In following your suggestion I agree however we don't have any forum cops here to enforce that law. People do what they do. Sometimes it has nothing to do with interest or disinterest and more to do with nothing to add to the dialog. I doubt it's ever personal. Ever.

I believe what John is saying is that when someone posts a suggestion, it would be nice for one of the administrators to respond with either a "yes", or "no", or "maybe in the future", and not leave the suggestion out there floundering and seemingly ignored.
I know I felt that way with my suggestion about an Unemployment section. I realized, later, that although the idea may have been a good one (in my humble opinion), the DAB forums may not be the place to have such a topic...just like the suggestion for a Dating section. It was rather hurtful to have my suggestion ignored by the "higher ups" at the DAB, though (at least until Tara so kindly responded.) I do understand that everyone is extremely busy with their personal lives, and so, after weeks of prayer, and fussing at myself for being so sensitive, I was finally able to forgive and move on.
If I'm incorrect, then please ignore me this time! Haha!

My humble reponse to this is that suggestions usually boil down to me. If the team knows something about one of them they will share what they know but this forum (for years now) has been more a repository for suggestions like a suggestion box and not a place for ongoing discussion of a suggestion. I do my very best to be responsive but honestly it's impossible to respond to everyone's post or email. It would be more than a full time job for that alone based on the volume.
So if anyone reads this and feels you've made a suggestion that no one reponded to please forgive us but this is a place to drop them off not to pro and con things. I actually implement anything that is feasable. Other things require thought and prayer while others are simply beyond the scope of the Daily Audio Bible. For example the DAB will never be a place to find a date or a mate as has been suggested. That's beyond our scope and mission. It's not an employment agengy or a Christian Craigs List or anything like that as has been suggested in the past. It can be a lot of things that people want to spearhead and lead to a degree but in the end we have a very outlined mission which can be read int he ABOUT US section. Anything that would distract from or move us in a direction away from these things we probably won't do. That's not to say they aren't cool ideas but the time, effort and resources required to begin initiatives or directives is not small and anything that will dillute the mission is beyond our scope.
In the future as we grow God will undoubtedly increase our ability to grow community and perhaps more suggestions can be accomplished but we'll never deviate from the paths that are our foundation. I don't know if that helps or not. I thought what John was saying was that every post on the forums needed a response not specifically here in the suggestions.
Blessings Brian

I read most of the suggestions, and they are almost always things that I have no control over. Sometimes the best I could say is "good suggestion" and perhaps that's what you're asking for? The DAB has many people behind the scenes, but Brian is right - a LOT of it comes right down to him :)

well let me first say thank you to the DAB team for responding to this thread. I was only referring to only the suggestion thread just to make it clear. Penelope response of what was really asked seemed to hit the nail on the head. Yes or no on the idea may be a bit much as the answer of no may hurt feelings but at the same time ignoring them does the same. To have a suggestion thread where its depended on readers to reply with no ultimate authority to apply them does not make sense. I dont think we needed such language of "forum police" even though we have moderators assigned to monitor them. The fact of creating community means being responsive thats all and seems to be in line with the vision of DAB. Not all posts in other threads need to be anwered, but if a suggestion thread is to be used dont leave them hanging. It can be a simple thanks for the ideas or have a permament note to the thread that says due to time issues not all ideas will be responded to, but we value your ideas and all ideas or suggestion will be reviewed and implimented if appropriate when DAB seems fit to do so. This would place value to all suggestions yet let one know that maybe none of the mods or brian will respond to them and that is been identified good or bad. Thanks for responding and telling us where your head is regarding the suggestion thread as it explains where your coming from. YIC, John

Done. This suggestion has been addressed and there is now a disclaimer on this forum. Tara and I used to talk about the day when we'd have more and more rules hoping to stave it off as long as possible. We've tried so hard over the years to just stay simple and let the community breathe because that's the heart of the place. Just simple community but over the years it's become so clear that when you put people in a room you have many ways of looking at things. Different stories, different assumptions and as beautiful as it is people gravitate toward misunderstanding.
I apologize to anyone who has felt ignored, left out or forgotten in this forum. Hopefully our shiny new disclaimer will help us avoid this in the future. I would never hurt your feeling on purpose. My life is given over to serving you. I love you.

In closing, once again I am thankfull for the DAB team in talking and coming up with a resolution for this issue. For the record my entention was not to lay blame or make the DAB team feel like they are not doing a wonderfull job in running and providing the DAB in the most positive way or make it seem like we have gone backwards as a community. Not rehashing, but to illustrate my closing thoughts when one posts an idea and no response was noted from the team then all readers as well as the poster wonder well it sounded like a good idea? Was it an option? Can we do it? And probably what did Brian think? Did he like it, or what? With that said it must be a hard to cover all the bases that are required in running this site, but I sense Brians hurt in his last post for having to post the disclosure and address this concern by his own words that the DAB would come to this point that he would have to take a measure of posting a disclosure like we have gone backwards somehow by asking for a response to our suggestions. I can see how responding openly to an open thread probably has a lot of remifications if not said correctly, so thats why I thought a discloser would be better and the team could respond privately to each suggestion if it needed response. I think my intention for the suggestion thread was for one not to have those answers running in ones head and never get an answer and feel like Penelopi and have to forgive due to bad feelings as they are feelings individuals have regardles of the reasons. As Brian says now no one can take it personal as the expectation of what happened to my suggestion one may never know, or has the expectation to know. It can be thrown in the air with no expectations from the DAB team thus relieving stress for an already busy team. I am not sorry for bringing it up, but am sorry that a milestone was reached that has been seen as possibly negative. Well as a good comrade I would like to express my deepest apprecation for all the DAB team does for us to make this a wonderfull community and move on. In DAB love, John <><
