Nehemiah 5:14-7:73 ~ 1 Corinthians 8:1-13 ~ Psalm 33:1-12 ~ Proverbs 21:8-10
Today is the 13th of August. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It is, like every day, an honor and a pleasure to be here with you and thrilled for the reason that we could be here together, to spend these moments taking another step forward in the scriptures this year and allowing God to nourish us from the inside as we pore over them and invite his Holy Spirit. So we’ve been reading from the New American Bible this week and we’re in this incredible story of Nehemiah.

Commentary:

Alright, so continuing on in Nehemiah. I mean, we’ve covered a lot of ground the last couple of days, but very, very, very good advice and counsel just watching Nehemiah in his single-minded purpose and vision to rebuild the walls around the city of Jerusalem and how it overlays in our own lives. That is what we’ve been talking about the last couple of days. So we see some new challenges for Nehemiah. The wall is about done. The gates aren’t in place, but these same voices of intimidation, these same enemies keep coming to try to find a way to disrupt the workflow come to him. It is a new tactic.

“Come out and let's have a council. Let's have a summit on this.” In other words, “Come away from the work that you are doing and let's talk about this. Let's just talk this out.”

It seems reasonable yet what is embedded in all of that is the plan to capture Nehemiah, perhaps even kill Nehemiah. And so he says something very important.

“I am on this mission and I cannot come down from this mission. Why should I stop all of this to come down and talk about it? I'm finishing this job. I'm completing this mission.”

That is important for us as the voices of intimidation come into our lives.

So they continue with that tactic, trying to get him to come down and then all of the infiltration around this work becomes apparent, how they are trying to discredit Nehemiah by getting him to run and hide from an assassination plot. He doesn’t buy that either. He is fully committed to his mission. He is fully engaged in it. He essentially says, “Who am I to run and hide? What am I but a servant of God? I'm finishing this job. I'm giving everything that I’ve got to completing this job.”

And then there is the open threat that essentially says, “You know what? People are talking about you,” which is fantastic because it is something we can all relate to.

So he is on this mission.

“People are talking about you all over the place. It is going to get back to the king. You're trying to make yourself king.” In other words, “All of this wall you're building for yourself. You've duped the people.”

And there are all these voices from within and from without all around Nehemiah and he just doesn’t waiver. It is actually a pretty treacherous position for him to be in, but he is thinking ‘while I'm actually here on this wall, building this wall, I'm going to get every brick I can get in this wall. I'm going to get this thing done. They can say whatever they are going to say. I'm not going to make my life about trying to defend myself. I'm simply going to complete my mission and leave my reputation and leave what this looks like in the hand of the God who told me to do this.’

You know what? The wall gets rebuilt. The gates get placed. This dream that the cupbearer of the King of Persia had is done. It gets accomplished. It doesn’t get started and abandoned for any number of reasons that were legitimately coming against Nehemiah. It doesn’t get slowed down to the point that progress isn’t continuing to be made. So the job gets done. May we, like I’ve said the last couple of days, remember this because there are so many applications in our lives found in the book of Nehemiah.

Prayer:

So once again, Heavenly Father, we come into your presence thanking you for the gift of this book of Nehemiah, thanking you for the gift of your Word and for the counsel of it and the counsel is very close and very apparent. So we invite your Holy Spirit to come and plant this within our hearts and show us the ways that this applies in our lives right now and how we might respond appropriately. Come Father. We pray. We love you. We need you. We confess this most every day. We’re desperate without you. We’re lost. So we invite you wholly and completely into our hearts, minds, wills, everything we do, everything we say, all of our ambitions, all of our postures of heart. Come into all of our lives we pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Announcements:

Www.DailyAudioBible.com is home, home base. It is where you find out what's going on. Several things are going on. I mentioned this yesterday. I’ll mention it today. Just a Global Bible Read Update and, man, it has been a beautiful journey. It has been a hard journey. It's been a beautiful journey and we’re learning a lot through this beta test. But I went through every single one of these 800+ verses and videos and we were able to identify several, about 40 that for one reason or another, either there was no audio or the audio was just messed up in a way that there was no possible way we could salvage it, or for whatever other reason, the camera was pointed in some other direction or whatever reason, we identified several verses that there is no way to use these. So they went back into the system and are in the system and I'm inviting you. I'm sure by today we’ll have it. I'm inviting you to go check it out: Beta.GlobalBibleRead.com. Contribute your verse and literally be a part of biblical history as we continue to build this system to the point where we can together as the world read the entire Bible.

