Jeremiah 14:11-16:15 ~ 1 Thessalonians 2:13-3:13 ~ Psalm 80:1-19 ~ Proverbs 25:1-5
Today is October 10th. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. Here we are at the end of another week and they just kind of keep going by. We just keep taking small and big steps, one in front of the other as we move our way through the scriptures, moving our way through life. This is how we get anywhere. We’ve come a long way together, but we have a good stretch in front of us before this year is over. So it is exciting to spend this time together with you today, closing out another week. We’re reading from the Holman Christian Standard Bible this week.

Prayer

Father, we thank you for your Word and its many complexions, the way that it molds itself to our human experience, the way that it describes the many facets of the life that we live. Even as we read the prophetic words of Jeremiah to a people that have turned to you, we see what it brings – what it brings up in them, what it brings up in us – a destiny, a course that they charted to move away from you when your call was to return. We see what it even brings up in you – the suffering that it brings up in you, the way that you are so invested in our humanity that you care at all. So we pray along with Asaph, the psalmist today – restore us, God! Revive us and we will call on your name. Look on us with favor and we will be saved. This is the cry of our hearts. It is a constant cry of our hearts, for we are like sheep and we often do go astray. But as we begin to unfold and unpack the fact that you are deeply invested in us, it draws us to you and there is nothing that we want more than to be connected in intimate relationship with you. This is what our hearts cry out for, this is what we spend our lives scratching and clawing at life to achieve and it is here. It has always been the offer. So as we wake up, we ask for your restoration. As we draw near to you, you draw near to us and reclaim us, sanctifying us, transforming us, renewing us and we need this. We need this daily. We need this moment by moment. So come Holy Spirit. We offer ourselves open to you fully. Nothing is off limits to you. We need you within us, surrounding us, leading us into all truth, guiding us toward the Savior, transforming our lives. We ask for this. We ask expectantly in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Hello Daily Audio Bible family. It is Jeff K., aka Jeff Scepter from the band Scepter. I called back on December 2nd when my dad and mom both got sick and went into the hospital. My mom is doing better; however, we just lost dad. Really great Christian guy. Really need your prayers for our family. I'm selfish to want him back because he is definitely a man of God and definitely know where he is at, but we could sure use your prayers. Just thank you for everything you do and thank you for changing people over to being a Christian and everything. Thank God my dad raised us that way and he has helped us a lot. I know he wouldn’t want me being upset. I just want everybody to really pray for the family and the __________ around my brother and I and for our band to get back strong and get back doing what we do best. So thanks a lot and appreciate if you’d air that. Love everything you do. Looking forward to ending year number three of hearing the Bible because it helps me every day and certainly helps me with this. Thank you.

Good morning everybody. Hey, this is Annette A. from Oklahoma City. I'm just watching the news lately, like everybody else is, and I'm just torn for the people on the East Coast and the container ship that was lost and all the people. I hope they find some kind of survivors from that. It is just devastating. What a heck of a mess, huh? And the people from Haiti who have gotten caught up in the storm. I want to pray for the people of Syria because, boy, it is just a mess. I'm in agreement with Kathleen about praying for the people in ISIS, that hopefully their hearts would change and things would stabilize in that region. I'm sure it is probably not going to happen, but I'm sure praying for it, that these people can come back home and give relief to the places that are trying to help them, but so many people. How do you help so many people? I don’t know. I'm definitely praying for all those refugees that are trying to find peace in their lives as well. I'm thankful for the things that we take for granted in this country. It sure is at a high cost. I hope that we can maintain it, so I'm praying for our country too. I love you guys. Take good care. Have a great day. Bye-bye.

Hi, my name is Isabelle G., and I'm calling because I need a prayer for me and my husband. We’re having a lot of issues. Trust issues. I want to believe I can trust him again and that he won't cheat on me again, but it is so hard. I need a prayer. I feel lost. I feel incomplete. I'm angry. I just don’t want to feel like this anymore. I just need a prayer.

Good morning DAB family. This is Carol J. in Spring Hill, TN. My other ID is Nana J. in Spring Hill. Here I find myself again, laid up in bed recovering from another surgery. Four years ago I found DAB because of being laid up in bed with surgery and four surgeries later and four years later, here I am again. I was listening to the DAB this morning, as I do every morning, and was really touched by Sparkle in Tennessee who called in and was so heavy-laden by her situation with her mother-in-law that she is trying to take care of. Sparkle, I do want you to know that I will be praying for you, but in the midst of listening to your request, I feel like the Lord told me to reach out in my own town and reach all you ladies in Tennessee who call in and even those who don’t call in, to make myself available to help you and to reach out and do anything that I can do for you. So if you would like to email me, my email is NanaJones@Charter.net. I would love to communicate back and forth with you if there is anything I can do for you, girls. Please let me know. Thank you, family. I love you all. Praying for you all daily. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Hi Daily Audio Bible family. It's James, the teacher in L.A., and apparently we are in the middle of Mental Illness Awareness Week, which I found out at work. I’ve been recently touched by mental illness in my family with my father's passing and I’ve gone through bouts of depression in the past. It's like being in a deep, dark hole with no light. You feel like there is no hope, no help, and it is the worst. It is really the worst. The only thing I’ve ever found to help is having someone else who has been there and come out the other side of it who can be that human reminder, not just a message in a book, but a real human being who knows and can reach down and reach out to you and reassure you that in reality what you're going through isn’t everything and it isn’t the end. You need that human touch. None of us are strong enough to be there for someone 24 hours a day when they need it, but we have this resource. We have the Daily Audio Bible and it is not just Brian reading to us. It is not just a podcast that you put on anytime, although it is. It is eternal truth. It is not just one person comforting another. It is God comforting another. It is not just written words being read by Brian. It is God's Spirit taking those words and applying them to the inside of us where no medicine and no human being can touch. So if you're here and you're listening to these words, you're listening to the Bible, keep listening. Keep walking. There is hope. There is help. There is relief. There is power because of the blood of Jesus and his resurrection. Love you, family. Have a great one.

Hey guys. It is Brad from Livingston, MT and the reason I'm calling today, I was just listening to the community prayer line for this week and I wanted to call in for Alex from Florida. Alex, you were sharing that your daughter, Maddie, has leukemia. I just felt I need to call and just let you know that I'm praying for you guys. But I also wanted to let you know what an inspiration you are, just your tone and the strength that God has poured into you was really a blessing to me. I’ve got little kiddos that are close to Maddie's age and I just can’t imagine. They have their own issues with autism, but it is not the same as what you guys are dealing with. I just want to let you know that I'm praying for you and little Maddie. I'm praying for complete and total healing and that God uses that for his glory. Alright, then I also wanted to let Julian know that I'm praying for him. Julian, you’ve been tempted lately with reverting to your old way of life. I want you to know that I'm praying for you. Take heart. This is common to all of us. I'm tempted to fall back into my old way of life. It just seems easier sometimes. It seems like the closer we get to God, the more challenging our life gets as he refines us. Anyway, I'm praying for you, Julian, that God gives you strength and peace. Alright, love you guys. Talk to you later.
