Week 5 Comments here
As I challenged in week 3, "Ok, we’ve shared some easy cliché type answers, who will be willing to share the deeper, get real, most honest answers?”

I caught up, listening to chapters 3-5 over the past few days. I don't think I said this in the forum before, but I'm not liking what I'm hearing. :( I'm sticking with it, trying to pick out what I can agree with. Well, actually there's a lot that I can agree with, and I'm trying just to hear that.

Phyllis,
Thank you for sharing that. To be very transparent, sometimes it can be extremely difficult to accept any of this. I review the scriptures cited in each section many times, before accepting any premis. As stated in Week 3 “During my reflection on Chapter 3 it became apparent to me I was being tormented by a spirit of unforgiveness.” As with many things of this nature, they can be passed from one generation to another. (Exodus 34:7,20:5,Numb 14:8 & Duet 5:9.) When I shared this with a family member they became very offended and angry. I responded immediately by taking authority over the spirit quoting 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 out loud - its power was broken and cleansing tears accompanied. This family member even shared with me that it had been on both sides of the family tree for generations. Hallelujah, WE are both free at last! Now to overcome those learned behavior patterns. . .

This week, Page 95 states at the bottom "Many . . spend their lives accommodating their abusers, hoping someday they will finally live up to their expectations and receive the acceptance and affirmation they believe they must have in order to be worthwhile people.
Others decide to do the opposite and make a conscious choice to never be pushed around again by anyone, and they become rebellious. Both the rebel and the co-dependent must find their identity, acceptance, security, and significance in Christ and become the person God created them to be.

Both of these statements make 1Corinthians 11:1 take on a new application for me.

Pg 108 – Key concept - Our identities are not determined by what we do; they are determined by who we are in Christ. It is not what we do that determines who we are; it is who we are that determines what we do. . . .
Pg 110 Submission is primarily a relational matter between the creature and the Creator. When we know who we are as children of God, we don’t have to rebel, we don’t have to dominate and control. We yield to the Lordship of Christ, secure in our position in Him, and relate to others with love and forgiveness.

Don't accept it, if it's not Biblical! I'll be away until Saturday, but I'd like to discuss more when I get back....
