Nehemiah 7:73-9:21 ~ 1 Corinthians 9:1-18 ~ Psalm 33:12-22 ~ Proverbs 21:11-12
Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. Today is the 14th of August. I'm Brian. It's great to be here with you today. How is it wherever you are? Here in the rolling hills of Tennessee it is steamy. We have usually very steamy, hot, fertile (for sure), beautiful (for sure), but steamy, hot months of August and this is one of those. Hopefully where you are you are safe and sound. I'm safe and sound. It is just hot. Well, tomorrow we’ll be checking how it is in the north since I have to travel to speak up there and maybe it will be less hot. We’ll see. Maybe not, maybe it will be the same. I digress.

It is great to be here with you from the rolling hills of Tennessee where it is steamy. We’re reading from the New American Bible this week.

Prayer:

Father, we pray along with the psalmist. Our soul waits for you. You are our help and our shield. In you our hearts rejoice. In your holy name we trust. May your mercy, Lord, be upon us as we put our hope in you and we place all of our hope in you without a Plan B. Come Holy Spirit. You are our only hope for guidance in this world. Plant the words of the Lord from the scriptures in our hearts today that they might yield a crop that is of you, the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives. We entrust ourselves to you and commit ourselves to you today. We pray these things in the mighty name of the Risen Christ. Amen.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

How ya doing, family? It's Dale D., calling from Clarence, NY and I just heard Tony's call in about his grandson being shot and I wanted to say a prayer. Heavenly Father, please help this young boy come through the trial he is faced with right now. I would like you to make his path part of his testimony and then he can give out so much. Please keep appraised, Tony. God bless you and all you do. This is also a shout-out for all you people that listen every day and don’t call in. I do know you're out there because I am one of them. Thank you very much for all you do, Brian. Happy birthday, Ezekiel. I still remember the day you were born.

Hey Daily Audio Bible family, it's Dr. John from Jordan. I have a quick prayer request. My youngest son, John, is heading out back to school. He goes to school in Colorado and will be driving across country on Monday and Tuesday, the 10th and 11th and I would appreciate your prayers for protection for his trip and again, prayers for his salvation. On a lighter note, Christy from Kentucky, thank you very much for the shout-out 3 times! In the Bible when something is said 3 times that makes it very important, so I thank you very much. Yes, 8 years in the Daily Audio Bible and I am definitely not the same person I was 8 years ago. My medical practice is very different because of having the Bible in my life every single day. Sofia from Washington, you know that Sofia means wisdom and just the encouragement and wisdom that you distributed the other day was fantastic. Thank you. Always need to be reminded to keep our eyes on the Father and just rest. So anyway, thank you. You all have a great day. Take care now. Bye-bye.

Good morning community. My name is Leanne. I'm calling from Orange County, California. I have a daughter who 3 years ago was diagnosed with schizophrenia and currently her medication is not working and she is having episodes. I'm just asking for prayers that we get her medication right and that there is a community for mental illness here very close to my home and I'm just asking for prayer that she would be accepted into the group home so that she could feel safe and also be with other children (well, adults, she's 21) that are her age. So I'm just asking for prayers. This is my first time calling and I love listening to you, community. I pray for you guys all the time. So if you could help me with my daughter in prayer, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Reading to you from The Voice, Psalm 103, a Song of David. O my soul come, praise the Eternal with all that is in me. Body, emotions, mind and will, every part of who I am praise his holy name. O my soul, come, praise the Eternal. Sing a song from a grateful heart. Sing and never forget all the good he has done. Despite all your many offenses, he forgives and releases you. More than any doctor, he heals your diseases. He reaches deep into the pit to deliver you from death. He crowns you with unfailing love and compassion like a king. When your soul is famished and withering, he fills you with good and beautiful things, satisfying you as long as you live. He makes you strong like an eagle, restoring your youth. And just a reminder, in case you were thinking that the beautiful things that God is satisfying you with, it might be material things, he certainly can do that, but that is not what he is promising here. What he is promising and what he is doing is filling you with these good things. Things like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control. This is Candace from Oregon, Pure and Fire-White Lamb, Shining Star of Jesus Christ the King. Thanks for your calls. Thank you especially God-Fearing Soul in Sebastian. We really needed to hear what you said. Blind Tony, I'm praying for your family member that was shot.

