Isaiah 22:1-24:23 ~ Galatians 2:17-3:9 ~ Psalm 60:1-12 ~ Proverbs 23:15-16
Today is September 16th. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It is wonderful to be here with you today. And I’m thrilled and excited to see what lays before us as we dive into the scriptures for today. So this week we’re reading from the English Standard Version, moving our way through the book of Isaiah.

Prayer

Thank you, Father, for your Word, the beautiful gift of it, the availability of it, and this community and the way that we have shown love for each other because everything has been centered around the rhythm of your Word and its transforming power in our lives to point us in the right direction and lead us into all truth. This is your promise. We invite your Holy Spirit to do exactly that – lead us into all truth. May the steps that we take this day be steps that lead us into all truth. Be the light for our path. You are invited here in every conceivable way. We adore you. We worship you. We love you. You are glorious. You are all powerful, and you are our Father. So come, we pray, in the name of Jesus we ask, amen.

Community Praise Reports and Prayer Requests

Hi Daily Audio Bible, this is Rachel. I am calling to get my prayer request. I spent some time within a foreign country, after which I felt the Lord calling me to come home because it was a very dry situation spiritually and I was very isolated. I didn’t have very good access to a fellowship of Christian community. And so about a year ago the Lord just put it on my heart to come back to America. So I took some steps and earlier this year I came home. And I don’t have a lot of interaction with the bible so much anymore. My relationship with the Lord is not quite as I want it to be. Today went to church and went to bible study that just been started and coincidentally they are doing a study on Isaiah. I felt like the Lord just uses the bible to really __________ on me and I really want to allow the bible to transform me and not harden my heart against it. That’s the reason why I’m calling and the other reason is because I struggled even before (I have no excuse for it) an emotional love addiction and it is really hurting my intimacy with God. There is a level of intimacy that I can reach. Someone called earlier and left a prayer about people who __________ to call, so that was for me and I’m calling in to thank you.

Hi this is Joy from Michigan. I’d like prayer for my friend’s husband. He was in a horrific car accident on Friday night. He’s in critical care with six broken ribs, a broken wrist, and both his legs were broken. He’s going to be intubated for a while. He’s having trouble with his lungs. He’s had multiple surgeries already and now has a fever. The other driver died shortly after arriving at the hospital. So what I’m asking for is to please pray for healing for both families and they’re going to need the healing both mentally and physically. God bless.

Good afternoon Dabbers, it’s Monday the 14th where I’m sitting at right now. And Jay from New Jersey, you’ve encouraged me to call in and I have called in before about his issue. So this is Richard C., the former radio station manager in Aubrey-Tawonga. Beautiful day here. I don’t really know how to say this in less than a minute and a half, which is all I got now. But I’m a foster carer in Australia. That means that it’s not like adoption; the government is still heavily involved with our situation. And there was an incident where I was trying to get one of my sons, one of my foster kids – there are five of them, plus our three kids, so there are eight kids altogether, quite a blessing to us and my sins had overtaken me, the anger of trying to deal with a child with ADD and ADHD for over an hour and trying to calm him down and get him to just do some simple things like not beat up on his brothers overwhelmed me and I hurt him quite severely and what’s happened is that all of the children have been taken from me. Even before these boys came into our family, my wife and I looked at them, any child through the foster caring system that came into our lives as our kids. I haven’t seen them or spoken to them for almost 4 weeks and it’s weighing on me. But I’m praying that God’s will would be in this and that there will restoration and healing and that the government authorities that are now having any say about my family, that God will soften their heart. That’s what I’m asking for people to pray for, that the government authorities’ hearts will be softened and that restoration and redemption will be happening in God’s will. Thank you, Dabbers. Please pray.

Show me God’s love, 1 Corinthians 13:4-13. I wanted to call and tell you about indirectly something that I’m going through. I want to say this especially to new believers that are listening to the DAB and to encourage you that because you’ve become a new believer, you’re going to come against things in your life and it’s going to happen especially through those closest to you. They’re going to make fun of you. They’re going to mock you. They’re going to scoff at you. They’re going to talk at you behind your back. I’m going through some of that myself and I’ve been a believer over 40 years. So understand that it’s going to happen to you and you can look through the bible for evidence of this. First of all, Jesus said remember when the world hates you, it hated me first. And also remember about where it says in the gospel that while he was in his hometown he could not work many miracles. He healed a few people and did some small things, but he could not heal or do very many miracles because of their lack of faith, okay. And it was because they had the attitude of “Oh, Jesus? Oh, you mean that son of the carpenter? Oh, that’s Joseph’s son. He aint about nothing…” and all of that stuff, okay. And that’s what’s going to happen to you. So when that happens, rejoice like Paul and Silas did. Remember that old gospel hymn, ‘it was good for Paul and Silas, and its good enough for me.’ Praise God, praise God.

Hi DAB family, its James here from the U.K. I am calling in with a request. I’m also calling in to try and bless two people that have called in recently. I think it was on the 9th of September. Kimberly, I got your call on behalf of your husband and for yourself. I think his name was Warren and you’re in Nevada, if memory serves me correctly. You were talking about the fact that your husband is under persecution right now from his supervisor who is acting particularly mean. And I just really felt that when you were talking and you were sharing what’s going on, I could sense your anxiety and pain that that’s been causing you guys as a family. I just wanted you to know that it really touched my heart and I’ve been praying for you and I’ve been praying for Warren. I just really do ask, Lord, that you would continue to protect Kimberly and Warren. Give Kimberly the enthusiasm and the passion and the desire she needs to go back into school and be the teacher that you called her to be. Give Warren, Lord, the protection that he needs at work. Lord, help him to put the full armor of God on every morning that he will know that you are there, that you are with him, that you’ll protect him, and that whatever may come of the situation that you are there with him. I also wanted to pray for, I think her name was Mary. Mary, you called on the same day and your husband is struggling with a drug addiction and you’ve got two kids that you’re looking after and you’ve had to ask him to leave. And it just caused me pain to think of that.

Hey guys, my dad’s been dying of cancer for 5 years. This is Floyd from Charlotte. My dad’s been dying of cancer for 2 years and at this point, his quality of life is gone. He’s been a strong man of God his whole life and his mind is starting to slip. He’s losing peace and he’s losing what I would consider his security in his salvation. And it’s the opposite of what Philippians 4 tells us, that God will provide us with peace that surpasses all understanding. It feels as if my dad is being sifted by the Devil. I just ask that God’s peace and the Holy Spirit’s peace would just come over him for the rest of his days and that he’ll be given that security back. Romans 8 talks all about our grace, what’s been given to us and that it’s not in our action that causes us to be saved. So I just ask that he be ministered to by the Holy Spirit for the rest of his days. Please continue to pray. Also pray for my mother. She’s taking care of him and it’s extremely burdensome. And my whole family to come together for him as he approaches the end. Thank you guys so much and I’m so grateful to Brian and Jill for providing this. Thanks brothers and sisters. Bye.

(Singing) Oh Sweet Jesus, tell me what to do. Holy Spirit, tune my heart to you. Heavenly Father, faithful and true, be very near that I may walk with you. Be very near that I may walk with you. Oh Sweet Jesus, tell me what to do. Holy Spirit, tune my heart to you. Heavenly Father, faithful and true, be very near that I may walk with you. Be very near that I may walk with you.
