How did Jethro get there?
This phrase from yesterday made me wonder:

Ex 18:5 Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, together with Moses’ sons and wife, came to him in the wilderness, where he was camped near the mountain of God.

Isn't that interesting? I know the location of the mountain is a mystery, but the sentence makes it sound fairly close to Midian, otherwise this casual visit doesn't seem very practical. I'd heard some evidence for the mountain being in southern Saudi Arabia, but this line makes me wonder. People are coming and going to the camp? I guess I always had the vision of it being a very secluded journey and I don't know why. Probably the idea of the wilderness being such a desolate environment. That doesn't seem to be completely true.

Exodus chapter 3 places Mount Horeb, :The Mountain of God" in the area of Midian or northeast Arabia. This is much more likely a spot for the sight where God gave the Law to Moses and well known to Jethro and any others from that area.
