Isaiah 57:14-59:21 ~ Philippians 1:1-26 ~ Psalm 71:1-24 ~ Proverbs 24:9-10
Today is September 29th. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it's a pleasure and an honor to be here with you today. It is going to be a fun day. We get to move into another one of Paul's letters, the letter to the Philippians when we get to the New Testament, but before that we’re in the book of Isaiah and it won't be long before we reach the end of Isaiah. A ways to go yet, but we’re kind of rounding that corner. We’re reading the Easy to Read Version this week.

Introduction of a New Book

Paul's letter to the Philippians is the next stop as we continue this journey through the Bible this year. This is a letter, of course, written by the apostle Paul and again from prison in Rome probably around AD 61 or 62 to the church that was at Philippi which was the first church in Europe ever established. Philippi was a Roman colony in the southeast of Europe in Macedonia and it was a very, very, very poor church, very poor people that gave and loved extravagantly in their care for Paul and in their care for the churches in the kingdom of God.

Paul loved this people deeply, as he did all the churches, but he had a special place in his heart for the Philippians. Knowing that he was imprisoned, the church at Philippi sent Epaphroditus, a member of the congregation, all the way to Rome to just check on Paul, to see how he is doing and to bring him a gift from the congregation to lift his spirits. Of course, Paul was overjoyed and found comfort. So this person, Epaphroditus, stayed for a long time serving Paul and in the process he became really deathly ill, just about died, but then God healed him, restored him to health and Paul was determined to send him back to the church with this letter which shares the story of his circumstances. But more importantly, to the church at Philippi and to all of God's people, including us, including us, this is a letter of encouragement designed to strengthen the hope and the joy that is ours in Jesus. In these uncertain times, Philippians stands like this lighthouse, this beacon to where our true hope and joy lies. That, of course, is in Christ alone. So we begin Philippians.

Prayer

Thank you, God, oh, our dear Father, our Almighty Lord, our Sovereign. We thank you for the gift of your Word again. Every day we have a grateful heart for it. We would be floundering without it. But what we need more than your Word, your Word quickens our hearts and orients us to you, but without you and the power of your Holy Spirit to plant these words deep in our lives and transform our identity, we’re still trying to make it work on our own terms and that is not possible. You have created us in your image to be in life together with you, in relationship, in collaboration. And so we thank you for the gift of your Word because it informs that relationship. So we love you and we invite you and we need you and we adore you. We worship you. You are good. Your mercy endures forever. Your patience is unending. Your kindness is immeasurable. You are our good Father and so we invite you into this day, into this night, into this week, into this month. Come Jesus. We pray in your precious name, we ask these things, amen.

Announcements

Www.DailyAudioBible.com is the website. It is where you find out what is going on around here. There is always something going on around here. This is the magic week. The day after tomorrow is the official release date for Reframe. I am not exactly sure why some of the places jumped the gun and released early, but that is fine. It is supposed to be everywhere that it is going to be, which is everywhere you can buy fine books, on Thursday. So we’re getting ready for that. Thursday will be October 1st and for the last two months we’ve been finding things that we can give you in order to offset your investment into Reframe. Right now we’re giving away the Passages unabridged audio edition, which is my first book, as well as a $10 voucher for the new Promised Land – Essential Pilgrim's Edition DVD set and digital download. That goes away here on October 1st. So I want to invite you, if you haven’t yet or if you want to grab more copies, now would be a great time to do that. Just jump over to www.ReframeBook.com and grab some.

Then, as we move into the new month, we hit the Reframe Tour pretty hard. We’re also going to do this wonderful interactive going through the book together, sort of like our own big small group that I’ll lead. I'm looking forward to that. I believe so passionately in this message. I'm doing everything I possibly can, everything I can think of not only to get the message out, but to get the message in, if that makes sense. To plant it deep so that it becomes kind of a way of thought, a way of life, a way of relationship because it is transformative. That sounds a little bloated from the guy who wrote it. I can say that with a straight face and with honesty and know that it is not like a slimy pitch because that is what happened to me. So I know that I can pass it on. So go to www.ReframeBook.com, grab a copy and get ready. Things are about to get reframed and I'm looking forward to talking about our own reframes.

