Daily Audio Bible Exercise Plan
|
|
I began listening to Daily Audio Bible in Jan of this year and have found it to be an incredible experience. I am a daily listener and truly am growing because of this ministry.
On many days I hear prayer requests from several people dealing with weight issues. What I am about to say is not rocket science but it is working wonderfully for myself.
I have been trying daily I to walk for 30 minutes. One day it dawned on me that I could listen to Daily Audio Bible during my walk. It has been an incredible compliment to each other. While exercising there is no distractions from DAB and DAB makes the exercise pass quickly and painlessly.
I began this in Feb of this year and to date I have lost 17 pounds. Obviously, I watch what I eat also, but the exercise has been the key. I am now adding Daily Audio Proverbs and increasing my walk time another 5 minutes.
Not sure it will work for everyone but Daily Audio Bible combined with walking it is helping me both spiritually and physically.

Congratulations on your 17 pounds of weight loss, Terry. I know there is a DAB veteran/moderator named Leslie who has an amazing story to tell. She is big into Cross-fit training now. I wonder if she has anything to add to your suggestion.
Personally, I listen to DAB while at work when it's appropriate. Usually while painting signs or standing behind a saw. (I make wood signs and other wood products). It does make the time go by with a purpose.

Hi Terry! I am in agreement with you about DAB being life-changing. I don't think I have ever grown so much with our God in my life as I have through DAB. Craig mentioned me above...well. It’s been an imperfect journey and it’s a process for sure. I have found community in Cross Fit similar to DAB, and it works for me. It is hard work, but I love the opportunity to be challenged and face my fears. Just the other night we did partner carry's...after a crazy amount of work, and yes I was ready to bolt out of the gym...I was embarrassed that someone would have to be my partner and carry me. My coach however knew I could do it and partnered me up with this young man who was ready and willing to be my partner. There are more funny details, but I will keep this short... :)
After a mile brick run, tons of knees to elbows on the bar, rope climbs (my partner did those while I held a 25# plate over my head) and grasshoppers! (Dislike!), we did a 150 meter partner carry. I wasn't thinking and he carried me first DOWN the hill!! And then when we turned around to come back it was my turn to carry him to the finish line UP the hill! Did I mention he is 26 and I am 48! Lol! I guess I have learned much in my Cross Fit community. 1st: like you said, add more to your workout. You are adding time! That is important to staying motivated and seeing results. 2nd: do everything for time! Well okay almost everything...LOL! Jesus has been asking me for obedience in this area of my life for years. I am ashamed to say I didn't do what HE was asking because it was just too hard! Shame on me...when He died on the cross for me (and more)...How can I complain about taking care of my body and not responding to cravings and laziness....Seems so ridiculous!!I love that Keith Green song...Asleep in the Light...this is one of the lyrics that spoke to me... “Jesus rose from the dead and you can't even get out of your bed!" Or off of the computer, Facebook, or whatever it is that keeps my butt in the seat for wayyy too long!! I will be praying for God to continue to lead you down this path. That you will hear his voice in your life on your walks and that yes…that others will ask you! Which will lead them to considering Jesus, obedience and how their life stacks up to all that! :)
Nice Work Terry! And as we say in Cross Fit: You. Got. This!!

Terry...I have been doing the same thing since the first of January and have walked almost 400 miles this year with the DAB in my ears for most of them. I too have lost a significant amount of weight and am seeing physical, emotional, and spiritual changes that I never imagined. I still have a lot of weight to lose (about 75 lbs) and I'm looking forward to having Brian and the DAB at my side as I do it. Keep it up and thanks for sharing your story!
