Jeremiah 22:1-23:20 ~ 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12 ~ Psalm 83:1-18 ~ Proverbs 25:11-14
Today is the 13th of October. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It is my pleasure and it is my honor, even joy, even gladness, even excitement, all of those things, it's great to be here with you today as we come in out of whatever has been going on, whatever the drama is of the day, and just center ourselves, take a deep breath, exhale, cleanse, prepare and allow God's Word to speak to us. We’re reading from the International Standard Version this week and we’re still working our way through the book of Jeremiah in the Old Testament and then when we get to our New Testament reading for the day, we’ll begin Paul's second letter to the Thessalonians.

Introduction of a New Book

Second Thessalonians is the apostle Paul's second letter to the church in Thessalonica, a church that was born in persecution and had never been free from persecution and marginalization. So the second letter was written probably just a few months after the first to add further clarity and broaden what was said in the first and to correct some of the assumptions that were incorrect.

Because of Paul's discussion on the second coming of Christ, some people felt that the time was at hand (sound familiar?) and quit their jobs and refused to work and just waited for Jesus to show up. We’ve seen this happen. Well, I’ve seen this happen my whole life. It happens regularly. Paul has to correct that issue and ends up telling them ‘if you're not going to work, you're not going to leach off everyone.’ ‘If you're not going to go to work, then you're not going to eat.’

This is far from the only reason for the writing of this letter, though. This is a precious church, a church that has been persecuted from the day it was started and for the most part they have remained faithful, but they need constant encouragement from Paul and Paul tells them that their endurance isn’t being overlooked. It makes them worthy of the kingdom of God. He also encourages them that justice will be served on their afflicters. God is watching. Also, some people had come in Paul's name telling them that Christ had already come and that they just missed it which is such a terrible thing to say to a persecuted people trying to remain faithful. Paul, of course, sets the record straight that he never said that and he would never say that.

The second letter to the church in Thessalonica, as with the first, gives us a clear view of a church formed under pressure and of people remaining faithful to God and yet people flawed, just like we are, broken, just like we are, trying to figure it out, just like we do. Like many other books of the Bible, if we’ll look close enough, we can identify the human experience of faith in these people just like we can in our own lives, so we begin 2 Thessalonians.

Prayer

Father, we thank you for your Word and the tremendous amount of enlightenment and encouragement that it brings to our lives as we feed on it every day to nourish our souls because it orients us to you. It brings us to you and you are the source of life itself. How can we not thank you for this gift that you’ve given us? We find so much of our own story in all of the stories that are in the scriptures because these are people who are pursuing and drifting and falling away and running away and coming back. All of the different issues of life, all of the lives that have found their way into the scriptures are really not any different than our own pursuits. We begin to realize that this is us. We’re just wearing different clothes. We just have different technologies. This is a different culture, but the heart of man is the same and you are the same and you are in it with them and you are in it with us. So we invite you fully, Holy Spirit, to come into this day, into these moments, into this week, into the rest of this year. We need you. We need you at all times and in all places. We’re lost without you. We are also dead without you. So come, we pray. We need your life. We need your grace and kindness and counsel and reproach. We need you to father us. Come, we pray. We open ourselves fully to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Www.DailyAudioBible.com is home base. It is the website. It is certainly where you find out what’s going on around here and some cool Reframe things are going on around here. Let's see, how do I unpack this? We have released the Reframe Films which is perfect for an individual just to take the message and go deeper with some really, really fascinating things to contemplate. The films are beautiful. You can watch a trailer and peek into them at www.ReframeBook.com and get a copy of that. But if you're willing to form a group or get Reframe into the hands of the people that you love and maybe come around that, then we will send the films, the DVD to you postage paid, done deal, to your door, and also send you a link so you can download the films for free. If you will get seven copies of Reframe from one of the retailers at www.ReframeBook.com and then just email us the receipt, email the receipt to Reframe@DailyAudioBible.com then we will set it all in motion and contact you with links, etc., etc. If you get 10 books or more, we’ll send you the DVD plus another Reframe book, only this is a signed first edition of Reframe to your door free of charge.