We have a group where discussion is already underway on Facebook for the Reframe book. You just simply go to www.Facebook.com/Groups/ReframeBook and bam! You're in. You’ll see that there are all kinds of discussion already happening. And then we’re planning to use Periscope to do some live interaction. If you don’t have the Periscope app yet, just go to your app store, whatever device you're using, whether it be Android or iOS or an Apple device and just look for Periscope and download the Periscope app, open it up, search for Daily Audio Bible and follow Daily Audio Bible and then you’ll be in. You’ll be all ready to go for this interactive virtual small group that we’re going to have that I think, I know is going to be fun because it has already been fun. Some of the discussions, people posting pictures of their books, it's a blast. Guys, if you're in that group, you’ve taken lots of pictures of the book, but take a selfie. Let's introduce ourselves to each other. Take a selfie holding the book and let's introduce ourselves to each other and that will be fun.

On October 1st, which is the day the book releases, I’ll be speaking at the Story Conference here in Nashville. Then looking forward very much to a six week stretch of dates each weekend that I’ll be doing which will launch the 11th of October right here in my own hometown. Like I’ve been saying for a couple days, Nashville, you’ve gotta come out. You’ve gotta say hello. I want to see you. I want to meet you. I want to know who you are right here in our hometown. I’ll be speaking at SouthView Church on the 11th of October. Go to www.SouthView.cc for more information.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, thank you profoundly. Thank you humbly. You can do that at the website. There is a link in the upper right-hand corner of the home page. If you prefer, the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996, Spring Hill, TN 37174.

And, as always, if you have a prayer request or comment, (877) 942-4253 is the number to call.

That’s it for today. I’m Brian. I love you. I’ll be waiting for you here, tomorrow.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Hello, my name is Alex from Florida, previously known as the agnostic. I guess now from Pastor Gene I’ve been called Seeker and really like that because I'm seeking. I’ve been doing great. I’ve been listening every day mostly and I’ve been enjoying going to church __________, so that is really great. I’ve asked my wife to come to my church a few times now and she wasn’t a huge fan in the very beginning. She has come to like it, but she definitely likes it a lot more than the beginning. She just was brought up in a lot smaller church style than I'm currently going to, but I'm definitely enjoying it and I'm happy every time we can go. Even when my 10-year-old goes to my church and so he __________ went to the big church with us and he really liked it a lot better. Anyway, I’ve also been listening to the Cold-Case Christianity that I was told here or that was suggested to me here. I really like that. I'm nearly done with it. I listened to the audio version. There is a lot of information on there that I might have to listen to it a second time to really understand everything they are saying, but I enjoyed it so far. I also plan to look into some books from __________ that were suggested for me from several people. But I have one question, though, if I should introduce my wife to this podcast because I believe she would probably like it, just like with church except we are living in different points in our life as far as believing in God goes, if that would be good or if I have here for me my own little area for myself. Maybe you’ll have some suggestions on a couples, how they handle that here.

Hi, my name is Susan. I'm calling from Tampa, FL. I'm calling for prayer for my daughter, Rachel. She is 22 years old and on October 6th she is going to Atlanta to take the Japanese fluency test. She studied in Japan for a year right out of high school. She was an exchange student and she was fluent in Japanese, could read and write, but she has been back for a while and has just decided that this is what she needs to do, so she is studying really, really hard. I would really ask everyone, the body of Christ to pray that she be focused and encouraged as she studies and can accomplish this and that when she goes to this test that she is strengthened and confident and can accomplish everything the Lord has for her to do. I appreciate you so much. You have no idea how much I love you at the Daily Audio Bible. I’ve never called for prayer before, but my daughter needs us now. She needs the body of Christ. I am so glad that we can all come together and lift each other up. I thank you, Brian. I thank you, everyone at the Daily Audio Bible. I called earlier and had to hang up because when I heard your voice, I started to cry. So thank you again. Rachel is taking the Japanese fluency test on October 6th. Oh, wait, it's December 6th, Sunday, in Atlanta, GA. Oh my Lord, December 6th, Sunday, in Atlanta. Thank you.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible. This is Ian again from the UK. I just wanted to call after nearly a week of listening. Saturday will be a week and I just want to say how blessed I am by this community and by the method of listening to the Bible. It has really helped me not only with being able to listen every day, but it has helped me with my own personal Bible reading. It has actually enabled me to get into a routine every day of actually not only listening to this community, Daily Audio Bible, but also I'm reading my own Bible. I would like to thank the community for giving me that. I haven’t been around on the forums much in the last few days because it is still all new to me and I'm still getting used to how everything works. I am looking forward to buying your Reframe and Passages books, Brian, which I'm hoping to get in the next couple of weeks. I'm really looking forward to getting them. I have Kindle on my iPhone and I also have iBooks so I'm looking forward to getting them. As I'm in the UK, they don’t seem to be available on audio over here, but that is not a problem to me. I can still get them and read them, so thank God for that. I want to bless you all. Good luck to everyone who sent in prayer requests over the last few days. I’ve been listening to them all and I’ve been praying about you all. I hope you all managed to have everything done for you that you wish have done for you and I bless you all. I look forward again to knowing you further and I’ll hopefully speak to you again very soon. Thank you very much for this great community. God bless all of you. I hope to speak to you all very soon. Thank you.

