Tell Us About Yourself and What the DAB Means To You
Newbie, former Atheist, seeking God
Hello everyone,

I am new to DAB, this is my first time through the Scriptures. Having been an atheist for many years I have gradually come to a belief in God, albeit not a God of any particular faith. However I have always been drawn to Jesus and so I have decided to listen to the Bible and learn more. I have been amazed by the deep sense of peace I have experienced so far while listening and am looking forward to learning from you all as the year unfolds :)

So glad to meet you Lilah! This is a good place to be...that peace you feel is the active and living Holy Spirit. There is a reason that Christians since the beginning of the Bible translations have called the Scriptures the Word of God. In the Gospel account of John, John introduces Jesus as the pre-existing Word. He wrote this account for the Greek speaking non Jews to come to knowledge of Jesus since there were already Gospel accounts written for Jews. He wrote this because the Greeks were familiar with a concept that they expounded in their thoughts, the idea of the word of the gods being an active force, something that John shows is accurate when looking at the one true God. Where I am going with this is that before Jesus was born as a man, He was always existent as the Creative power, the very Words that God spoke through in Creation, the Words that He spoke through the prophets, and also when God visited men in history like Abraham and Moses...this was the Word, the pre-existent Christ. The Scriptures are considered the written Word of God, while Jesus is the embodiment of the same Word. Your Bible gives you peace for in them they testify not just of God and the Word, but the Scriptures are very alive since it is the written for of Christ" in this way, shedding peace an understanding into your heart and soul....

Again, so glad you're here and I pray that God continues to reveal Himself to you and that you find strength in and faith as you see the validity and power of the resurrection of Christ from the dead...I recommend buying agood study Bible too...it would help you to decipher some hard to understand sections...

Blessings,

Steve

As HARDCORE atheist most of my life myself I hope you are staying with us! Please stick with it you will see miracles happening in your heart and joy that you could have never imagined from the simplest things like look at a blue sky. The last four years since coming to Christ have been the greatest and that includes leaving job, motorcycle accident, car accident and lots of family drama but still the greatest!
