No coffee or Diet Coke
I live in Seattle and my family just does not drink coffee or tea. We try to resist anything that causes an addiction. We all so have found caffeine to create some health issues. Just wondering if anyone else has similar experience?

I have to drink decaf because caffeine can throw off my electrical signals and cause tachychardia, but beside that I love it. Lots of antioxidants. Occasionally I'll have decaf green tea as well. I just make sure to rinse my mouth out after coffee or tea, or have some gum, to neutralize any acidity.

I have been drinking about 6 cups of coffee or more a day for more than 43 years. I underwent 14,000 dollars worth of medical tests when I was 55, I'm 58 now. I think Ted may have a valid point on the electrical system for your heart being affected by coffee. The right side electrical bundle to my heart does not work but is compensated by the left side going down around the bottom of my heart and back up to the right side completing the circuit for both sides. I have as a result a strong beating heart, praise God. The other side of the coin is all my arteries are completely clear in all parts of my body. I think, as the research on heavy coffee drinkers says, that coffee with all the antioxidants it contains is the reason for this. In spite of the only other thing all those tests showed, my bad cholesterol count is a little high at 210. Also I rarely ever get sick with anything more than a cold. The research also showed that people that drink only a cup or two a day have no benefit or deficit from coffee unless they already have high blood pressure or a heart condition as coffee can raise blood pressure and elevate electrolytes.

Wow, David, sounds like we could be related. That's even my cholesterol count.

LOL Ted, I wouldn't doubt it.

I think every body is wired differently. I stopped drinking coffee because of health issues. Not everyone is the same. Rick I personally think that it is a good thing to stay away from stimulants like coffee, tea (unless it is herbal tea)and coke etc. I personally concentrate on an overall fresh food and drink diet. My skin has changed and I have far more energy.

I gave up coffee at the beginning of Jan 2014. I drink green tea instead. Lots of it.
I just love what it's done for my health. In fact I only drink water, green tea and seltzer water. That's it!

I think that if you want to watch what you use, go ahead. I have been drinking pop and coffee most of my life. I'm 54 and I just had my heart checked and it's very strong and my cholesterol is in the perfect range. I am far from being in perfect shape, but I feel great. My grandmother drank coffee all of her life and lived to 94. I love tea and water also. I guess what I'm saying is, if it bothers you, don't use it.
