Tell Us About Yourself and What the DAB Means To You

Returning to try to connect
Hi , I've been listening to DAB on and off to a couple of years maybe a little over three years or so, time goes so fast. I live in the U.S. Virgin Islands and I just became an empty-nester. I decided to reach out in a more meaningful manner this time because I've been struggling with different things for past year now. I don't have any close friends to hangout with so i'm pretty much my myself all the time. I am okay for the most part but I suffer from depression and certain things trigger my emotions and I can get real down trodden and it's a fight to get back in control. On top of that I just made the big 50 this past July and have been trying to find work since being laid off a little over a year ago. So you see I have a lot dealing with and with no one to encourage me on a regular basis it can get frustrating not know how to deal with my stuff. Anyway, I've said a mouthful but I have a lot on my mind and don't have an outlet. Maybe this can be my outlet...I'll see. Hope to get to know some real friends here and I hope to be an encouragement to someone and be encouraged as well. Take care now.

Just came back to say also that DAB is very helpful to me when I am having one of my downcast in spirit moments or days because I can listen to the Word of God and redirect my focus on our Heavenly Father and not my current situation. The Old Testament readings can cause me to get emotional sometimes because just like the children of Israel keep turning from God to other things so I keep letting my thoughts and reactions and deeds as well take my focus of of our Savior.

Thanks for reaching out Sharon. Praying for your depression to go away and to find work. All is powerful with our God almighty.

Thanks Sharon. I encourage you to listen all the way through the prayer requests also. I'm not sure if that will help with depression, but for me it helps take my focus off myself as I lift prayer requests to God, and then I usually end up drawing closer to him in worship prayer.

Thanks JT and Chris! I have been feeling much better these days and that's because I've been listening or reading and praying daily. I have also been reading a booklet by Dr. Tony Evans called "30 Days To Overcoming Emotional Strongholds" which is very insightful. It helps me recognize false beliefs about myself and my past and replace them with what God says in His Word about me. And I do take time to pray for orders as the Sprit leads. My one constant prayer it the I learn how to worship Him in spirit and in truth. I am about forming genuine relationship and it first starts with my Lord and Savior. Religion is lonely and fruitless to me. Again thanks for replying. May your relationship with the Lord our God continue to blossom and florist day by day. Much blessing!
