin When you pray, entire regions of your heart and soul and life are dramatically transformed through continuous times of refreshing. You may not notice a change in a day or a week. But wait and watch. You can eagerly look for such a renewal, as David says in Psalm 5:3 " In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch." Then you'll see what times of refreshing and rest will do in your life and you'll see how the change influences the lives of those around you. Anyone have any favorite quotes on prayer to add?

Another great quote Jill! Love it.

Here's one from S.D Gordon
"You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed...prayer is striking the winning blow...service is gathering up the results."

I've read two books on prayer:

The Power Of Simple Prayer by Joyce Meyer - very good book. She quotes A.W. Tozier and E.M. Bounds quite a bit in it

and

Intercessory Prayer by Dutch Sheets. Amazing book. Surprisingly funny and entertaining too. I think all of us in the windfarm should read it.

Actually I'd love to hear Brian and Dutch talk about prayer for a new hope of prayer class or something....
