Need Encouragement?

Ugh!
I have been working with good success on a 21 day fast from complaining. Today was day 21! Huge victory.

Then I get a visit from a rep from our company and in spite of great efforts and a long history of success with the company, an inexperienced newbie totally discouraged me and my team. Nothing positive to say. No encouragement. Everyone feals so discouraged and deflated. I am hurt.

Some words of encouragement would mean a lot.

Thanks and blessings to you.

Hi Bing,

I thought this post was great. A 21 day fast from complaining then you posted a complaint about the newbie. So here is some encouragement... you're not alone. I've done some self-abstaining from things that I thought would do me some good for self-improvement purposes. There's nothing wrong with doing that but it's hard to sustain without a foundational change. I believe that starts with the knowledge that God loves YOU.

With God's love for us as a starting point, everything else good can be built upon that foundation.

Hang in there as we journey through the Bible together. It's the written experience of God's love for us and world through history.

Thanks Craig. My heart melted when you reminded me of God's love for ME! That was much better than any other encouragement I could imagine.

The 21 day fast was more of an awareness thing. I have a bracelet I would move from arm to arm each time I would allow myself to dwell on any thought that was basically ungrateful. This would remind me that God provides what I need. So it was more of a reminder of His love than an exercise in self control. It worked wonderfully. I saw a dramatic change, though of course this is a lifelong work in progress.

Man. Thanks again for the encouraging words.

That is awesome!! I am super impressed. Complaining is a BIG struggle for me, especially at work. I work with a very negative team and get caught up in a trap of complaining when they drive me crazy. I can honestly admit I don't think I could do it. Take strength from your accomplishment. None of us are perfect....praise God for his mercy and grace. God applauds your efforts to focus on HIM!

Thanks RaceGirl.

Just prayed for your work situation. Something I did for awhile that helped was to write down at the end of the day all that had went well that day and what that meant to me...helped to focus on what I had rather than what I didn't have. Again...still a work in progress.
