Micah 1:1-4:13 ~ Revelation 6:1-17 ~ Psalm 134:1-3 ~ Proverbs 30:1-4

Today is December 15th. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. Hi, how are you today? It's good to be here with you today, glad we can have this time together taking another, a further step forward through the Bible toward the end of our journey for this year. The end of the journey has a lot of changes. We move into a lot of different books. Today we will venture into the book of Micah.

Introduction of a New Book (Old Testament)

Micah was a prophet. He was contemporary with the prophet Isaiah. He seemed to have the same kind of voice in the king's life, according to the book of Jeremiah, that the prophet Isaiah had. Pretty much everything else we know about Micah is found in the book of Jeremiah, that he prophesied during the days of King Hezekiah of Judah and that he was from the town of Moresheth.

Micah's prophetic book speaks directly against leaders who have led the people away from God and of the corruption that is involved in all of that. False prophets, rulers and priests have misled the people and because of this, judgment will fall. But Micah isn’t just a book of judgment and doom. It also has hope and speaks of the restoration of God's people and reiterates a message running through the whole Bible: God's judgment is certain and if we step out of his grace we’re certain to feel it. But after judgment comes restoration, so through the prophet Micah we see a clear line in the sand, as we often do in the Bible. God lays out the plan for justice, obedience and loyalty, but he also shows what happens when those requirements aren’t heeded or listened to.

So we begin Micah. We’re reading from The Message this week.

Prayer

Father, thank you for your Word and thank you for another day of life to experience it. Thank you for this community and your blessing over it. Thank you for all that you’ve done through your Word over these years. Thank you for all that you have left to do in our lives this year. We ask that your Holy Spirit plants deep within us the words spoken and we invite your Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth today in everything that we do and say and all that we think and feel, all of the postures of our heart, all the things hidden and the things known. Come Holy Spirit, we pray. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Announcements

Www.DailyAudioBible.com is the website. It's home base. It is where you find out what is going on around here and it is Christmastime, so the Daily Audio Bible Christmas Box is available. We’ve kind of figured, based on our shipping analyses, that a couple more days, the 17th will be the cut-off day for making sure that we can get things to you for Christmastime. If you’ve been sitting on the fence or kind of looking at it, the Christmas Box is amazing. It is chockfull of really amazing resources, some that you will want to keep, some that you’ll want to give away, so check them out.

The Daily Audio Bible Christmas cards are available as well in the Daily Audio Bible Shop.

And then we’re preparing for our Daily Audio Bible Family Christmas, so we’ll say the 17th for that, too. If you haven’t had a chance to call in your Christmas wishes to the community that you’ve spent the year with, (877) 942-4253 is the number to call. That's the prayer line, of course, so the only catch to that is just don’t make a prayer request/holiday greeting in the same call. We won't be able to edit that and use either one of them really. So if you have both, if you have a prayer request and a Christmas wish, just make them two different calls.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, you can do that at www.DailyAudioBible.com. There is a link and it lives in the upper right-hand corner. Thank you so much during this season for your partnership and helping the Daily Audio Bible move into the next year strong. If you prefer, the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996, Spring Hill, TN 37174.

And, as always, prayer request, comment, Christmas greeting? (877) 942-4253 is the number to call.

And that’s it for today. I’m Brian. I love you. I’ll be waiting for you here, tomorrow.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Stir up the gifts within me, Father, that I might truly be a blessing. Help me, Father, clearly see my sins that need confessing. I'm hard-headed and I'm stubborn at times and I'm very impatient with my old friends who still commit foolish crimes. It's really hard for me to believe that they really can’t see that without your protection how dead they would be. But it is always easy to see the splinter in someone else's eye. Help me, Father, clearly see my own sins, to accept them and not deny, for we all fall short and that is true without a doubt, but it is also true, Father, that there is no one that you can’t restore and bring out, from destructive behavior patterns and a hardened heart, no one you can’t heal, Father, and no one you can’t grant a new start. But each man must work out his own salvation with fear and trembling and meticulous care. Help me, Father, keep the focus on myself because each man has his own cross to bear. But each man also has his own gift. Help them to use it and not abuse it, to be a source of light and salt and bring all unproductive habits to a screeching halt. You said if we freely confess our sins that you're faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. Give me clean hands and a pure heart, Father, because I truly want to offer to you my very best. Stir up the gifts within me and help me to truly be a blessing and help me, Father, clearly see my sins that need confessing. BlindTony1016@gmail.com. It was nice hearing your voice again, Brother Drew. Haven’t heard you in a long time. Yeah. And it would be nice to hear from Brother Byron.