But here's the exciting thing – a retail partner, Lifeway, which has upwards of 200 stores around the United States, so there may be a Lifeway in your town, but they are certainly also online and you can find a direct link to Reframe and the Lifeway link at www.ReframeBook.com, they this week and this week only have Reframe 50% off, so this is a great time for Christmas, a great time to grab enough books to start a small group or to get them into the hands of the people you love. Our second Reframe Periscope, and we had a blast – I had never done an official Periscope. We messed around with it a little bit a couple of times, but never did an official Periscope and it was fun and crazy cool in a neat sort of way. We ended up crashing the server, like overloading, so some people weren’t even able to get in. That was a drag, but it was cool to have so many people and such wonderful conversation. We did that last Thursday. This Thursday will be part 2 of our large small group. That is the 15th at 7:30 p.m. Central Standard Time in the United States. You’ll have to figure that out – I know what that is in the United States. If you're on the East Coast it is 8:30 p.m. If you're on Mountain Time it will be 6:30 p.m. and if you're on the West Coast it will be 5:30 p.m. As far as the rest of the world goes, I can’t keep up with all the changes so you’ll just have to sort that out. But it's easy enough to do, just google it.

If you don’t have Periscope yet, just go get the Periscope app for your Android or iOS device. It's free. Once you get it and load it, search for Daily Audio Bible or follow @DailyAudioBible and then you’ll be alerted when we go live.

We also have a very, very vibrant Facebook Group for Reframe and there is vibrant conversation that is happening there, so that is at www.Facebook.com/Groups/ReframeBook. There is always conversation happening there as well.

And the Reframe Tour lands this coming Sunday in Charleston, SC at Daniel Island Fellowship, www.DanielIslandFellowship.org is their website. Then on the 25th, rounding out October, I’ll be bringing Reframe to Richland, WA, the Tri-Cities area of Washington to Columbia Christian Church, C3 as it is known, and their website is www.FamilyFaith.com. You can get their address, etc. there. Looking forward to seeing you out on the road for the rest of this month then we’ll move into November.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, then like I say most days, can’t thank you enough. There is no other way. This whole thing, all the spinning servers, all of the data, terabyte after terabyte after terabyte blasting its way around the world, all of the community, all that we are, we have only ever done together. Thank you for your partnership in giving life into the Daily Audio Bible and the community and the mission that we have to bring the spoken Word of God to anyone who will listen, any time of day or night, anywhere in the world. There is a link in the upper right-hand corner of www.DailyAudioBible.com. Or if you prefer, the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996, Spring Hill, TN 37174.

And, as always, if you have a prayer request or comment, (877) 942-4253 is the number to call.

And that’s it for today. I’m Brian. I love you. I’ll be waiting for you here, tomorrow.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Hi. This is Anna from Maryland. I'm so glad. I’ve been reading my book, my Reframe book and it has been blessing my soul. I just thank God for an opportunity to call. I want to first call and pray for Jeff who lost his father. I'm so glad, Jeff, that your mother is doing better. Lord, in the name of Jesus, you touch Jeff and his mother and their family, Lord, in the loss of their father. Lord, you are acquainted with his grief because you cried at the grave of Lazarus, your best friend. Lord, let them know that they are not alone and it is a blessing when someone dies in the Lord because we know in our heart that we will see them again. O Lord, I thank you for your blessing, Lord. I thank you for strengthening that family, Lord. I thank you for your goodness. Lord, I want to pray also for Isabelle and the prayer with what she is going through with her husband and the trust. Lord, only you, Lord, only you, Father, who can build back trust, Lord. O Father, in the name of Jesus, Lord, you guide her by your Holy Spirit, Lord. O Father, let your Holy Spirit comfort her heart in knowing that her husband loves her and that the enemy allowed him to make a mistake, the enemy encouraged him or tricked him or whatever, but God is faithful because he allows us, our marriages to stay together if we have a heart that forgives. O Lord, I ask you to touch her heart, Lord, and touch his heart, Lord, that he will continue to walk in your way, Lord, that you will strengthen him and guide him, Lord, in the name of Jesus. Lord, I thank you. Lord, I thank you for Caroline.

Dear Father, please have mercy on Candace. Touch her body and heal her. I pray that you will protect the baby you placed in her. Calm her heart, O God, Mark's heart and the heart of her sister, Sarah from North Carolina, and give them peace. I cancel every plan of the devil concerning Candace. I bind every demon assigned to harass and trouble this lady, in the name of Jesus. I declare that evil strategy concerning her must fail. Keep her strong, Lord, and help her to deliver her baby, Trevor, safely, in the name of Jesus. Chante, praying that God will give you peace, that he will calm your heart and give you rest. The Word of God says that he gives his beloved rest. Praying that you will learn to trust God and rest in him, that he will help you prioritize and be okay with the things that do not get done, in the name of Jesus. Don’t overburden yourself, Sister. I pray that God will provide for your family finances, in the name of Jesus, and that God's peace will wrap around you, in Jesus’ name. Matt from UK, I'm praying that God will provide for your needs and that he will give you wisdom to get an additional source of income or a better job, that he will promote you, his will would be done in your life. Lastly, I pray that he will provide you with an even better home with affordable range where you and your family can move into well before Easter next year, in the name of Jesus. Father, please make a way for Matt and his family, in Jesus’ name. Lori, what a testimony regarding Nick. I thank God for his healing power over Nick. I pray that God would continue to draw Nick closer to him, in the name of Jesus, and that Nick would have a deep, intimate relationship with God, in Jesus’ name. Carla, shout-out to you. God bless you, my sister. God does hear you. I'm praying that he will wrap his arms around you and comfort you, in the name of Jesus. Blessings on you, my sister. This is Biola from Maryland. Brian, God bless you. Still waiting for my Reframe. Jill, God bless you. I pray that God would continue to fortify your ministry, in Jesus’ name.

