The power of our words and an oops in chap. 26

Proverbs 26 has always been one of my faves and I was especially reminded today as Brian read how important our words are. There is that section towards the end that hits me everytime. Here it is in the NASB: 18Like a madman who throws
Firebrands, arrows and death,
19So is the man who deceives his neighbor,
And says, "Was I not joking?"
20For lack of wood the fire goes out,
And where there is no whisperer, contention quiets down.
21Like charcoal to hot embers and wood to fire,
So is a contentious man to kindle strife.
22The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsels,
And they go down into the innermost parts of the body.
I used to be a big teaser and then I would say I am just kidding! When I started reading Proverbs regularly this hit me that I am like a madman who injures my friends and then says was I not in jest. I also learned from this section that when gossip is going on sometimes the best thing to do is just stop talking about it. When we try and repair disinformation it just keeps the fire going. SO...vs 20 says: For lack of wood the fire goes out, And where there is no whisperer, contention quiets down. Well as I listened to these this morning i was reminded to watch my words. They are so powerful and can be used to heal or to harm.
Lastly I think Brian had an oops in this chapter. He said in vss 20 and 22 that the tablebearer...but it is talebearer. It is okay to work at a restaurant and be a table bearer! Thought that was a little funny. We all make mistakes. I have sure said some dumb things when teaching the Bible including saying the s curse word when I was trying to say sitting. Got a big laugh out of that one! Oh well I guess I am being silly even pointing it out. But here are the verses as they should read from the Darby translation:
20 Where no wood is, the fire goeth out; and where there is no talebearer, the contention ceaseth.
21 [As] coals for hot coals, and wood for fire, so is a contentious man to inflame strife.
22 The words of a talebearer are as dainty morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

Ooo the power of words. Besides what the Word of God says about it. I want to share my father tested the power of music with plants to prove to us kids that we must stop listening to rubbish. so he took a plant of the same kind, put one in one room with gospel music and let the music play all the time with the plant there, the other plant he put in another room and there he play this abusive down to nothing rubbish (at the time it was nice music to me... he he) We faithfully watered those plants and after a few days we put the two plants together to look at the difference. With the same amount of water given and sunlight evertyhing except the music playing the plant which got the gospel music grew larger, greener and healthy. The other plant had nearly withered up and died.
Well that is what you get listening to wrong music what more will it do to our bodies if we speak negatively to it. Something I have to remind myself every now and then is that GOD SPOKE THE WORD AND THERE WAS LIFE. It was the power of the spoken word. Everything was created by a Word God Said let there be.....
we need to be careful, the bible says we will be judged by this.