That day is coming. That is one of the walls I find myself on as I read the book of Nehemiah. There are a number of things that I think about and this is one of them, where it is like, man, this is just hard. This is just too complex. It's just too costly. It’s never going to get there. It's too much. But it is like, no. This is one of these walls we’re supposed to build and I'm not coming down. But I can’t build it alone and it’s beautiful. We build it together because that is who we are. We’re a family at the Daily Audio Bible. Everything we’ve ever done we’ve done as a community, we’ve done together.

So let's grab the remaining verses that are left in the book of John so that we can build out the other side of this, the side where you can see it all and then we can take our strides forward in this mission to capture the entire Bible this way. It is going to be fun and it is going to be difficult, but we can do it if we do it together. So thank you for jumping on that.

Another thing that we are doing together is launching the Reframe book. Reframe has been something we’ve been doing all year long and now the Reframe book that is coming October 1st. You can pre-order it now. It is important. It is important to the launch of the book so that it reaches far beyond this community that we do. So I'm asking you to jump on in and get a copy of Reframe and maybe get a copy for some friends so that you can go through it together when it comes out.

We have some nice things that we are offering to offset the cost of the book. The first film from the Reframe Film Series that we produced you get immediately as well as the prologue and the first chapter of Reframe to get going as well as a couple of songs from the project that Jill has been working on, the musical project that she has been working on. If you pre-order Reframe, you’ll get those things immediately to get started in the Reframe message. So just hop over to www.ReframeBook.com and you’ll get more information there. Thank you for your partnership on that.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, man, thank you. Thank you. It has been a long summer. Thank you for your partnership. It is how the whole thing exists at all. There is a link in the upper right-hand corner of www.DailyAudioBible.com or the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996, Spring Hill, TN 37174.

And, as always, if you have a prayer request or comment, (877) 942-4253 is the number to call.

Oh, and I forgot. Just a couple days from now, this Saturday and Sunday I will be speaking at the Penn Theatre in Plymouth, MI at the Heartbeat of Plymouth, turning my gaze and heart toward the Reframe message, so if you're in the area, certainly love to meet you. Visit www.HeartbeatofPlymouth.com for more info.

That's it for today. I'm Brian. I love you and I’ll be waiting for you here, tomorrow.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Hey fellow Dabbers, it's Joe, the police officer from Georgia here. It is August 7th at 4:41 in the morning. Calling in some prayer requests August 5th. To the lady that called, in reference to your friend that adopted the 3 children and is having problems with the middle one that is 14 years old, we pray over this child and submit the issues she is having to our Heavenly Father and ultimate healer. We surround her with our virtual prayer community and pray that she is anointed by and with the Holy Spirit. Christy from Kentucky, we want to rejoice with you in the seeds you planted and also in the blessing you received. God does look at the gift and the giver and how and where it comes from within us. August 6th, Linda from Alberta, Canada, we heard your plea for help in prayers over your daughter that is suffering from depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and also an addiction. We just cover her with many prayers and ask the Lord to draw all of these spirits and imperfections out of her and make her whole and healthy. We call out and rebuke all of these impure spirits’ actions and thoughts in the name of Jesus. I’ll call in with some more prayer requests in a minute, fellow Dabbers, but I'm still thinking about my identity in Christ instead of my worldly identity and how does Joe, Servant of the Most High God from Georgia sound? Ya’ll let me know what you think. Alright, love you all, fellow Dabbers. Thank you. Bye.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible family. Today is August 7th and this is Nydia from New Jersey. Let's pray. I lift up, in the name of Jesus, Heather from North Carolina. Heather, fear is false evidence appearing real. The enemy does not want you to experience God's love and peace to replace that fear and anxiety. (Philippians 4:6-7) Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. Let go and let Him hold you up and bring it to Him every time you feel it. Blind Tony, I'm just praying for your eyes and for continued inspiration and joy and love that you share with us and your poetry. Joe, the police officer from Georgia, I'm praying for protection and strength for you and I'm sending you a blessing as well. Elsa from Houston, I'm praying for your mission trip to Ghana. Brad from California, praise the Lord that Lauren is cancer free and healthy. I also pray for the Church of Holiness, for all the followers. I have friends who…we had a debate this weekend and I told them to listen to Brian read Corinthians and talk about we are not of Paul, we are not of John, we are of Christ. There is this faction. It's called Church of Holiness and they are telling their followers, this pastor is interpreting the Bible on his own. They can’t wear pants. They have to cover their head and they don’t believe they have the Holy Spirit. They believe they have to earn the Holy Spirit. They have to become more holy. So I just lift them up in prayer. Lord, reveal yourself to them. I just pray for all my brothers and sisters. Have a great day. Amen.

