Time for Repentance
We are now in the time of Repentance Yom Kippur Sep 14, 2013 Day of Atonement and we are reading from Jeremiah 3 during this period.

A Remnant of unfaithful Israel are called to Repentance
God prophecies a New Temple and Throne, the Holy of Holies will be the city and its people.
God confirms that the Ark of the Covenant will no longer needed. At the crucifixion of Jesus the curtain concealing the Holy of Holies was eternally broken that all can have access to God the Holy one of Israel.
Jeremiah 3:14-18
14 You are unfaithful children, but you belong to me. Come home!
I’ll take one or two of you from each town and clan
and bring you to Zion.
15 Then I’ll appoint wise rulers who will obey me,
and they will care for you like shepherds.
16 You will increase in numbers, and there will be no need
to remember the sacred chest or to make a new one.[1]
17 The whole city of Jerusalem will be my throne. [2]
All nations will come here to worship me,
and they will no longer follow their stubborn, evil hearts.
18 Then, in countries to the north, you people of Judah and Israel
will be reunited, and you will return to the land gave your ancestors.

(1) In vs 16 the sacred chest, the Ark of the Covenant was probably destroyed or taken away by the Babylonians when they captured Jerusalem in 586 B.C.
(2) In vs 17 if the Israelites become a faithful nation they will not require another Ark of the Covenant because Jerusalem itself will be His throne and Temple just as Gods people have become the Spiritual Temple of the Holy Spirit.