Hi Brian. Hi Daily Audio Bible. This is Elaine H. calling in. I just wanted to call in. I called in before. I'm just calling in again because I have some surgery coming up. I'm actually in Toronto, by the way, Toronto Canada. I have a surgery coming up on the 11th of this month which is this Friday and I would really appreciate the family, the Daily Audio Bible family to really just keep me in prayer. Thank you guys so much. I listen to the Daily Audio Bible all the time and I’ve been with you guys for years now. I just want to say, Brian, continue to do what you're doing. You guys are all awesome. And you know, just have a great evening. Bye.

This is Peg in Texas. I’ve been a part of DAB for several years now and I'm grateful for this ministry to my heart. I listen in the evenings as a rule and as I rule I listen sometimes more than once, asking the Holy Spirit to help me apply God's truth for all my life and praying over and over for some of the requests. I do take them seriously. They are the concerns of your hearts and minds. Tonight I turn to you wherever you are asking that you pray with me for our grandson, Alex. He is alone and feeling very alone. He wants community but doesn’t seek Christian community. He is 24, depressed, drinking, says he has no hope, no friends. Pray with me, please, that the craving of alcohol or any addictive substance will be removed from him and that the Spirit will penetrate deeply into his being, helping him to recall biblical truth he has heard. Pray with me that the grasp of the evil one would be broken, will be defeated. O Father, I thank you for your grace that you have made us your dearly loved children and I pray that we will love you with our whole hearts. Thank you for washing us clean from every sin and now I pray for Alex and for all wayward children, the children of our friends on this line, that you will draw them to yourself, convicting and convincing of truth, meeting needs through the wholeness in you. O Lord, we pray that you’ll minister and that you will bring people into their lives who minister to them. O Lord, may they not miss your best. Father, I just commit him and…

Hello my dear, dear brothers and sisters of the Daily Audio Bible. Thank you, Brian, so much for you and Jill, your entire family, your staff for this wonderful, wonderful ministry. Lord, I'm just reflecting and praising on hearing the prayers of my brothers and sisters and your praises. I just want to confess that there was a time when I didn’t listen to the prayers. I would just listen to the Word. Then I started listening to the prayers and it was just wonderful, but it got to be so many prayers that I have to confess that I would sometimes play it on 1-1/2 times speed, even sometimes 2 speed because we’ve grown so much. But brothers and sisters, I don’t do that anymore. I love it now. It is like a tapestry for me. I confess and I ask your forgiveness, brothers and sisters. I just love now joining in the concert of prayer with all of you, lifting it up to the Lord. Again, this is your brother Randy from Rocket City. Please forgive me for ever having sped up listening to the prayers.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible family. It's Sheila from Massachusetts calling and I wanted to say Brian, Jill, thank you so much for this ministry. I'm so grateful that you listened to God's call when he asked you to begin this. I’ve been with you since the beginning and I was just reflecting on how much life has changed as a result of this, how much time I spend during the day thinking about Daily Audio Bible family, lifting everybody up in prayer. It's just amazing how my heart has changed as a result of the Daily Audio Bible family. My husband and I began by listening to this together, oh gosh, I don’t know how years ago it started now, maybe 8? But I remember the beginning and the one thing I would ask for prayer is something my husband and I haven’t been able to do…well, we haven’t put on the schedule to do, we haven’t made the time since he started a new job recently and I miss that we don’t do that together anymore. It is something we used to talk about and talk about the people that call in for prayers and lift them up for prayers together as husband and wife. Please pray that we center around God again. We’ve drifted away a little bit, become lazy, watch a TV show instead of read the Word sometimes, so just pray that we come back to a place, come out of this laziness. I'm lifting you all up in prayers. I love you all. God bless.

Hey everybody. This is Pelham from Cullman calling my old __________. It's been a while since I’ve called. Brian said that it is incredible how connected the world is and how it lets us come together. It's also incredible how powerful the world can be to pull us apart and to bring so many things at us that we forget who we are and what we’re doing. So I wanted to call in. I'm married now and I love it. It's incredible. God has blessed us so much that my work schedule has changed and the mixed blessing of having more work and financial blessings has made it where I’ve got to make time now to get back into my Daily Audio Bible routine. As my friend Stephen, he listened to the Holy Spirit and he sent me a message and it was just at the right time. Of course, now I'm back. The Holy Spirit was just waiting for me. He sent me some messages saying, “hey, c’mon back. C’mon back.” So I'm coming on back which means next year I get to actually finish the Daily Audio Bible all the way through. I almost made it but I missed about 2-1/2 months. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm doing great. Molly and I are great. We’re trying to get pregnant, trying to have a baby. The Lord is going to bless us with that. Making the best pizza on earth down here in Alabama and just wanted to tell everyone I love you and thank you for your prayers. I'm sorry that I was the prodigal son, but hey, the story ends well. Love you guys.
