PASSAGES

Passages in Audio
My wife bought the audio version of Passages (Audible.com). She finished, and wants to listen through again, while I listened to the first 8 chapters while walking 18 miles this past weekend. First, the book is a pleasure to hear. Brian reads it himself (who else could do it better?). There is a lot to chew on in the book. Chapter 8, especially for me(concerning our legacy to our children). Each chapter is punctuated by a story from someone whose life course has been altered by a daily rhythm of hearing the scriptures read. There is some very interesting observations on how recent is the widespread use of the written word in human history. Much of the scriptures are stories and poetry delivered to an oral and aural culture ... what is lost by the silent & isolated reading which is the context for so much of our scripture reading today? Great food for thought.

Amen and agree. Great read... I've listened to it multiple times.
