Isaiah 30:12-33:9 ~ Galatians 5:1-12 ~ Psalm 63:1-11 ~ Proverbs 23:22
Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Jill. I'm Brian’s wife and I am just sitting in for the man today. You know, once in a while he deserves a day off, so I offered to help give him a little break and surprisingly he obliged. The man is actually resting. Pray, saints, because he does not rest well at all. Some people just don’t. They just don’t have it in them. He does not, but today he is. Thank you, Jesus. So today is the 19th of September and we are reading in the Word, Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs and we’re starting today in the Old Testament with Isaiah.

(J) Reading Proverbs with me today, I have a very special guest.

(E) [Giggles]

(J) Ezekiel is going to help me read Proverbs today. Are you ready, Zekey?

(E) Uh-huh. Ready.

(J) Okay.

(E) Listen to you, first.

(J) Who

(E) Who

(J) gave

(E) gave

(J) you

(E) you

(J) life.

(E) life. And do not…

(J) And do not

(E) And do not eyes

(J) despise

(E) despise

(J) your mother

(E) your mother

(J) when she is old.

(E) when she is old.

(J) Good job!

(E) And I’ll do it now again.

(J) Okay, when she is old.

(E) Mommy, I'm going to get in my chair now.

(J) Okay, you go sit in your chair next to me and do your work, okay?

(E) Okay.

(J) Okay. I thought that might be fun to hear Proverbs through the voice of a 3-year-old today, so thank you, Zekey. That was great.

So the whole verse is Proverbs 23:22: Listen to your father who gave you life and do not despise your mother when she is old. I think it is quite appropriate that after he said that, he said, “Mommy, I like you.” It's a good thing when your 3-year-old likes you. Not just loves you, but likes you.

Prayer

So thank you, Father, that your loving kindness is greater than life. Thank you that the joy from you is our strength and thank you for using 3-year-olds sometimes to remind us of that. And we thank you, God, for your restoration that only comes when we sit and rest, when we take the time to be still and be silent and to rest. It's when you come and nourish us and restore us and heal us. We can do that best when we’re sitting still and allowing you to breathe all of the things that you need to into us. So I just pray that you would do that for Brian today. I pray that you would do that for anybody whose soul is dry and thirsty or overwhelmed or anxious or uncertain. God, that you would just come and be their perfect peace that passes all understanding and all questions of why. And we thank you, God, that you are there when we call on you, that you are there when we speak to you and you are there even when we don’t. We love you. Thank you for your Word, the breathing, living, Word of God. I thank you for all that you’ve done in this community and I thank you for what you are still to do. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

(E) Mommy, the sun?

(J) Yes, the sun, the sunshine. Thank God for the sunshine, right? Zekey and I like to go out on the front porch and we watch the geese that fly over every night after dinner. It is just quite amazing how they fly in a perfect V formation. I can usually hear them if the windows are open from quite far away, so it gives us enough time to go get ready and sit on the porch. Don’t we, buddy? We sit on the porch and listen for the geese?

He is suddenly going to be shy and quiet. Didn’t know he had it in him. Oh, the wonderment of life through the eyes of a 3-year-old! It makes being 40-something not so bad.

The website is www.DailyAudioBible.com. Of course, I'm here and I'm going to give a shameless plug to the women's page. Women, if you would love a place to connect, just to be together, to see other women who are on their journey of life, we talk about lots of things there, it's a place to safely be vulnerable and its met with no judgment, condemnation, but love and grace and mercy and compassion. I just love what is going on there. That is the Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/DailyAudioBibleWomen. Daily Audio Bible Women's website is www.DailyAudioBibleWomen.com. Easy enough to remember.

Of course, as always, I'm ecstatically proud of my husband with the book that is coming out, Reframe. You know, it's funny. If you’ve listened at all in the last 10 years, you know Brian based on who he is in the last 10 years, and who he is in the last 10 years is not the man that I married. You know, he was not a horrible creature. He was just, he’ll tell you, a very agnostic guy who was just trying to work his way through life. To see what God has done in his life in the last 10 years… Okay, I mean, if we’re going to boil it down, what God has done in his heart in the last 2 years has come out in this book Reframe.

So as best as I can describe it to you, it is like childbirth and getting ready and caring for a baby and carrying it for 9 months and you giving birth, you giving life to something that you're ecstatically proud of and even if you're not a woman, as a father you can relate to that, the process of that, and then being extremely proud of the final product. As an artist, you create. It's not much different. It's like every album, every project is like giving birth to a child. It's your heart and your sweat and your blood and your tears. Books and art and albums, music, it's all related, it's all relatable.

I'm really proud of him for this. I think he's really proud of himself, and he should be. So that is why we talk about it. I believe in it. I believe in this book, in the message, and I can tell you reading it several months ago has made me stop and think about every decision as it pertains to my relationship with God. It's just in the back of my mind. It makes me rethink everything.

So thank you for letting me indulge for a second on my husband. I'm just really proud of him. Really proud of the book and excited for all of you to read it and hopefully be transformed as well. So thank you for giving me that time. I should probably be done now. I will go away and be quiet.

