Job Struggles

Need wisdom in choosing a direction concerning my job. Going to bed not wanting to get up for work in the morning is not good. I switched fields earlier this year due to not advancing in my field, IT Hardware/Software Support. Went to work for a friend of over twenty years. Have worked for him the past off and on he likes having me on his team. Thing is I am not experienced in the fields I have worked for in and is a constant learning of new skills.
What he wishes for me to do I do not feel qualified for and feel he is just keeping for the sake of our friendship. Not good for a working relationship with other workers.
In short I want to feel I am a valued employee earning my keep and not a friend of the manager. I need income for the next 15 months at any cost, but can make hard, required and logical decisons when necessary. Prayer in direction and wisdom.
