Kidney Transplant for Father
Good morning, Family and Friends

My dad (Kenny) was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease 6 to 8 years ago. Doctors believe that it was caused by anti-inflammatories and/or Excedrin used to treat past injuries and headaches; however, they are not 100% sure.

In December 2014, dad was placed on hemodialysis and goes to the center every MWF morning for treatment.

Dad is currently on a kidney transplant wait list at UCLA and is being considered for the Scripps wait list in San Diego. However, being the O blood type is the most common blood type in California, it is also the most needed blood type which equates to a 8 to 10 year wait. Right now, my dad has about a 4 to 6 year wait.

Most people do not know that when you have kidney failure or disease, automatically both kidneys fail at the same time; it's not just one kidney. AND, we can survive with only one kidney.

If you are interested in learning more and/or being considered, OR, if you would like to help spread the word to others, please post this email on social media or feel free to forward via email to your friends and family in case they may be interested or know of others.

If interested in donating a kidney, donors are not required to be dad's blood type O; however, it does help. If not blood type O, one can still donate through what's called a "pair" system. Meaning, the donor donates a kidney that may not be a type O and the kidney goes to someone in need with the same blood type while my dad would automatically be moved to the top of the wait list knowing someone donated on his behalf. ALSO, most hospitals conducting the transplants completely pay for a donor's screening and the actual transplant.

Questions: Feel free to call my cell-909.522.7520, or message me; or, you may also call my dad's cell. Message me for the number.