This is Dawson, Chicago area. Heather called in on August 7th. Her husband has left her and her two kids and she has felt that she has been a Christian most of her life, but has always struggled with fear and all kinds of things. She is looking to you, our Holy God, our Father. God, this is your child looking to you. You are the author and finisher of our faith, Holy God. She needs you, Father, to do a renewing, restoring, healing work in her life, in her marriage, Father. She is full of a lot of fear, Father, and loss and her husband is not walking in you, Father, is not a believer. Holy God, bring strength. Bring strength to this relationship. Bring strength to Heather's heart and to her family, Father. Bring your Word, your light into her life, Father God, so that she can walk in the renewal of you, Father, in all that you are, Father. If she has never even walked in it before, but thought she has, Father, make that life to her, the life of abundance that you promise, Holy God, to her and to her marriage relationship, Father God. And to her children. She needs you, Father. She is in such pain, Lord. Maybe she thought she knew you before and maybe she hasn’t, Father, but now is the time. Now is the time that she calls upon you, Father God, in her time of great need, Father God, and fear and accumulated losses, Father God. She needs you. Father God, hear her heart. We stand with her. In your Holy, Precious, Mighty, Beautiful, Majestic Name, the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Good morning, family. This is Biola from Maryland. I hope you're all doing well. Brian, I'm praying for your Reframe project. I will go and order something very soon. Everybody, go and support Brian and order the Reframe book, CD, Kindle. They have it on every type. Jill, God bless you. I'm praying for this ministry, that God would continue to bless the ministry. Rumbii, I'm thanking God for that successful surgery. I'm praying for full and complete healing for you, in the name of Jesus. Sister, I bind every demon harassing you, in Jesus’ name. Sister, keep casting down every contrary thought that comes to you in the name of Jesus. Every time negative thoughts come, use 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. Memorize it like I did. Use it as many times a day as you need it. Don’t be weary of doing that, Rumbii, and do not give up. The thoughts will cease, in the name of Jesus, for the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, so be encouraged. Walta, I'm thanking God on your behalf for your teenage son and pray for complete deliverance for him, in the name of Jesus. Officer Joe, I'm praying that God will bless and strengthen you and you will be encouraged, in Jesus’ name. That regarding your situation, you will so shine His light in your career, your marriage and every area of your life. Lastly, I pray that full trust would be rebuilt between you and your wife, in the name of Jesus. Drew from the Bay Area, I'm thanking God first of all for the provision of that part-time job with Uber, but I'm praying for you, that in God's perfect timing your full-time job which you desire will come to you, in the name of Jesus. I pray against every obstacle or hindrance preventing that job from manifesting, in the name of Jesus. Dear Lord, I pray that you have mercy on Drew and let your grace abound towards him, in Jesus’ name. Sinner, man of God, I have not heard from you in a while. I hope all is well with you. I pray that God will uphold you, lift you up, and perfect all that concerns you, in the name of Jesus. Sister from Australia, I'm praying that God would comfort that family over the passing of their child, that God would wrap his arms around them and give them peace. I'm also praying for divine __________ favor for you regarding that job interview, that God himself will put the right words in your mouth. God bless you.

