LOL, Aida,

I just posted an excerpt from Renovation Of The Heart to Alexandria on her thread (http://www.dailyaudiobible.com/Forums/Messages.aspx?ThreadID=1000022974#new). Probably one of my favorite books! Dallas Willard's additional writings on spiritual disciplines and prayer are good practical things to read through too.

Even if you don't have an iPod, iTunes is still something you can make good use of for those downloads; and the podcasts will just stay on your computer instead of an iPod. I'd be willing to bet you'd find them extremely useful, and engrossing and funny too!

Blessings!

oh Aida, DO get iTunes!!!

The download/installation is free and you don't HAVE to buy anything from Apple; in fact you can access a ton of free content for downloading and listening!

The Meeting House has a videocast, as well as an audio podcast. If you watch it on your home machine, there are things you can see in the visual teaching that make an impact, especially with the "Say What?" series. A DAB brother here recently told the DAB Men's Forum that he downloaded a whole year's worth of things from The Meeting House from January 2010 up till now, and was challenged and invigorated by it. My understanding is that he's been on The Meeting House Facebook page for distance groups/connections, which is another option for us all. Just FYI, anyway... :-)

Praying with you,

Tom

I have been unchurched for approximately 4 years, and allowing myself that, allowed me to open my mind up to new and "unconventional" ways of worship, I have not started looking yet, I was raised Catholic, primary school, all the sacraments taken, my children baptized Catholic, they received all there sacrements up into adulthood, in the western United States, it has become very lay people oriented, because the lack of priests which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the sacredness of the eucharist for one thing has gone by the wayside, the way I was raised was that the PRIEST was the only person "Holy" enough to touch it, with the AIDS scare of the nineties, all of a sudden you were receiving the host in the palm your hand....... The sacristy candle which represented that Christ was alway present in the church, became a fake electric candle, as did the prayer candles..... seems it became a business at the end of my participating Catholicism, Where was the faith? Intimidated by insurance companies, regarding liabilities to me if God wanted his church to burn down, it would have regardless if there was fake or real candles, the PRIESTS asked to see you bank accounts before they would allow your babies to be baptized, as to see if you would tithe, I can go on and on, but I won't... this is no disrespect to any practicing Catholics here, but I have chosen to call myself at this stage in my life as a Non Denominational Christian...... I don't know what life would be like in Boston or any of those great Catholic communities, or what the Bible Belt states would be like either, but for me, this is and other websites, podcasts have given my so much more than a building with four walls could have done, just my thoughts on the matter. Thank you for the opportunity to type this.

Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing these thoughts and your church experiences in this thread.
I'd like to invite you to read these verses in light of the thought that we are the church, the body of Christ, made for HIS purposes:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20cor%2012:12-26&version=NIV
It's my understanding that all about us is a two-way relationship as it is written in the Book. I'm not actually trying to convince you to attend church, just transmitting a thought for you to ponder, nothing more. Don't mean to be an intruder of your spiritual decisions.
I've personally found out that fellowship and giving are essential for my spiritual life and my relationship (not religion) with my LORD.

Estrellita;
Thank you for sharing that with me, I appreciate your good intentions and I know that God will direct me to a real place to fellowship with my fellow "Christians" and I have been praying for that direction. So I have just put it in Gods hands, and I will wait patiently, in the mean time, wow, what I have experienced is beyond anything I can verbalize, I am taking Old Testament classes, I am listening to the Bible here everyday, I am 52 years young and feel literally "Born Again" with my eyes wide open and not bogged down (by my own choosing, of course) with limitations, rituals, mortal and venial sin guilt, ....... that I had allowed to place myself in the "box" of religion. But once again, thank you, for acknowleging my post, and commenting, EVERYTHING here is elightening to me and a source of peace....

For me it is, (and after a long time of rebelling), totally submitting myself to him. This includes asking for his will to be done not mine. Giving him all of my troubles completely over to him. Talking to him constantly throughout the day. Hearing his word daily,(Thanks DAB for that). Yearning to know him on a more personal level. Sharing him with others...I could go on and on, It's a daily walk. Everybody's walk is different, but when it's from the heart, it's genuine, for God knows our heart. And it's the best feeling ever, knowing theres nothing to fear, nothing to worry about, being content and...Grateful your a child of the most high, and your blessed to have an advocate in Heaven named Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. It's a long road. A hard road. But one you'll cherish each time you look back and see how much you've grown in time. It's really simple. But we as people, choose to make it hard. It's taken me 8 years to realize, I'm the one who's making it difficult.
I'll pray for you. Enjoy your walk!

Cal-Texan:
Thank you so much for bringing my thread to my attention again, it was good to go back to it now, and I added to my journal some of your words (as I did with others) - in 1st person- because they touched my soul.

Thanks for your prayers, my walk feels the same as I stated at first, but now I'm not looking down to my feet, but up to the very far end, the Light.
Thank you again!
