Ezekiel 45:13-46:24 ~ 1 Peter 1:13-2:10 ~ Psalm 119:33-48 ~ Proverbs 28:11

Today is November 23rd. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It's great to be here with you today on this Thanksgiving week and the beginning of the holiday season we’re moving into. It's really important that we consider how we want to finish our year. Do we want to finish strong or do we want to fade? Because as beautiful, as amazing as the holiday season can be, as beautiful as the season of Advent is, as amazing as the Christmas season is in our lives, it also amps up everything, so we certainly experience the spirit of Christmas in our joy, but it also amps up our tension and anxiety and all of the stuff that goes with intermingling and families and all of this. So we have to decide ahead of this, which is right now because we’re just ahead of it, that I'm not losing shalom, I'm not losing my peace, I'm not losing my orientation to God through the scriptures. This rhythm of my life is what keeps me whole and sane. I'm not losing that. So may we all do that together as we move forward into maybe the most busiest time of the year, but the most beautiful, blessed time in the scriptures and time of the year together.

So with all of that said, we’re reading from the English Standard Version this week, Ezekiel 45 today.

Prayer

We thank you, Father, that you have called us out of darkness as we read of in 1 Peter today. You have called us out of darkness and into your marvelous light. What can we say but thank you? What posture can we have but that of gratitude? We could never come into your marvelous light on our own and we’ve done our best to manufacture an imitation of it our whole lives. We’ve tried to arrange for things. We’ve tried to master things, but it is not something that we can force our way into. You’ve called us into your marvelous light. We didn’t have to do anything but come, come into this marvelous light and out of darkness. Once we hadn’t received mercy but now we have. Nothing can be the same after that. You have loved us well. We can’t say the same for our return. We can’t say that we’ve always loved you well, but you have loved us well and you have hoped for us so we come running out of darkness into your marvelous light, set apart, chosen, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for your own possession. Oh, we are most grateful and may our lives be the very representation of that gratefulness. May we bask in your marvelous light and in your very presence and be your hands and feet in this world, being built up as living stones, being built up as a spiritual house to be the holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to you through Christ our Lord. That you have invited us into this grand story, that you have given us the breath of life and allowed us to be a part of your story is beyond words, beyond comprehension. So we honor you. We rejoice in you. We believe you. We trust you. We worship you. We glory in you. We love you, Lord, and we give ourselves back to you. We pray these things and declare them in the name of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.

Announcements

Www.DailyAudioBible.com, that's home base. It’s the website. It's where you find out what’s going around here and its Thanksgiving week and sort of the inauguration of the holiday season and all that goes along with that, so I'm excited. I love Christmastime. I love trimming the tree and all that stuff. I love the lights. I love all that. I also know that it is a busy, busy, busy time of year and so, like I was saying, we just have to choose ahead of time not to lose the rhythm of the scriptures in our lives and be completely taken out right at the end of the year.

But I do love this season. I love the Daily Audio Bible Christmas Box that we put together every year and that will be coming this Friday. We’ll have some women's conference news as well. This year the conference is rebranded and renamed with a whole new focus of things that Jill has been just pressing into all year long, actually even beyond that, but all year this year. So our women's conference will be called the More Gathering because there is so much more and we know it. So early registration will start this weekend as well. We’ll get you more details as we go through a couple more days. I'm excited about all of this.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible you can do that at www.DailyAudioBible.com. There is a link. It is in the upper right-hand corner of the home page. Thank you sincerely, humbly, honestly. Thank you for allowing the Daily Audio Bible to exist as the community that it is. If you prefer, the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996, Spring Hill, TN 37174.

And, as always, if you have a prayer request or comment, (877) 942-4253 is the number to dial.

And that’s it for today. I’m Brian. I love you. I’ll be waiting for you here, tomorrow.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Hi. This is Tommie in Montana and I am calling to say I pray for everyone that I hear. Everyone is praying along with you all. I'm going to mention one person because she is the last person I heard and I remember her name and her story and I’ve heard it a few times. That is Rebecca in Michigan. Rebecca, you have such a sweet way about you and you are going about things the right way, waiting for God to pick your mate. It is probably going to take a while to find that perfect person. Just keep being patient and listen to God, not your heart and not what that other person says, but listen to God and trust that what he is saying to you is the right thing for you to do. Also watch his actions more than his words and see how he gets along with the people around him, with his family members and does he have lots of friends. Those are the kinds of people that you have long term relationships with, these people can have long-term relationships with their spouses. And then, of course, be a friend first. God is going to bless you. I know it. You also have been having trouble on the bus and I think the right thing to do for you is do go to those above you. I think I heard you say once that they don’t listen, but just keep praying and praying and pray for this child that is giving you such a hard time. I also want to say I'm a mother of many children and I have three of them with addictions, two with alcohol and one addicted to mean women.

Hi Daily Audio Bible family. It is Martin here from France, ringing first of all to thank Becky from Orlando for your call and for your prayers for the team. Thank you very much. We’re all safe. I was amazed, too, to see that Bible Gateway had put a whole banner across their site encouraging people to pray for France. Thank you. I guess France will experience more bloodshed before we’re finished, but we believe, like Esther, we have been called for such a time as this. I noticed on the site for Prayercast, there were three prayer pointers and I would like to read those and ask everyone to pray for France. Pray for the living God to shatter the power of spiritual oppression and atheism. Pray for compelling Christ-likeness on both foreign and indigenous believers. Pray for Christ to transform Muslim immigrants into bold proclaimers of the gospel. Thank you, family, for praying with us. May God bless you. Bye.

Good morning DAB family. This is Paula, the child advocate from the Los Angeles area calling. Today is November 19th and I’ve been calling the last few months asking for prayer for a little girl that I advocate for, a foster child. Her name is Mel. She ran away back in March, so I haven’t seen her since then and I wanted to give you an update because today is actually Mel's 16th birthday and Mel is pregnant. Her baby boy is due in February. The good news, family, is that I thank you for your prayers because they’ve been answered. Mel is back in protective custody. She came back into custody about three weeks ago due to the fact that she got a very bad urinary tract infection, ended up in the hospital and then social services was notified. So she is now in a very good place in a group home with other pregnant teens. So I ask you all to please keep praying for Mel. She hasn’t decided yet whether she is going to keep her baby or not. And also please pray that she stays in this home, that she doesn’t run again, because she is getting the help she needs there. A special shout-out to Pastor Gene. I thank you so much for praying for me and for Mel and I pray also for all of you out there who are having difficulties with their young people, their teens and young adults, and also my heart goes out to all of you who have been calling in who have problems in their marriages. I am praying for all of you, those who call in and those who don’t. I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and I will keep you updated with Mel. Again, thank you again for your prayers. Bye now.

Truly my soul waiteth upon God. From him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation. He is my defense. I shall not be greatly moved. Psalm 62:1-2. This is Bren from California and I pray that this word would bless you this day. Thank you and God bless you.
