Daily Audio Proverb

Psalm 23 and Proverbs 23 and alcohol and want
I was kind of amazed the other day listening to Brian read Psalm 23, and then I listened to July 23 Daily Proverb, and I saw a wisdom lesson on what does and does not provide satisfaction. Maybe Mick Jagger is wrong and there is something that can provide satisfaction.

Psalm 23:1 (The MSG)

1-3 God, my shepherd! I don't need a thing.
You have bedded me down in lush meadows,
you find me quiet pools to drink from.
True to your word,
you let me catch my breath
and send me in the right direction.

Proverbs 23:29-35 NKJV

29 Who has woe?
Who has sorrow?
Who has contentions?
Who has complaints?
Who has wounds without cause?
Who has redness of eyes?
30 Those who linger long at the wine,
Those who go in search of mixed wine.
31 Do not look on the wine when it is red,
When it sparkles in the cup,
When it swirls around smoothly;
32 At the last it bites like a serpent,
And stings like a viper.
33 Your eyes will see strange things,
And your heart will utter perverse things.
34 Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea,
Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying:
"They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?"

I think that there are 2 biblical positions on Christians and alcohol - abstinence or moderation. We need to be very careful not to over-indulge if we choose the moderation route because the American culture is not very moderate!

Hey Mark~ I enjoyed your comments here. Mick Jagger wrong? :)

100% agreement on American culture = over indulge!

Thank you for posting this. It is very cool how it all comes together!

I like the connection too and mentally made note at the time of the first hearing. I am so glad you took the time to put it into words.