Hey family. This is Steven from Alabama, about to cross over to the Tennessee State line, head up to Nashville to fly to Colorado. I just want to say Thomas, may __________. Keep listening. You're not going to believe what is going to happen with you. I had a very discouraging day yesterday and I went to bed last night, though, encouraged, excited. I can’t wait to get on the plane and open up this Reframe book. I knew that Brian and God were going to show up this morning and I listened on the way in the car so that peace knowing you’ve got this is going to change everything for you. Just trust in it. God will show up. He is going to talk to you. I actually had an idea. I'm thinking about ordering the Kindle version and giving away my hard copy book and order the Kindle version because just a few bits I read yesterday in the introduction, I had several things that I thought would be worthy of sharing. So if you get the Kindle version you can tweet it, you can tweet little snippets of it or share on social media. Just an idea. Love you guys. Praying for you.

Hi family, this is Pastor Gene from Bradenton, FL. This morning I was praying with my son, JC, my 7-year-old before school and these were literally his words. He said, “Lord, thank you. We were nothing without you, but now look at us.” And that really encouraged me and I just wanted to give you the same exhortation. Even if you're going through trials and tribulations, look back and look at the road, the path through which the Lord has brought you. Look at you now. You haves Jesus. You have hope. Let's look at who we are now versus who we were yesterday and let's rejoice in the Lord for what he's done. Let's pray. Father, I thank you for the belated anniversary for my sister, Michelle, the military wife. I can only imagine all the sacrifices my sister and her family have had to make through all the years, Father, to keep up with the career of her husband who serves our country. I thank you for him. I thank you for their marriage. I thank you for their children and I continue to pray that you will straighten the paths of each one of my sister's children so they will find a place in this world. Father, I thank you for my sister, Sheila, from Massachusetts. I thank you for her daughter, Annie, Father, and I pray for her full healing. Father, please heal Annie. I thank you for my sister, Marisa, from Las Vegas and a very belated anniversary with the DAB. Father, may you continue to use Marisa to the glory of your name and may she spread your good news. Father, I thank you for my brother, Reverend Carlton. Yes, my brother, it is God's will for you to move on, in the name of Jesus. It is God's will. He has already forgiven you. It is his will to forgive and for you to forgive yourself and it is his will for your wife to forgive you fully and completely.

[Singing] Jehovah Jireh, my provider, his grace is sufficient for me, for me, for me. Jehovah Jireh, my provider, his grace is sufficient for me. Yes, it is. God is so good and he does provide. This is Casey in Calgary. I called in last month to encourage somebody else and I didn’t have time to ask for my own prayer requests. God was amazing and he answered them anyway, the very next week he answered two out of three of my urgent requests. I was waiting to get into a college. At the age of 49, it is kind of daunting to be going back to college, but I wanted to take this library tech program and I was wait listed. It didn’t look like I’d get in. They called. They said if you want in, you gotta pay the next day and start on Monday. It was just an amazing answer to prayer. I'm in it now and it is daunting. It is a lot of work. I'm having to work part-time to help pay the bills so I'm going into work at 4 a.m., working until 8 a.m. and then heading to class at 9, but I'm doing it. God is so good. My other prayer request was I needed a roommate to help pay the bills and that roommate came the very next day. I just thank God. I praise him and, yes, he does provide. Amen.

Hi Daily Audio Bible family. This is Dan from Massachusetts calling you from Pittsburg State. I just want to thank Brian first off for providing us this amazing forum that allows us to grow in the Word of God. Thank you, Brian. My prayer today is very simple. I just want to lift up all the college students out there. It's not easy being a college student, especially on a secular campus. A lot of things run contrary to our faith, but we have strength in the Word of God and in the Spirit. So I just want to lift up all the college students out there, just to keep going in your academics, don’t give up, stay strong, do everything as if working for the Lord. Don’t give up. Fight the good fight of faith. I'm praying for you all. Stay strong and be bold in your faith. Romans 1:16, let's live unashamed. Thank you, Daily Audio Bible family. Again, this is Dan from Massachusetts calling you from Pittsburg State University. Hope everyone has a great day. Love you all. Talk to you later.
