Rules for Posting
Earlier today,
I requested removal of a thread,
and it was apparently removed.
The initiator of the thread has since expressed great displeasure
over my request for its removal.
I explained that the Administrators have always been very sensitive
about not opening up the Forums to political topics,
though I don't believe this is spelled out in the rules.
I do know that you are very hesitant to do anything
to limit discussion or freedom of expression,
and removal is a very rare occurence.
SoI think it would be helpful here
if one or more of the Moderators
would say something about this
in order to avoid confusion or hard feelings in the future.
Thank you.

Grace and Peace,
Lanny
Thank you.

P.S. The exchange from the offended party and my explanation to him
can be found under the topic, "Old Testament/New Testament questions".

Here is how it works. There is a RED FLAG next to each post. If it is offensive the community can red flag it so that we can take a loot and either allow the post to remain or leave it off the forums. I'm just getting back from Israel so I haven't seen this post and have no idea about it. What I can say is that normally we don't allow heavily biased political views on the forums here. There are plenty of places to fight out your political agendas on the internet. In fact, there are plenty of Christian places on the internet to do this. At DAB we are trying to keep the focus on daily interaction with Scripture and building community around that. This encompasses all of life so the forums talk about all sorts of things and once in awhile vigorous debate happens. When a disagreement breaks out we usually try to observe whether things are focused on the issue or are becoming personal. When things get personal we step in. It's not helpful to do battle against a brother or sister in Christ that you disagree with. Not in a forum context. Politics are always a touchy subject and we need to be sensitive that Christians can be on either side of almost every issue.

Thank you, Brian.
That was very helpful.

Hi Brian,

I have read your views concerning the posting of political material and I will respect them in the future. For the record however, Mr. Carlson was the only individual who responded to my opening post. As far as I am aware, no one in the community found it offensive but him. I simply meant the piece to be informational in nature not something for debate. He appealed to the moderators to have it removed and it was removed. Before I had a chance to respond, it disappeared. Perhaps the moderator who removed the piece anticipated a problem, I don’t know. If that’s the case, I’m fine with that. One person does not a community make.
