What's this about? This is an excerpt from my wife's blog to explain...

I have consolidated my professional blog and personal blog in attempts to consolidate my sanity. Therefore, this blog is a compilation of my experiences as a

* Mother of 2 (ages 4 and 11 months) who is considering homeschooling

* High school science teacher

* Educational STEM researcher
* Author of the STEM Student Research Handbook

This means that the STEM activities I share are for the two extremes; early childhood and high school. It means, one day I may post about making baby food, and the next about the philosophical state of the American school system. This is my life, and for what its worth, I'm going to share it with you. Let's enjoy the ride.

What is STEM?

The acronym itself stands for a vast number of topics. The "S" in STEM stands for science. STEM research in science may include any combination of the following; chemistry, geology, ecology, biology, physics, health, or agriculture. The "T" in STEM stands for technology, which is interpreted differently depending on who is using it. To some, technology refers to computer technology, computer programming, and computer science. Still others use technology to mean information, communication, transportation, manufacturing, or construction technologies. The "E" is for engineering, which refers to chemical, mechanical, electrical, civil, nuclear, or transportation engineering. And lastly, the "M" in STEM refers to Mathematics. The "STE" would not be able to function without the "M." Mathematics is the tool by which the other disciplines in STEM accomplish their tasks.

I hope you enjoy and post a comment on the blog for her encouragement!

Hi Craig,
Very interesting, I had a look and read some of the posts, pictures weren't loading for some reason for me, but I'm guessing it's my filter doing something. So are you guys homeschooling or still considering? How's that going for you?
Keep on keeping on!

We will do a trial run at homeschooling this spring/summer since our local school district doesn't have pre-registration. My wife is very passionate about learning, but it use to be just in secondary ED. Now it's in primary ED as well. Therefore, she is researching all sorts of styles, programs and theory to see what would fit well for our son and our lifestyle. Besides that, it's fun for all of us to explore these things.

I haven't run into any trouble loading images. It could be your filter. Thanks for looking around too.