So that's it for me today. Brian will be back tomorrow, rested, hopefully, and rejuvenated, restored. Thank you for your love, your support. The Hardins love you. We truly, truly love you. So until tomorrow, love one another.

(E) Okay.

(J) And finally today, reading in Proverbs…

(E) [ecstatic laughter]

(J) Are you done laughing?

(E) [giggles]

(J) No?

(E) Uh-huh.

(J) Okay. Ready?

(E) Uh-huh.

(J) Without laughing…

This is Steve from Manchester, NH and Brian, I so appreciate your ministry. What a blessing. I was moved the other day, actually today, which is September 16th, Wednesday. Floyd from North Carolina called and I was really moved in regard to your dad's situation and I just wanted to pray about that. Heavenly Father, I lift up Floyd's dad and actually mom too, the whole situation there. I pray that your peace, that you would cause there to be a perimeter of peace around them. I pray that the love that has been __________ in their hearts would just rise up at this time and just bring such comfort to them, your presence would just overwhelm what is going on right now. And I pray for Floyd himself, that he would be strengthened and just know how himself to minister in this situation. We just pray for grace and peace to be multiplied. And I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.

Hello, this is Marilyn from Ohio. I’ve been listening to the Daily Audio Bible for about 4 years every morning and it has been such a joy and blessing to my life. I love you all. I listen to many of the frequent callers and you're my friends and I wish we could go out and have a global campfire together and meet each other and shake hands and share some s’mores. I'm calling this morning for Floyd from Charlotte. Floyd, I heard your call about your father and your mother, your father who is dying from cancer. I was just moved to call you and give this word to you from James 1:12. And its ‘blessed is the man who perseveres under trial because when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.’ And also for your mother, speaking as a woman who has lost both of her parents and a sister, I understand loss and I know the grief that encompasses that and I wish you the loving arms of God to surround you. I implore you to reach out to your family here in the Daily Audio Bible and to read your Bible and to pray. Get down on your knees and pray. I hope all goes well with you. If I can, I pray for my own family. I pray for my own concerns. God knows what they are and I just love this forum and community. God bless you all. Have a wonderful day.

Nana Jones here from Spring Hill, TN. I want to congratulate Brian and Jill for their grandma and grandpa-ism. I am so excited for you two and I will say that you are some of the youngest grandma and grandpas I’ve ever known. I do congratulate you. I am a nana of 7 grandchildren and that is why I call myself Nana Jones. Listen, DAB family, I just had to call today and make a comment towards the beautiful lady that sang that beautiful song at the end of this morning's broadcast. You didn’t give your name, but I'm going to tell you the Lord just blessed me so much from that song that you sang. You have a beautiful voice and you can really keep a tune, so I want to thank you so much, Honey, for sharing that beautiful song with all of us. I know that the Holy Spirit used it to minister to many of us. Anyway, DAB family, I'm going to be calling in the next couple days asking for special prayer requests, but today I just want to say congratulations again to Brian and Jill. We love you so much and we thank you for this forum. God bless everybody. I'm praying for you all. Stay close to Jesus and remember Jesus in your day. Bye-bye.

Hey guys. Hey, this is Nette from Oklahoma City. I'm going to talk fast so I can hopefully get all this stuff in. Hey, I got an amazing praise report. My stepson James is down in intervention center for teenage kids and he's doing very well. I'm very surprised, believe me, I a.m., but he said he found God. I'm going to let that sink in for just a second, huh? He found God. I was like ‘you’ve got to be kidding me.’ We talked a lot about it and I told him the story about Paul being God's right-hand man and doing all his best work in prison and he seems to think that was pretty cool and pretty applicable to his life. So I want to pray that James continues to open his heart up to the Lord and hearing of the Word. Let's do that, okay? The other thing is here my son Alex is up there in Colorado and you guys have been praying for him. He told me today (God, this is going to be funny, isn’t it?) he has decided to quit smoking pot. Whoo!!! And make changes in his life and he said that this stuff isn’t funny anymore and that he wants to become straight and a law-abiding citizen. I know because I’ve seen and I’ve even talked to his boss that he is making life changing decisions and has been for some time. I am so proud of him. Sometimes I wonder how it is. It seems like maybe I’ve done something wrong in my life. How do all these things keep happening that I have these wayward children, but apparently I was meant to have them because I'm probably strong enough to deal with it. It just makes me seek out more answers in the Lord's Word to give the wisdom out to these children when they need it.

Hi, my name is Lynnette. I am calling for prayer. I have very significant visual problems and I would like prayer from God's people who I trust and respect their going to the throne with such a war that we can fight through, going to a king that loves us. I’ve had multiple surgeries and I have one eye and it had surgery and now is having trouble. I want to go through it just trusting him. I want to pass this test of faith and say “Lord, whatever it takes to get my heart to trust you, to bring glory to you,” so I'm asking for prayer that it would turn out that I could see, of course, out of this one eye and he would favor me and bless me with that. But I'm asking that he would be glorified in me, that my heart would be willing. I'm not willing. No, I'm not willing. Thank you so much and thank you for praying for me. God bless you.
