Fundraising for the DAB & Partnerships
|
|
I found a way to raise money for the DAB and our partnerships. By using Ebay's "Giving Works" program, the DAB could set up an account through the Ebay partner "missionfish.org" so that individual user auctions on Ebay can be designated to send a percentage of the sale to the DAB.
Example: I list my item on Ebay and designate that 25% of the final selling price automatically goes to the DAB. After the sale, I would get a receipt from Ebay showing that I donated X amount of dollars to the DAB for a tax deductible gift.
Also, If the DAB wanted to sell their own "like kind donated gifts" or if Jill wanted to sell some of Brian's autographed socks on Ebay, then of course The DAB could have it's own official charitable account where 100% of the proceeds goes towards the DAB. Ebay greatly discounts listing fees, add-on fees and commissions for charitable accounts.
This could open up a whole bunch of new and creative opportunities for the DAB community to raise funds for the DAB. It will require Brian to set up an account at www.missionfish.org for us to designate our Ebay listings towards the DAB.
Any nonprofit can register with MissionFish for free. Here is what is needed for registration . . .
- A working email address - An electronic copy of your logo (jpg or gif format, 50kb maximum) - A mission statement of 512 characters maximum (about 40 words) - Your 501(c)(3) letter or other proof of tax-deductibility - A voided organization check

I will look into this idea. That sounds incredibly intriguing. I'd never heard of it before.

Is it possible to get more details or an image of the autographed socks? And what is the current bid?