Beloved DAB family, greetings. This is Art calling from Winnipeg, Canada. It's a mystical, drizzly August 7th morning. Thank you to all the folks out there making careful notes of each prayer request. I listen to them daily. I haven’t been praying as often or calling in as often, but I have been thinking of you all. It is astounding to think how much prayer is buzzing around for one another. I have a prayer request for my oldest son, Alexi, who is now 22 years old. He is doing well in many areas. He has a terrific heart. He is generally an excellent son, but I sense a void that he is trying to fill with socializing, friends, partying and all that goes along with that lifestyle, likely quite similar to a lot of young adults in our families. He seems to lack purpose and meaning in his life as he is not sure what he is working towards. I pray for him a revelation of the purpose of why he is on this earth. I pray that God would reveal himself to him and I pray that the Lord would place people in his life that would have him redirect his true life purpose. I pray for an insatiable curiosity for him to want to know his creator and understand how much he is loved so that the voids in his life can be completely filled with the Spirit of God. In short, I pray that his life may have a reframe of his true calling. He needs new friends. He needs a new and fresh environment, but like most young adults, he won't take advice from us as parents. I'm sure many of you parents of adult children are struggling with similar issues and I pray a blanket prayer over all our young adult children, that they may have a reframe in their lives and understand their true calling. Thank you, prayer warriors who have named so many of us in your prayers. Know that you are greatly loved.

I used to make a lot of plans and then I would ask God to bless them. I never stopped to seek his face, but I know I used to test him. And still he wouldn’t let me down. He's let me do things my own way and when I fail he would pick me up. He knew I’d get right some day. He has changed my pride to humility. He changed my doubt to faith. My desires now have purity and within his plan I'm safe. In everything I seek his face. I let him make all the plans. I trust in him to give me strength because the whole world is in his hands. BlindTony1016@gmail.com. Thank you for your love and your prayers. My grandson is healing up nicely and you know what? Tony T., the saxophone player that had the heart attack, he and I played together today for the dedication. It was National Lighthouse Day and they had a dedication in the lighthouse today and he and I played for the first time since he had the heart attack together and it was wonderful. God is definitely still in the healing business, so those of you who need healing, keep praying and have faith because God is still faithful, as someone just quoted from Lamentations, about his faithfulness. But anyway, Delta Alpha Foxtrot, what's happening on the Western Front, brother? And Marvin and Cynthia, what's happening out there? I haven’t heard from you in a while. Called your house. Anyway, I hope all is well. Love you, Daily Audio Bible family. Keep the faith. Love you. And thanks, Brian. Thanks, Brian, and I hope you got an audio version of the Reframe message because I need the audio version. Anyway, love you. Bye-bye.

Blind Tony's grandson, Denzel, Lord. And I lift up his daughter and I lift up Blind Tony, Lord. And I lift up all the other victims in the terrible accident that happened in Atlantic City. And I just pray, Lord, for covering. Cover. Cover Denzel. Cover Denzel, Lord, and heal him and just soften his heart and strengthen him that he can be a light to others that are in the dark. I just pray for his mom, for Blind Tony's daughter, that she have the strength and the wisdom to carry on and to just lean on you, Lord, because you can solve and take us and lead us and carry us and use this for your will and just protect us and love us all at the same time. So I pray for that peace and I pray for that healing for Blind Tony and Denzel and his daughter and for all the other victims in the terrible shooting there in Atlantic City. I just pray for love. Holy Spirit, just pour your love and your gifts upon all of us so that we can share them with those that don’t have them. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Dabbers, this is Forgiven up in Michigan and I just want to give a huge, major praise report. I called in a little while ago about my mother having cancer and my wife not even willing to go to her funeral because she was so mad at her. Through the grace of God and I truly don’t know how, there is no other answer, they had a long talk a night ago and they have mended their fences. It is incredible. I cannot believe it. And it is because of prayer. Thank you, every one of you. You know who you are that prayed for me and I really truly thank you. Today is the big day. My daughter is getting married and I get to walk her down the aisle. I'm truly excited and blessed. It's 4 o’clock, man, and I'm at the nail shop right now getting her nails done. God is just so good. He's got me on an absolute plateau knowing that my wife and my mother have mended. Oh my gosh! Thank you Dabbers so much. I love you. Man-o-man! Thank you.
