Jeremiah 51:54-52:34 ~ Titus 3:1-15 ~ Psalm 100:1-5 ~ Proverbs 26:18-19

Today is October 28th. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m coming to you from the rolling hills of Tennessee, back home. It was a good trip to the Pacific Northwest. I’m glad to be back in the rolling hills where autumn is upon us and it’s pretty beautiful. Actually, it’s been kind of in bloom for a while; that chill in the air. Actually, Tennessee has a beautiful autumn. It’s most people’s favorite time of the year – it’s temperate, it’s beautiful, and just all of the colors, we just really get them in spades here. So, it’s good to be back in the rolling hills of Tennessee. It’s good to be together with you. We’re reading from the Names of God Bible this week and we’ll pick up in Jeremiah where we left off yesterday.

Commentary

Okay, so Titus is receiving the same instructions Timothy did from Paul. So Paul is writing to his two sons in the faith who he’s raised up into senior leadership at early major churches, he’s telling them both ‘don’t let things go sideways by getting yourself in all of these quibbling theological squirmishes. They are not going anywhere. They are not going to bring about anything good. Stay out of them,’ which is fascinating because this is a common theme. It wasn’t something that was going on with Timothy that he felt he needed to say because of maybe Timothy’s predisposition to get into these arguments or whatever. He’s saying it to them both. So this is like stuff that was going on, that is still going on, and the counsel is still valid and still true.

Paul says, look, yes, teach correct doctrine; yes, let your life be the validation of that doctrine; yes, correct; yes, teach; but that’s the end of it. Where we usually go sideways is that we’ve got to hammer somebody over the head and tell them they are so out of line in some sort of way, that it’s not about just sharing what we think is right, it’s about forcibly making somebody else convert to what we think is right, as if we can do the job only the Holy Spirit can do. And so, it’s like valid counsel. We have seen so much of it and I know you have too.

The compelling love of the Lord Jesus Christ entering into a relationship with God – this is something that can’t be forced on someone else. You can’t make somebody love someone. They choose to. They give their hearts. So all of the quibbling and bashing and trying to force the issue isn’t persuasive or compelling. What is compelling is the weight of our lives and the profound difference that it makes because we are in a relationship with God. And so may we heed the counsel of the great apostle Paul as we deal with the world and as we deal with our brothers and sister.

Prayer

Father, this is what we ask for – your wisdom, your kindness, your gentleness, your mercy, your forthrightness, those things coming up from the well within us where he Holy Spirit resides that we might be your hands and feet in this world. This is only possible with the presence of your Holy Spirit and so we invite your Holy Spirit to come continue the process of sanctifying us, renewing us. We need this in our own lives and in every relationship we have. So, come Holy Spirit, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Announcement

www.DailyAudioBible.com is the website. It’s home base. Of course, it’s where you find out what’s going on around here and plenty always seems to be happening around here. Tomorrow night, 7:30 p.m. Central Standard Time, will be our final Periscope, our large small-group that we’ve been having for the past few weeks around Reframe and the themes in the Reframe book and so we will be kind of wrapping that up. Looking forward to it. If you haven’t been able to attend one of those, do. It’s a heck of a lot of fun and so, looking forward to that tomorrow night.

And then looking forward into the weekend, November 1st we will be Kentucky at New Song Christian Fellowship. Www.NewSongLouisville.org is their website where you can find out service times and directions and that kind of thing. I’m looking forward to seeing you in Louisville. And then after that, there will be two more weeks – November 8th we’ll be in Chattanooga; November 15th we’ll be in San Diego. And I’m looking forward to our time out on the road with Reframe.

As I’ve been mentioning all month, through the month of October, we’ve been doing everything we can to encourage the formation of groups to discuss, to take this message further, to be the ambassadors for Reframe. So, if you grab yourself seven copies of Reframe and make a group or give them to the ones that you love or give them to your family members and just kind of check in with each other on it, we’ll send you the Reframe films DVD, free, postage paid to your door and send you a voucher so you can download the films as well. All you got to do is click one of the links at www.Reframebook.com, pick your retailer, and then e-mail your receipt to Reframe@dailyaudiobible.com and we will hook you up. If you get ten or more books then we will send you the DVD and throw in another copy of Reframe book – signed first edition copy of Reframe – and that will run through the end of the month, which happens to be exactly (if we count today) four more days. So, jump on that if you can.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, you can do that at www.DailyAudioBible.com. There’s a link on the home page in the upper right-hand corner or the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996, Spring Hill, TN 37174.

Of course, as always, if you have a prayer request or comment, (877) 942-4253 is the number to call.

