Today is the 24th day of October. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is good to be here with you at the close of another week. It's a travel day for me. I’ll have to board a big plane and fly far, far away from the rolling hills of Tennessee to the big mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Looking forward to being in the Tri-Cities of Washington tomorrow, but we’ll talk about that in a bit. So we’ve been reading from the Modern English Version this week, which is what we’ll close our week off doing.
Commentary
In Paul's letter to Timothy, which I’ve been saying all along, these are the final writings, the final letter of the apostle Paul before his execution, we come to the reason, the scripture that details the reason for why there is a Daily Audio Bible. It is our foundational ruling scripture. It is why we do this every day.
All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
That is why we do this, gang. That is why we bother. That is why we all come together around the global campfire and orient ourselves to God.
This scripture is in the context of a greater argument where Paul is telling Timothy lots of people are going to say lots of things. Lots of people are going to do lots of things and some people are going to follow those people. Some people are going to be led astray. Some people are going to be led into confusion. Some people are just going to go off the rails. That is the nature of humanity. That is the nature of life, but you, Timothy (and this is where we get into the major theme – Paul, knowing that it is just a matter of time, is saying this), listen, stay true to what I have shown you. Stay true. You have watched me suffer for this. You have watched me stay true. You have watched me be persecuted and afflicted. You’ve seen what I’ve endured because I believe this with all of my heart. You’ve watch God deliver all of us. You’ve watched this. You know this. This has been implanted into you, embedded into you. You have been mentored in this. You know the foundational truths. Since your childhood you’ve known the scriptures and they are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith that is in Jesus. You know this. Stay true to the fundamentals. Stay true to the essentials. Lots of people are going to say lots of things and you’ve got to be able to parse through what is essential and what is not essential. You’ve also got to be wise, maybe even wiser than your age and wisdom afford you about not getting pulled into meaningless argument that will go nowhere, that there is no end to and that aren’t unto anything. You’ve got to stay true to the foundational essentials.

Prayer
Father, we are thankful for both, but behind all of that, none of it would exist without you Word. We are thankful for your Word and the way that you’ve allowed us to come together around it, allowing it to wash over us, to wash us clean and expose all of the things that you are after in our lives. We are grateful for your kindness. We are grateful for your love. We are grateful for our community and we are grateful for each other. So we invite you once again to plant these things deep into our lives, constantly being the measuring rod and being the compass that navigates our lives. Come Holy Spirit we pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports
Hey DAB family. This is Rob S., Worship Dude in Nashville, TN. I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who listen and pray along. Especially thanks to Slave of Jesus for mentioning me in a prayer request. Thank you so much. So a couple of people I want to just lift up right now. First, James the teacher from L.A., thank you for calling in your intercession for Alleah and I was listening to your testimony at the end of your call and it just reminded me of the scripture that says commit your ways to the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. I think that is Psalm 37:4-5. So anyway, just praying that the Lord would continue to bless the desires you have in your heart and especially your baby coming soon. Also want to lift up Lisa from I think it is __________, CA. Praying for your marriage, just that God would turn around what was meant for harm and bring something more stronger and more powerful in your marriage relationship and healing for you and Ian. Finally, I want to lift up Greg, the flight instructor from Fallbrook, CA, your difficulties with the license suspension and that kind of thing, praying that God would give you his peace. Brother, you may have to go through this valley. I pray that the Lord would encourage you. I would encourage you to even think creatively on other ways to generate income, if that becomes necessary, but just trust God, that he is with you in this situation. This is Debbie. I’ve been listening for about four years and I love you all. Please pray for my son Michael. He is in Sarasota County Jail right now. I pray that whatever it would take for Michael to come back to the Lord, that would happen. This is what the Lord has planned, so I just need all of your prayers because there are days when I just fall apart knowing he is in this place. He has type 1 diabetes. It is not being taken care of properly, so his body is breaking down. He is only 19. All I want from you guys is pray that I can stay healthy and be able to get through this and mainly for Michael's salvation and for him to come fully to the Lord and repent and for him to be able to be allowed into Teen Challenge or some other Christian based place where he can serve his time. That is the main thing – serving his time in a Christian atmosphere and for him to repent and for all of us to get through this. I pray this in Jesus’ name and I thank you all and I love you all. Hello Daily Audio Bible family. It's Sheila from Massachusetts. I want to start by just praising God for this family. I really do feel like all of you are my brothers and sisters in Christ. I feel very close to all of you who call in. I know that is a work of my heart and thank God for increased compassion and empathy and extending love in his name. Today I want to pray for Lisa and her husband Ian. Lisa, you said that as the two of you get closer to the Lord in your marriage, you're experiencing spiritual warfare right now. It is tearing at the fringes of your marriage and Ian has moved out and taken all his things. Sister, my husband and I have been in that position. We were really trying to center our marriage on our Father and spiritual warfare took hold and really pulled at us. Prayer is such a strong weapon. I'm praying for you as I'm sure the rest of our family is. Lord, I just want to lift Lisa and Ian up in prayer and every marriage that is centered around you. It is such a strong powerful force, this world that we live in. Lord, protect them. Watch over them, in the name of Jesus. We bind all the spirits that are coming against them and cast them out from their marriage. Make room for the light and love of God to spread between the two of them. Lord, I pray for their reconciliation and pray for your name to be on the front of their lips to be an example and a light for others. The enemy hates strong marriages. Lord, he just hates them. Hi family. This is Shannon from Texas. I wanted to thank Center, as I like to call you. I’ve always thought your name was Center. I actually looked that up and what came up was the center of something would be the heart. I don’t think that was a coincidence. Thank you for praying for me regarding my son. Also, Rumbii, thank you for praying for me. Both times that you guys prayed for me, I was listening to the DAB at night and I woke up right at the very moment that you guys were praying for me and I know that was the Holy Spirit waking me. I called so that you guys could help me pray. I'm at my job right now. I work for an agency. We help victims and survivors of domestic violence which is very near and dear to my heart. A woman gave me permission to pray for her son Delbert. She is having to pick him up from school and he is cutting himself and hurting himself in various ways. She is having to go to the hospital to meet him. They are taking him to a place that is not a place that I would recommend that anyone go. It is actually a hospital that they get people addicted to more medication than anyone should ever be taking. She gave me permission for you guys to pray and to help me pray for him, so please lift up Delbert and his family in prayer. Thank you. I love you. Bye-bye.
