Zechariah 4:1-5:11 ~ Revelation 14:1-20 ~ Psalm 142:1-7 ~ Proverbs 30:21-23

Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. Today is December 23rd. Man, can you believe tomorrow’s Christmas Eve? Wow! It has moved. It’s just what happens, right? The year just gets going and then it’s gone. So, here we are at the cusp of Christmas. It’s great to be here with you today, that we can have this time to step out of all of the busyness that goes with this season and just center ourselves, just relax for a second, and just allow God to speak to us through his Word. We’re reading from the Modern English Version this week.

Prayer

Father, we thank you for your Word once again, as we do most every single day. This is why we congregate together. This is why we have a community at all because of the rhythm of your Word in our lives. And so we thank you, first, for your Word and we thank you for this community, that we’ve been together all year taking steps forward, following that rhythm, allowing your Word to be involved and interact with our lives every day, asking you to plant it into the soil of our hearts, changing and shifting our identity, continuing the process of sanctifying us and setting us apart as holy. We thank you that it’s more than just your Word, it’s your presence, that you are present to us as we make ourselves present to you. We thank you for all that you’ve done and all of the days that we’ve journeyed together this year. And we thank you for all that you have yet to do in the remaining time that we have in this year. And we invite you fully. We’re moving into this holiday season. We’re moving into a busy time of rejoicing and celebrating. Also a time, that for some, brings anxiety and a low emotional state of depression. Father, we just ask that your presence be among us, that we focus on what this means, that you came for us so that not only did we have to be alone on this earth, but we never have to be alone again, that for all eternity we have you and you have us. And so we ask that you come, Holy Spirit, and lead us into all truth. This is the promise of the scripture, that this is what you’ll do that your Spirit will lead us into all truth. We ask for that – lead us into the truth of your arrival, the truth of your coming for us, the truth that you will never leave us or forsake us, the truth that we will be together with you forever and ever, the comfort that comes from that, and you promised that your Spirit will come and be a comforter. So we invite you, Holy Spirit, to comfort and guide and direct us as we make ourselves present to you. Come Holy Spirit, we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Good morning Daily Audio Bible family. It’s Sheila from Massachusetts. Helen, it was so good to hear your voice. It was also amazing to have your friend call in the day before, that he had started listening to prayers again and heard me shouting out to you and asking how you were doing. God speaks to us in so many ways. He is just so magnificent. I’m calling in praise reports today. We praise God for my daughter, Annie. She has made it through her junior term of college. It’s the first time she has made it through a term without needing major assistance for her bipolar system and I want to praise God for that. Praise God! All you parents out there with children with mental illnesses, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, addiction – there is hope. And I’m not so naïve to think that this is a straight path forward, but as a mother, it is such a blessing to have your daughter accomplish something that other people her age are accomplishing in her life after she’s had so many setbacks from this disease. There is hope. There is hope in Jesus. I’m so grateful that I have him in my life and I will be able to rely on him to find some peace. God, thank you. Thank all of you who prayed and continue to pray for Annie, please, that God heals her, heals her mind, body and spirit. I also want to say a quick prayer for another family. His name is Jack. He suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder and I pray, I ask you to pray that the Lord heals his mind. Brilliant, beautiful, wonderful child. So please pray for Jack, that his OCD, he finds a way to manage it by a miracle.

Hey DAB. This is Jocelyn in Atlanta. I need prayer for my family right now. My cousin was in a really bad car accident and he doesn’t look good. He’s got multiple skull fractures and neck fractures and there is hemorrhaging on the brain and they’ve taken him off a ventilator. And my mom, who’s very close to him, is in Oregon right now with her sister. He’s one of three boys. He’s been struggling with lupus stage four and with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia for several years. He’s been drinking and driving. It is a very hard time for our family. I do not believe that he was saved. We talked about God and Jesus did not seem like something that he chose and it’s so heartbreaking. So if you could lift my family up at this time, I would greatly appreciate it. I’m very thankful that I can come and ask for your prayers and your support. Love you guys very much. Bye.

