Discussions on Prayer

Who do you Pray to?
I have been dealing with this for some time, and I am a bit confused. Who do you pray to?

This may seem ignorant, trivial, unimportant or maybe not even necessary. I guess my question stems from unanswered prayers and my thinking that, perhaps, i have been praying incorrectly.

Do we pray to God, so we get the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all at once?
Do we pray to the Father, as Jesus said this is who we pray to?
Do we pray to Jesus, since he rules the earth and has the same power as the Father, since He showed Jesus how to do things?

Just wondering if there is a right way, or a way you all prefer to pray.

Thanks for your responses!

Ken, I have thought about this as well, and I am not sure there is one single answer. The mystery of the trininty is too much for our brains to handle, really. Jesus prayed to the Father, but that was when Jesus was on earth, before he was resurrected and seated next to the Father. But, all things have been given to the Son, right? And, Jesus said He would ask the Holy Spirit to come and comfort and counsel us. So, if I need some wisdom and counsel, do I ask the Father in Jesus' name? Do I just ask Jesus? Or, do I just say "Holy Spirit, I need some help here!"? Maybe it's all splitting hairs. I'm no expert. I hope someone else will offer their thoughts.

Communion is communication we are to talk to our Father just like calling dad or mom and he hears us. The Authority we use when binding a spirit is in Jesus Name. Jesus said we have not because we ask not. Believe me jesus is at the right hand of the Father and the Holy Spirit is here next to you and in you listening watching you if you are born again not of water but of Spirit. Its not your prayers that are not being heard because he said He will give us the desires of Our hearts, but when it comes to battle or facing the enemy this is where you stand in place of Jesus now with the Authority of Gods word and thePower of the Holy Spirit the Word becomes Life as you speak the word. stand firm always never let your doubt arrise in you because it is not that your not heard but it is not your timing always it is Gods Timing or there is always a reason that Maybe you have to be more persistant more angry at satan in asking but if it is according to Gods will It will happen in due time. No man has ever left a message before he died saying God never answered His Prayers.

I don't know either, lately I've been doing/saying this...

God the Father, Jesus the Son - King of Kings, and the Holy Spirit. But theologically speaking it's been a curiosity for quite a while now. So long as I take the time to clear my mind, focus my thoughts on spiritual connection...I can sense that my prayers are being delivered. Of course how they are answered is Gods will and we can't always know if what we ask for is what we truly need.

Cool topic. This has been one of the most amazing discoveries to me and coming as a direct result of “The Hope of Prayer”. I pray to the Trinity and will often address my prayers to “God the Trinity”. BUT, in the same prayer I will also pray to God the Father, and to Jesus the Lord, and to Holy Spirit.
First of all, God is one. So it is not as if the Father is left out if I address Jesus.
John 17: 20, 21, 22,… “as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, so also may they be in us…”; “ that they may be one, as we are one; I in them and thou in me, may they be perfectly one.”
Secondly, by praying to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I get to address the Godhead in ALL their unique qualities. For example, the Father as Creator, the Son as God/Human/ Advocate, the Holy Spirit as Guide. If anything, my prayer life has become much fuller as I pray to God in all his/their splendor(s).

I too struggle in this area. There is no doughty in mind that they all work together. But in my prayers I want to be clear and humble and give to each there proper reverence.
Father God for creating me by His own hand and loving me, Jesus for saving me and retuning me to the Heart of the Father "The Vail has been torn which had separated me from The Father" I am in Awe that when I pray I have access to the Thrown-room of the Creator of the Universe ,
the Holy Spirit for now living in my Heart for HE will finish the work that He has started in me. And I give HIM PRAISE
