Yes I do pray . More than I did before my brother died . I would pray in the morning before work and a quick prayer before bed . Now I pray a bit more and take every opportunity I can pray with family and friends . It help us stay connected and grow closer . The death of my brother has been a devastating blow to my family . He is my younger brother and we were very close . I'm trying to be strong and lead my family and my extended family , and still try to heal and go through my grief . It's very hard at times. I am a pretty new Christian . I was baptized about five years ago and I come from a past of drug use and all the stuff that life style brings . Though I have been clean for about nine years . Didn't mean to type that much . Thanks for the replies all :)

Brandon~ Welcome to DAB...you are in the right place for your journey. I am also sorry for the loss of your brother and pray that as you grieve you are comforted along the way by God and his mercy, grace and love. There is so much in His Word for us. Give yourself time take everything a step at a time, like so many of the stories in the old testament. Moses got up early to meet with God and did the next thing that God would ask of him. Not the next 5 things on the list, just the next thing. I love that Moses was such a real human being! It gives me so much hope for me and my life. I have looked through my journal to give you verses, but I can't find them! I know its all in Exodus though! It even said step by step about Moses journey with those crazy Israelites! I can't find my verse but I found this one for you:
Exodus 12:42 On this night the LORD kept his promise to bring his people out of the land of Egypt. So this night belongs to him, and it must be commemorated every year by all the Israelites, from generation to generation.
We all have an Egypt in our life that we have to leave behind and walk through the desert to get to our promised land and when we get to our promised land, it ain't easy either, then we have to claim it over and hang on to our "new beginning" of sorts...So as you grieve remember it's a walk Brandon and you may feel like you are heading back when in reality you are still moving forward its just another part of grief you have to walk through to get to the promised land of healing and restoration. I haven't lost a family member in the same way. The only way I know a smigen about grief is through divorce and having my family being blown apart. I know grief is hard. People around you may or may not understand that and expect you to be finished before you are...they don't understand that it's a process and you are in it.
God is with you and He won't leave you alone. You may feel alone, but He is there, HE is who He says He is...stand in His truth. Mark up your bible during this time. Make notes, dates by verses...Its His way of taking you through it and then don't forget what He gives you...memorize those verses and keep them in your heart, so when the waves of grief hit you, you can hold onto Him and keep your head above it all with your eyes on Him. It won't be easy...but it will be worth it. Rest assured.
Welcome and we are so excited that you have joined us. Blessings~ Leslie
PS Kerrie Roberts has the great song that is called Keep Breathing...she is on iTunes and probably this one is on youtube.
Its really good...sometimes that's all we can do is breathe and that's okay.