Hi Daily Audio Bible family. This is Tamberly calling from Northeastern Nevada. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ll tell you what. When I start calling, my heart just starts pounding and my stomach just does flip-flops. I just get so nervous. Maybe that is why I don’t call very much, because it just scares me. Anyway, I just have a praise report about my husband's job. My husband is retired military and anyway he has had some issues fitting back in and getting in the groove of work and just dealing with civilian life. Anyway, his position at work has been kind of precarious and he has been really actually harassed at work in a really, really bad, bad way. We asked for your prayers about that and certainly felt them so much. And I just wanted to thank you all. The situation is still not over, but the peace during the storm is definitely there and we have just claimed God's promises over the whole thing. We know that no weapon formed against us will prosper. I just remind him that he is the Lord's and whatever he is going through is for his good and for God's glory. We’ve been really trying to praise the Lord in the storm. You know what? It's really working out because there is nothing that he has done wrong to deserve being treated the way he has. That is often the case in life. He doesn’t want to lose his job. He absolutely loves his job and he makes a positive difference in people's lives every single day of his life. Not many people can be that fortunate. So I would just ask that you continue to pray for him. He is probably going to seek…

Good morning, DAB family. I'm a burning bush that will not be consumed for the glory of our God. Delta Alpha Foxtrot, I am praying with you for Marvie. I believe that our God is the same God today as he was yesterday and Jesus is still healing today. So we pray healing over Marvie right now. We pray healing for her kidneys and liver, in the name of Jesus. Holy Father, we ask that you will just touch her body, restore that which is broken, renew, restore, in Jesus’ name. Andrew, we continue praying for your daughter, continue praying that God will encourage your soul. Carrie from Thailand, we’re praying for your director. We believe that God can heal. We pray that God will step into this situation and will just bring healing, complete healing, physical as well as emotional. I pray that the cancer of the ear will go away completely. James from the UK, yes, we are praying for you and your father. We pray that God will continue to sustain your family, keep you strong, continue to bring a miraculous healing of your father, even now as he goes __________ recuperation. Carlton the truck driver, thank you for calling. Your call woke me up because I, too, am a wife who has been wounded and I know __________ have been wounded. We just don’t know how to move forward. And I just thank God for forgiveness and we do believe in forgiveness and we know that God would use us as vessels to bring that to life to those who we love. Jay from New Jersey, Wayne from Maine, Clarice from Wisconsin, Blessed Like Me, this is a shout-out. We love you guys. I'm out.

Hey DAB family, this is Seth A. from Bangor, ME. I was listening to the community prayer for this past week and I heard a caller, Mike from New York or Australia or something like that. I couldn’t make it out. He was asking about repentance. My heart was just moved and I had to call in again. Mike, I just want to just say I’ve just talked to a lot of different people, Christians that have fear of losing their salvation or the issue of repentance, the issue of how these things swirl around. I think the enemy really uses them to really clog up our minds. But here's the deal. This is what the gospel is about. Jesus said go into all the world and baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I think baptism is such a key thing. It is more than just tradition. It is literally you dying to an old way of life. That is repentance. Repentance just means a change of mind. I can hear in the phone call that you called in that you really don’t want to do the things, the sins. Your heart isn’t for sin. Your heart is to really know Jesus. Baptism is a beautiful thing within the gospel that is off with the old, in with the new, so when you go down in that water, you die to sin once for all and you raise into a likeness of his resurrection. It is by grace through faith. When you place your faith that Jesus is Lord, then he is really Lord. Your life is not your own.

Hi Daily Audio Bible family. My name is Dave. I’ve been listening for the last 3 years and this is the first time I’ve called. I'm calling with a praise report and a prayer request. On August 12th of this year in just a few days, my wife, Anna, and I were to file a petition for divorce in the courts. Praise God after 4 years of separation, God has put our family back together. We’ve stopped the divorce process and in a few short weeks we’ll be reuniting as a family with our son, Levi, under the same roof for the first time in 4 years. Hallelujah! My prayer request is for my wife, Anna. On August 12th, that's right, the same day we were to file for divorce, my wife will be interviewed for a promotion at work. We are praying that God's will be done. If it is his will that she get promoted, then we will know that she is in God's plan for her life. If she is passed over, we will know that God is preparing her for something even bigger to happen in her life. So either way we’ll be praising God on that day. Please pray with us that God will move in a miraculous way and that his perfect will be done in our lives. Thanks and have a great day.