And that’s it for today, I’m Brian. I love you. I’ll be waiting for you here, tomorrow.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Hello, this is Karen from Boca Raton and I’m calling to say that I love you guys so much and I listen to you every day and I’m so grateful to have you in my life. And I’d like to ask for a prayer for my dear son. He’s such a wonderful boy and has gotten involved with drugs so badly and spiraled so deeply out of control. I fear for his well-being in so many ways. He’s leaving to move tomorrow and driving on his own and I don’t even know if he’ll get there safely. There are so many problems in this home. We are under attack. My husband has been out of work for two of the last three years. With my medical bills, we are financially broken and we can’t help our son in the way he needs it. Just ask you to pray, pray for my dear son to help him find the Lord in his heart because I know it’s there and to cleanse himself of all the hurt and pain he is carrying, to guide his life anew and be safe on his journey he’s about to undertake. And please bless my family who is trying so hard to be supportive and it’s been hard. God bless you all and God bless the Daily Audio Bible and thank you for all that you’ve done. I love you all so much. Amen.

Hi Daily Audio Bible. This is Rachel just ringing in from Australia. I’m just ringing and asking for prayer. We were able to be remarried again after a period of seven years’ separation. And we’ve now been married about 11 months. And we have a promise of restoration. God has given us a promise, a beautiful promise of restoration; but we face some challenges, obviously. And as we stop to reveal something, then, we just... I'm just asking for prayer. Just reaching out and we’d really value your prayers and anyone who feels led to just lift us and pray for us and that God will help us build something beautiful which he will, but just reaching out and asking for prayer sometimes. We actually don’t know how to bring about that promise and yet we need his help and we need the help of family and ask that God will bring some creative ideas or people across our paths. Anyway, just appreciate you all very much and thank you for your prayers more than you will ever know. We are already this far along in the path of restoration, I believe, because of the prayers of faithful people and God’s help. So thank you. It’s amazing. Thank you very much.

Hi family, this is Biola from Maryland. I hope you all are doing well. Brian and Jill, God bless you and the ministry of Reframe. I pray that God will continue to prosper that in the life of people in Jesus’ name. Drew from the Bay area, I’m rejoicing with you about the part–time job. Keep offering praise to God, brother, a better permanent job is coming your way, in Jesus’ name. I believe it with all my heart. I’m impressed by your diligence of seeking employment. The Word of God says in Proverbs 22:29 that a man who is diligent in his work will stand before kings and not before ordinary men. So Drew, I declare that word over you, that God will open up doors for you, there will be divine connections with important people and you will get a very good job soon, in the name in Jesus. My brother who rededicated his life to God and everything seems to be going from bad to worse, I prayed for you; but I’m giving you a shout out here on the line. I’m praying for God’s protection over you and your loved ones. I cancel every plan of the devil concerning you and I thrust every strategy devised against you. The Word of God says that we should put on the whole armor of God so that we can stand against the wiles of the devil. So keep trusting God, using your shield of faith to deflect every doubt thrown at you. Keep praising God and God will bless you. Walta, praising God for his work of deliverance in your son’s life. I’m praying that God will draw your son closer to him, in the name of Jesus. So keep trusting God, sister. Lisa from California, God hears you. I’m praying that he will touch your heart and Ian’s heart so that there can be reconciliation between both of you. I pray that God will heal your marriage and help you to truly forgive one another, in the name of Jesus. Greg from California, I’m agreeing with you in prayer that God will intervene in your situation and give you favor before the authorities. Whatever happens, brother, I pray that God will provide for your needs. Please make a way for your son, O God, and have mercy on him, in the name of Jesus. Daniel from Singapore, I’m praying for healing for your friend DJ. Father, Lord, watch over his body and healing in Jesus’ name. God bless you.

Hey Dabbers, it’s Becky, previously from Norway; now it’s Becky in Philadelphia. And I just want to call and connect with you guys. I know it’s been a while. I have been two months in New Jersey and then one month working what felt like 24/7 at the new Young Life property camp in Scotland in the United Kingdom; and then I had two months with my family in Colorado. And now I felt like God is just really opening up some interesting doors for me here in Philadelphia so I bought a one-way ticket and I’ve been here for a week and a half. It’s fantastic and I have an amazing place to live and I’ve been making some really great connections here in the city and just trying to keep my eyes and my ears and my heart open to opportunities that this city might hold. I don’t have a job at this moment. I’m not entirely certain if I’m supposed to be working just kind of an everyday job or if I’m just to be looking for a career move or yeah, I don’t have any idea, none whatsoever. And so I’m just trying to wait patiently on the Lord for the next steps. Who knows what it is going to be, it could be anything. I mean, who knows what tomorrow’s going to bring? But I’m really excited to be here and to just really walk hand in hand with the Lord. It’s been some really hard months and I think my absence from calling in to the community is pretty, you know, evidence of that; but I’m trying to get back on track. I don’t have much else to say about it but I want you guys to know that I love you and that I think of you so often. I just hope for love…

Good morning, Daily Audio Bible and God bless you all. Today is the 24th, the last Sunday in October. I’m calling you at 3:47 in the morning. God bless you all. I lift everyone up. Philippians 4:6 – 7, the Lord says be anxious for nothing but in everything, prayer in supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Jehovah Jireh is your provider. Jehovah Shalom is your Prince of Peace. Jehovah Rapha is your healer. Everyone that’s having a specific need, make those specific needs known out loud to God. Trust and believe that he will come through for you, no matter what the situation in your life. And I touch and agree and look forward to you praise report. In Jesus’ name, have a great upcoming week. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
