My boss
Saw Andrew's post and thought I'd share a story about my boss.

Long story short, she has money. Lots of money, but you wouldnt know it unless you got to know her really well.

We were sitting in a courthouse in North Texas, in a large metro area, in the cafeteria eating lunch. We were there to testify in a criminal trial and were pretty much keeping to ourselves so as to not intermingle with the jurors.

She looks at me and says, "Go ask that man if he's hungry, if you can buy him something for lunch."

Knowing the way she works, I do so. The man was scruffy, sitting there shoveling chips into his face from a bag in his hand. I ask him and he says "well, I guess I could do with some fries." I take him back into the kitchen area where you order and get your food, make sure he gets his fries, and send him back for a burger and then again for a drink. My boss comes up when no one is watching and presses some money into my hand and walks away.

I pay for the meal, pat the guy on the back and go back to our table without a word. No biggie.

What I didnt know, that my boss caught was that guy had walked up to one of the attorneys lunching in the cafeteria and asked if maybe the attorney could spare him a couple bucks for something to eat. The attorney threw him the bag of chips that I saw him eating when I first walked up.

Through the grace of God and the situational awareness of my boss, I got to be an angel of God that day. Thank you God, and bless my boss!

That's a great story and lesson for all of us. "Situational awareness" is a terrific social skill to have.
