LONG WALK 2011 Stories

Better Late than Never
By far the most intense part of this year's Long Walk was just trying to get there. Every time I thought I was going to be able to get away, something crazy came up, whether it was family showing up to help work on house renovations, or having to take my son to the clinic for an ear infection that refused to leave. So it took five days, but when the kids were finally healthy enough to accept the invitation to play with their cousin for the day, I took off like a rocket! I headed out to Presque Isle park. It's this big chunk of land the juts out into Lake Superior. Beautiful spot, but I didn't want to go there. I ALWAYS go there, and when it's nice out, so does everyone else. But I didn't have time to go exploring this year the way I have in the past. So I set out, and the first thing I did was pour out my hundred questions to God. "How do I handle this? What should I do about that?" And God said, "Nope, not today. You've been battling this stuff hard enough lately, I've got it. Today, just relax and enjoy. I've got something to show you." I found this trail that I had never seen before, the whole north side of the isle is a big cliff, and the main road steers well away from it. This path took me closer to the edge, through thick woods to stunning views from the tops of the cliffs, from red sandstone cliffs to the volcanic Black Rocks. It felt like Christmas, so many pieces of Gods creation that I had never seen before. It was awesome!

Here are my pics... hope you enjoy. :) http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2245603224790.132935.1389424693&l=930c9aa3ad

Heidi,
Sorry I am so late in my response...

Your pictures were wonderful...and it was so neat that you heard God say 'rest' and He is handling it all for you (all those burdens that seem to pile up). Amazing that He would also give you new vistas to reflect on His glory and splendor. He truly is the Giver of all good things...and He is a God who desires us to lay down the burdens and go deeper with Him in trust and obedience. Thanks for sharing!
