Bible Questions and Spiritual Discussion

Walking in the Spirit.
Hi everyone, I would be very interested in hearing what each of you consider is "walking in the Spirit"? I have been a christian for many years and have received the baptism in the Holy Spirit. I love the Lord and read the Word and pray daily, but I do wonder what it means to walk in the Spirit. Does this mean that through out each day, one is always conversing with the Lord on all things one is doing and thinking about? Hmm, I sense the Lord wants me to get closer/deeper. I think sometimes I am living too much in the flesh as it were. My husband is not saved, so I can say this is unfortunately not a christian home, as it were. I look forward to your reply.

Galatians 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering(patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

Romans 12:1-2

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

These are good scriptures that have helped me to "walk in the spirit." As Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for our salvation we can only assume that He is the best example of what it is to walk in the spirit. The Holy Spirit is very much alive and very much a part of our daily relationship with God. Jesus goes so far as to say THIS about the Holy Spirit.

John 14:15-21

If you love me, keep my commands. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will bec in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

The Holy Spirit is Jesus, is God in us. As you seek God, you will see Him more and more. Accept the blessing of the spirit, seek God in His Word, and put it into ACTION, Presenting your body as a living sacrifice and you will begin to see the fruit of the spirit.

Jan,

There is a book called "Holy Spirit" By Billy Graham" this may help. Also, its fine that your husband is not a christian, You don't know how your prayers cover him and your family. I have heard "when God chooses 1, He sees the whole family." However, a Priest/ Rev./ or Minister can give you the answer on "walking in the Spirit" they obviously know the answer since they Shepard the sheep, they were anointed in the Spirit, this is not only a great questions but a deep questions (Book of Acts addresses this greatly).