Hey Daily Audio Bible family. It’s James, the teacher in L.A. I’m actually calling back. I don’t know if either of them get played, but I already called in about the situation with my school district yesterday being shut down. Even before this, I’ve just been so convicted about our Muslim neighbors, our Muslim cousins here in the United States. The kind of things that people are saying about them horrify me, shock me. My family is of a Jewish background and I hear that people saying that they want to exclude whole groups of religious people from our country and it scares me. But even more, as someone who spent time living in a Muslim nation, wanting to bring the message of Jesus to anybody who would listen and was willing to hear it despite (you know) real dangers to myself and those who’d be willing to say such a thing. I share my faith _________. I just have this deep desire for people who come from a Muslim background because I understand them to a certain extent. I live a block from a mosque right now. Please pray for me that I will have the courage to act on this burden from God. I want to reach out for now, write a letter, make a phone call, just make an opening attempt of starting a relationship with some of those folks. And I don’t have any idea. I’ve never done something like that that’s so bold and direct and it scares me. It scares me, but I think the Lord is calling me into this. Just please pray for me, family. And I pray that all of you have every opportunity and use every opportunity to share the love of Jesus with everybody around you and I mean everybody.

Hey DAB family. This is John from Kansas City. I found out that I’m having surgery on Tuesday, unexpectedly this coming Tuesday right before Christmas and I want to have you guys lift me up. I know it’s always encouraging to me to hear other people being lifted up. I just want to thank you for all the prayers that have been said in the past. I know that there have been many. I can certainly appreciate all of the prayers that have been gone forth. I love this program and I think it’s a blessing. Please know that the one that answers these prayers is the Lord Jesus Christ and that’s the greatest thing, that he’s listening to our prayers. I love you, family. God bless.

Hey DABers, this is Forgiven up in Michigan and this is my holiday greeting. I want to reach out to Scott in Alaska and I wish that I was up there with you. But to all the people that I do mention, we are one in heart and I just love the fact that I have friends that I can pray for that I’ve never met but we have one thing in common and that’s our Lord. Drew in the Bay area, man, raise that little boy. Okay? We’re praying for you. I don’t have a son; I have two daughters. Blind Tony, you are a visionary and I always appreciate how real you keep it and I thank you so much for looking on the bright side of things. There’s a gentleman that called in from Alaska who was praying for his parents. Excuse me, Australia, who was praying for his parents. I want to reach out to him. I tell you, when we have family members that are lost, it hurts and I will definitely pray for you. I’m sorry I missed your name. Pastor Gene, what a wonderful influence you have down in Florida and I’m so glad that I hear your voice on the DAB and I thank you for your prayers. Please continue and know that I’m praying for you and your husband and everything that’s going on. Biola in Maryland, I love it when I hear you pray “in the name of Jesus.” I thank you so much for who you are as a person and I pray for you and your family in this holiday season. And Becky from Orlando, I have heard your voice. I pray for your job and you are an inspiration to me. Keep that smile. I know you have one. And I thank you so much, each and every one.

Hi DAB family, it’s Janet from Tennessee. I called for a couple of reasons. One, I’m sorry I have not called back sooner to ask for prayer for my sister Jeannie. I had been calling about her husband wanting to come over here from Turkey. I just kind of feel like with a lot of changes of events, Jeannie is really struggling in a spiritual battle that I think I had no idea. And I would just ask that you all pray for clarity for her, for the Lord to just pierce the darkness and let her see the light and see who’s really working in this situation. On a lighter note, I just wanted to ask everybody to welcome Lisa from Colorado onto the DAB, into the DAB family. I know she’s going to love it and I love her. I’ve known her (gosh) for 20-something years. Hard to believe that much time has gone by. But anyway, she’s a wonderful Christian lady and I know that she can use all of your support just like I use all of your support. We hold each other up. I love you, brothers and sisters. Have a wonderful, wonderful week.