Show Me God's Love, Job chapter 1 and 5. When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts. This was Job's regular pastime. Heavenly Father, thank you for this day and thank you for all of the things you're doing in our lives, especially with our prodigals. We come to you, Lord, and ask that you would convict the hearts of our children to draw closer to you and to seek you. We ask that you would forgive them for the sins that they have committed and __________. Please convict their hearts to draw them closer to you. We don’t offer burnt sacrifices anymore, because Jesus is our sacrifice, so we thank you for that. Thank you for everything that you're doing, Lord, and thank you for taking care of our children. In Jesus’ name we pray, and anybody that wants to lift their faith with my faith about their children or anyone that you know, so you agree out load and amen and amen, Father. Thank you. I'm going to ask you to put your faith with my faith about my middle child who we’ll call DX3 right now. He is behaving in a manner that is greatly contrary to how he was raised and I try to make a regular practice of praying for all of my children, but he especially needs attention in the way of prayers, so please agree with me about him in Jesus’ name and do it aloud and I thank you. Show Me God's Love at Gmail, Facebook, Twitter.

This is Candace from Oregon. I have had such a special day that I really had to share it. It's Sunday, October 11 and probably one of the first things that happened was I was listening to today's Daily Audio Bible, and I’ll get back to how amazing that became, but I went on to spend a couple hours in prayer on behalf of my husband and all who would be attending a 7-week Sunday School Class for adults that he began today and it went really well. It is a life-changing, life-renewing, life-infusing time. It is going to be an amazing time. Meanwhile, I was just kind of stopped cold when Brian read from Jeremiah chapter 17. I ended up writing down… The weather was good and I ended up on this unexpected long walk, just was outside most of the day, and I wrote down all the words in Jeremiah 17 from verse 5 through 16. I want to point out at the end of verse 13 where the Lord is called the fountain of living water. But that chapter, Jeremiah 17, really was so clear. God was telling me he wanted me to obey him and make this day truly a Sabbath day where I just stop and be with him. What a wonderful day it was. I'm really looking forward to a few more chapters from Reframe hopefully tonight if I can get even some more quiet. Those of you who haven’t called lately, we miss you. We know that this might not be the time, but we’re praying for you. We’re remembering…

Hey Daily Audio Bible. This is your friend, Christian, calling from Centreville, IL. I love your program. Love everything you're doing. Been walking with you 10 months of this year. I'm calling for a prayer request for the family. We’re called to do what we’re supposed to in these last evil days. I'm calling also for my church in Centreville, IL, Original House of Prayer to All Nations, praying that we are strengthened, pray that we hold steadfast to the apostles’ doctrine and just pray that we are continually doing what we’re called to do in these last evil days. Thank you and I love you, Brian. You're doing an awesome job. Have a blessed night.

Hi my DAB family. This is Mark S. from Sydney Australia. Brian and family, thank you so much for this ministry. I bought your copy of Reframe and am waiting eagerly for it to come but it is still in transit in Australia. I’ve also bought the Promised Land DVD. I have downloaded the chapters and started watching them. They are awe-inspiring. Thank you so much for all the prayer warriors – Blind Tony, Joe the Protector, Pastor Gene, Slave of Jesus, Biola from Maryland, Sinner Redeemed and all the ones I’ve forgotten to mention. Your love for all the members is truly Christ-like. You do make a difference in everybody's lives. Even though I did not call in for over a year, I’ve always listened and prayed along. Special shout-out for Joe the Protector. My friend's wife Jenny has had the brain tumor removed successfully but is still having seizures. The doctors did say this could be part of the healing process, but they could be permanent. Please pray for Jenny, that she recovers from all these seizures. Also, a shout-out to Slave of Jesus and Biola from Maryland for praying for my prayer request for healing with my ex-wife. You will be glad to know I have mustered the courage to text my ex-wife for a meeting this Thursday, the 15th. Please pray she will respond to this meeting. Hopefully I should be able to call back with a praise report soon. I love you all and God bless you all and I hope everything goes well for everyone. Bye.
