Bible Questions and Spiritual Discussion

Personal relationship
Ever notice how the Bible is more focused on our relationship with Christ than it is on what we do? In today's Bible reading Balaam shows us that it is about being with Him and not acting what looks good to man and Him. Righteous is spoke about much in the Bible, Old and New Testament, which means being in right standing. I not saying that we are suppose to talk about Christ but the ideal that Christ gave was that we are let the Holy Spirit speak through us.

When we try to plan what we are going to say then we became like Balaam. Which gives room to the Enemy to put words and thoughts into our minds that sound good. When we walk with Him closely and listen for Christ's voice shows Him how we love Him. I don't know about you but when I am in love with someone I talk about them just because of the love.

A wise insight, Ross.

I love how we can see ourselves in the Biblical characters. Balak doesn't get the answer he wants from God - so he keeps asking repeatedly, in the vain hope that God will change His mind. Don't we do exactly the same thing in our prayers - 'We can't have been hearing clearly'?

Then, since Zechariah was a priest he should have known the story of Abraham, Sarah and Isaac extremely well. Was he thinking in his heart what Christians think too often today - Oh, that sort of thing happened in Biblical times, but it can't happen now? I felt challenged by that, because we have even less excuse than Zechariah had - we have Jesus' promise, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.' (John 14:12)
