Have you concidered moderating the forums? Thier seems to be a lot of bad/heretical theology allowed here.

ED,

I know you are not asking me, but I had a thought. There is also a lot of sound doctrine that rebukes bad and heretical doctrine in a conversational format. From time to time, our DAB pastor (Brian) will comment and set a sound biblical basis on a topic. In the meantime, unsound doctrine vary rarely go unchallenged by the community at large.

We do have a moderator, Debbie. We also can flag a post for review. I think the flagging option is for foul language and abusive rhetoric mainly. I wouldn't flag anything that seems to be heresy, just discuss it and ask questions.

It was asked just a few days ago, "is this forum just for fundamental believers"? (something like that) Obviously, no it is not. But rather it is a place for discussion, sharing, correcting, praying, praising, etc, etc.

Hope this is helpful,

Craig

The forums are moderated. It's also expected that the forums be "self policing." We step in when an argument turns from being vigorous discourse and into something that is personally wounding. There are some very "alternative" theological concepts that fly around here. I've personally stepped in on a number of occasions to defend orthodoxy because I do not find it to be a cell of imprisonment but rather a haven of safety. At the same time we need to be able to be considerate and to consider what God is doing among His people. We have the Holy Spirit to help us discern what is true and what is false. We can debate those things vigorously here with respect. So, for example, Ed if you feel something is being spoken heretically you can certainly say so and share why you feel that way defending your view with Scripture and history to back you up.

Blessings
Brian

Brian,
Thank you for those very helpful comments.
As one of those who sometimes posts unpopular,
some would even say "heretical", ideas,
it doesn't offend me when others with different views
engage in respectful discussion and debate,
and I believe I have generally been respectful of those who differ as well.
That's the way it should be.
And usually, in the end,
while agreement isn't always reached,
mutual respect tends to grow,
and even some common gound is often discovered.
That's one reason why I consider DAB
to be an important part of my spiritual journey.
Grace an Peace,
Lanny

Thanks for the answers. I was just curious and maybe a little concerned because a couple of threads this week kind-of alarmed me and I was wondering if anybody was watching.

Thanks for your concern Ken. I hear you and understand your question. There are several moderators besides me: Tara, Leslie, Jill, and if course Brian. Chet and Rob "moderate" the tech side if the board. We are always in the background, reading and watching.

The cool thing about this forum is that while I or you or any one individual may post or believe one way or the other, we can still voice it here. The Holy Spirit always steps up to the plate if God chooses. Always. He guides intervention in His own way through the vessel of His choice. Or not at all.

As Brian said, we choose to let this community grow, flex, struggle, and advance at its own pace through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He is the One that sets the boundaries because this is God's community, not ours. When called to interveine, we do  so, remembering that only God can reveal His truth to an individual and change a heart forever. We are only His vessels. From time to time we will post on a forum from our own perspective as believers only but not as official mouthpieces of the DAB. I think posters sometimes confuse our personal beliefs with that of this ministry. They are separate and apart - not an attempt to rule the forums by an iron fist.  The only "rule" here if there must be one is love and respect for one another. Our guide for life is the Bible, and our Lord is Jesus Christ.

I hope Vrian's words and this help clarify things a bit, help explain what you see happening or not happening on the forums. God bless.

The wonderful thing about this forum is that even if I, you, or anyone else posts or holds a particular opinion, we can still express it here. If God so decides, the Holy Spirit will always stand up to the plate. Always. He directs intervention in His own fashion via the instrument of His choosing. https://slimerancher2.io

It's the only post I've found to be of any use. Excellent work on both the text and the explanation. I appreciate the help you've provided. Really helps me out, and I like it to no end.
