Hosea 6:1-9:17 ~ 3 John 1:1-15 ~ Psalm 126:1-6 ~ Proverbs 29:12-14
Today is December 7th. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s a pleasure to be here with you today, like it is every day. It’s a travel day, brief, had a couple of brief travel things to do so pack your bags. We’re going to go out to Colorado for one day for some meetings, and hopefully we’ll see some fluffy, powdery, beautiful snow while we’re there and then we’ll be back tomorrow. But before all of that, we have another step to take forward in the scriptures today. We’re reading from the God’s Word translation.

Introduction of a New Book

Alright, we’re moving quickly through the letters of John, 1st, 2nd and now today 3rd John and this was probably written right along with 2nd John or very shortly thereafter. It’s a little different than John’s 1st and 2nd letters in that this is a personal letter to a man named Gaius. The letter was probably written like the others from Ephesus where John spent the latter years of his life. Gaius was an upstanding Christian man who was a member of one of the nearby churches and he had a passion about assisting missionaries in the area and furthering the gospel of Jesus. And in a fascinating picture of church politics, early church politics, a man named Diotrephes inserts himself into the equation because he doesn’t like the way that Gaius is doing his missionary assistance. So John writes this letter to Gaius to affirm him in what he’s doing and to let him know that he’ll deal with the issue.

This letter helps us see lines of spiritual authority and also helps us see that some of the issues that we see around us today have always been around the church and were struggles even for the early church.

And so we read 3rd John.

Prayer

Father, we thank you for your Word, and as the book of Hosea says, yes, we return to you and learn about you. We get to know you. We walk in relationship with you. It’s our loyalty and fidelity you’re looking for, not our sacrifice. You want us to know you, not give you sacrifices or lip-service. So we once again enter into that story. That is our life story, to know you and to be known by you. So come Holy Spirit and plant the words spoken from the scriptures deep into our hearts and lives today, we pray, in the might name of Jesus, amen.

Announcements

Www.dailyaudiobible.com is the website. It’s where you find out what’s going on around and it’s all things Christmas around here right now. The Daily Audio Bible Christmas Box is available and chockfull of goodies, so check it out at the Daily Audio Bible Shop. You get there at www.DailyAudioBible.com.

The Daily Audio Bible Christmas cards are also available so check those out.

And we are collecting your Christmas wishes so that we can assemble our Daily Audio Bible Family Christmas for 2015. We’ve been talking about that for a few days. All you got to do is use the prayer line: (877) 942-4253, and just call in whatever you’d like to say to your brothers and sisters who have journeyed through the scriptures with you this year. The only rule about all that is that if you have a prayer request, you don’t combine it with a holiday greeting at the same time, just make them separate calls; but, yeah, call in. There’s still a little bit of time on that.

And then the More Gathering, the women’s conference that we put on every year is beyond words and beyond spectacular. It’s really, really amazing what Jesus does in the lives and stories of the women who attend this, and so we always try our best to have early registration around Christmastime. It makes for a one-of-a-kind, truly unique gift to send the woman or women in your life that you love and care about, to give them some space without obligation or responsibility or a bunch of stuff to think about or all of the disruptions of the day, just a few days to unplug from that and be poured into and have real honest time for quiet with God. It’s quite amazing; so check that out. Go to www.MoreGathering.com and you can get all of the details there.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible , you can do that at www.DailyAudioBible.com. I thank you for your partnership, here at the end of the year. The Daily Audio Bible is a community, we exist because we do what we do together; it’s only ever been that way, so thank you for your partnership. There’s a link on the home page, like I was saying, or if you prefer, the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996, Spring Hill, TN 37174.

And as always. If you have a prayer request or comment or holiday greeting right now, (877) 942-4253 is the number to call.

And that’s it for today. I’m Brian. I love you. I’ll be waiting for you here, tomorrow.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Good morning DAB. This is Jay calling from New Jersey. God bless all of you. Just wanted to give you guys a praise report. I called in and asked for prayer for my job situation. I have been having a lot of interviews. The wonderful thing when you have a job already and you’re looking for another one is that you don’t have to take everything they throw at you. So, it’s a big morale boost for me, letting me know that my skills are needed in the marketplace and your prayers are definitely working. Also, I need prayer for me and my wife and the stage we’re going through right now; but I’d also like to pray for other marriages out there that are going through. Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for your grace and your mercy. Father, we thank you now for your love, your kindness, your power, and your love. Because it’s so wonderful, your love is so amazing. We can’t even comprehend it. But Father, I pray right now that you would come into my heart, my wife’s heart, the hearts and minds of every married person under the sound of my voice and who is your child. Father, I pray that you would soften our hearts, open our minds to what it is that we need to do within ourselves to be more like Christ; to love like Christ, to forgive like Christ, to live like Christ in our marriages with our spouses, Father. We need you, God, to do this. We need you, Jesus, in order to do this. Show us the changes that we need to make within ourselves to be more like Christ.

