That is sweet! : ) Even though I am a Blackberry girl, I have many friends that need the DAB app for their iPhones!

Its possible that there will be a Blackberry app as well in the near future. We'll see how the iPhone app works first.

Leslie,
This thread reminded me that you were having Blackberry/website issues. Did you ever get that fixed?

With Christmas only a few days away, wouldn't the iPhone app be a great stocking stuffer? Any updates on "Coming soon. Very soon."?

Thanks,

Kid in candy store

We've hit a snag. The programming and testing with the App is complete and in all liklihood the App will release before Christmas but it will not help you on your 3G network. Apple has clamped down on every application (excluding Pandora it seems) that accesses the 3G network. There seems to be quite an outrage in some programming circles over this but it looks like AT&T has complained to Apple about applications that use excess network bandwidth over the 3G network therefore the DAB Application was denied. We had to go back to the drawing board and look at the options. The only option we have right now is to release the app but it will only work if WIFI is present.

A revision of the app will look for wifi and use it if it's present but if it's not then it will access the cellular network. We are going to try this as an update after the new year dust settles and see what happens. If Apple rejects that solution then we're stuck and have to consider low bandwidth versions of the Daily Audio Bible and WindFarm Radio Network for cellular use. Before we take those steps I'll need to do some praying and talking to all of you about who will actually utilize it because we'll be adding significantly to our expenses and production overhead. It can be done but we need to make sure it's something we're supposed to do.

The app iteself is free. If we have to go with what I've said above and create lower bandwidth streams of the DAB and WindFarm then we'll probably have to have a free app that uses WIFI and a paid app that can access 3G to help with the additional costs. I don't like that idea though. I don't like people paying for the Bible or paying to be a part of this family. I like people partnering to keep something going that God has raised up. That's necesary. The selling part I'm not so hip to so you see the need for prayers etc.

That's the update. The APP is coming and hopefully it will be here for your stocking. :)

Blessings
Brian

Thanks Brian for the App update - you know how to make me smile. I've been listening to the WindFarm on ooTunes radio and it seems to work even if I turn off wifi on the Edge network. I can try to test when I get back within range of 3G too.

With regard to bandwidth, I noticed that ooTunes has a bitrate switch in Player Settings that can be off or on. The switch indicates "Limit 3G/EDGE bitrate." Perhaps this is a possibility too.

Anywho, I'll be checking my stocking.

Rubber ducky,

Rex

Wow! I am in heaven. My son just came home from college and saw the new I Phone app was just made available! Thanks Brian! I am listening on my I Touch right now and happy as a clam. Tonight I can fall asleep in prayer and worship without having to place my laptop.