Hello Brian and Jill, DAB prayer line family. This is Melisha. I am calling in reference to prayer. As we look in Psalms chapter 100 where it states in there enter the gates with thanksgiving and the courts with praise, I give thanks for Brian and Jill and the DAB prayer line family. And I would like for you to touch and agree with me in Matthew chapter 25 verse 20. God has given me many talents and that scripture refers to money but it also refers to the gifts and talents that God gives each of us, and knowing what we are called to do in the earth. I know what I’m called to do in the earth and God has a set the time for me to do it. I am retired out of the military and I’m having health issues, but with that, God is does not put no more on me than I can bear, according to his Word. So I’m asking you to stand in agreement with me, so I declare and decree that I will fulfill every calling upon my life that he has called upon me to do and fulfill by His strength, by His will and not mine. And that is my simple prayer. I pray these things not only for myself, for all of those that are struggling with what they are to do for God while they are here on this earth. In Jesus' name I pray. Have a good week and God bless.

Hi everybody, this is Martie calling from Maryland. This is December 2nd and I just want to say congratulations everybody. We have made it through 11 months of the year! I can remember last year, on January 1st my friends saying you should really check out Daily Audio Bible, and I am so glad I did! What a blessing it has been. Regardless through the year if I had ups or downs, I could always turn this on and know that everything would be okay. And a lot of it has to do with your prayers. A lot of it has to do with encouragement, so I just want to say thank you everybody. I know we only have a few seconds, but I just want to say let’s end this year with a spirit of expectation, expecting God to do the miraculous, expecting God to do the great. We know what it says in Jeremiah 29:11, for I know what I have planned for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper and not harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope. Let’s have hope! All those things we’ve been going through, all those things we’ve been praying for, let’s have hope that by December 31st, He will answer those prayers that we’ve been praying, that we’ve been crying out. We don’t have to wait till January 1. We can do it right now because God is not a God that says I have to wait till January 1st or I have to wait to do this thing. No, he says he can give it to us right now. Let’s end the year with a spirit of expectation. Happy Holidays to everybody and their families. I love you guys with my whole heart and I say that. And thank you for being so dear and thank you for loving me without even knowing my faith. You guys have a great one and let’s end this year out wonderful.

Hello. Good morning Daily Audio Bible. This is James from Arkansas. I’m very thankful for this prayer forum. I’m very thankful to be able to hear the scriptures read each and every day. It’s very peaceful and usually Brian always speaks somewhere out of those scriptures for that day. I’m calling basically for just, I guess you could say strength, restoration and just getting a word from the Lord more or less, a direct word from the Lord, a sense of direction, clarity, which I believe the God is beginning to give me but I’m just praying that He would make my pathway straight, that He would make his purposes and his plans totally crystal clear for me and that I would have the strength and the patience and the enduring ability to be patient and wait on those but yet daily looking forward to those things coming to pass He has for me; and to be ready to move into His position or the calling that he has upon my life. I do pray for the Daily Audio Bible and I pray that the ministry will continue to be blessed. I pray for all the calls. I listen to the prayers. I’ve been listening…

Hi Daily Audio Bible family, this is James, the teacher in L.A. I wanted to pray for Laura from New York who is having this ongoing custody battle. Father God, you know, I’ve lived through that custody hell as a kid and what I went through. Father, you know what she’s going through, what her kids are going through and everything that she’s lost because of it. I pray, Lord, that you would be her everything. Just as she has put her arms up and let go of everything in her life, I pray that you would fill her up with your presence, your joy, your strength, and that she wouldn’t feel like she’s lacking anything because she’s filled with you. And I pray that you help her to be part of this community more, that you fill her to overflowing so she can overflow to us and fill us to overflowing so we can overflow to her. And not just her, Lord, but to everybody who has had to give us so much and lose so much in this community, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen. Family, I love you guys. Asia in Munich, it was great to hear your voice again. I’ve been thinking about you. Thanks of mentioning me, it’s nice to be remembered. And Annette A., I haven’t heard from you in a while, where you at? Give a call in, check in, let us know you’re doing okay. Alright, love you guys. Bye-bye.
