Tom, I am not interested in learning about your Mennonite beliefs.

Kidding.

Wow I had completely forgotten about that email thread. Maybe I should get back to it now!
Kelley 11/03/2010 15:25
Well... you go to a Mennonite church? confusion.....?
Calico 11/03/2010 16:00

Kelley:
I really hope and pray you find a place to worship our LORD soon, it broke my heart knowing that you're unchurched now; I think it's very important to be in fellowship with other Christians...for encouragement, influence and healthy friendship. If you allow me, I'd like to share a story with you: A couple of years ago I moved back home where I didn't really know anything about Christians, all my prayer friends were joining me asking for a home church. Guess what? My Lord used a truck -long story- to show me my current church. I'm not 100% happy there as I was in my former church but knowing that it was HIS choice makes me glad. (I serve in the SS).

Craig from Illinois:
Thank you, you were very generous in responding my curious question. I like to learn new things every time.
I got to see the people involved here in this thread's profiles and that was nice. I'll try to find a picture of myself -with not so much close-up- to post it.
Hey! your little boy is cuuuuuuute!!!!

The Meeting House with Pastor Bruxy is Brethren in Christ, not Mennonite. (I can't tell the difference either) But they are both Anabaptist. My forefathers were Catholic, converted to Anabaptist and then driven out by the state run Catholics. (Germany/France/Swiss regions) I hold no grudges for the events of the 1500's Andre.

Dear Calico:
Thank you so very much for your kind message, I do appreciate it and the fact that you read minds: This very morning I was talking to the Lord about my participation in a virtual community (a couple of reasons). I have NO doubt everyone is just nice people though. As I'm from the land of the best coffee of the world, it's very important for me to get together with fellow Christians, have a cup of coffee and talk about God stuff, (not religion as I got far away from it a long time ago), so I do.
I have a problem: I know where to start but never know when to finish my writings therefore I don't want to keep on writing about myself, boring people around here.
But you made me feel "special" when you addressed my original concern of need for encouragement. God bless you brother! Please feel free to share this with your precious daughter. I will be praying for her (name?).
I have been fasting, praying and practicing some spiritual disciplines trying to fight the “lonely road”. My LORD has used different avenues to let me know HE is right here; I've gotten His Grace and His peace in abundance, so I'm learning to be quiet and to reflect Him although this is NOT easy. I'm trying to get rid of the guilt for not being a good evangelist; again trying and learning, trying and learning, for HIM, Christ.
Thank you for praying with me.

Aida, thank you for your sweet prayers! You are a joy to have amongst us! Hug!
Calico 11/04/2010 18:18
Hey Aida,

Thanks, sister! I am blessed that YOU were blessed by what we share here. It's good to hear that you resonated with this need for community. Don't feel that you are "boring" anyone as you write more about your life and journey. This is how DAB brothers and sisters can come to know one another. :-)

I did share with my daughter last night about this thread, so she might check it out as well (midterm exams though, at this time of the year in Canada). She is found in the community listings, just under my own listing. A week or so ago she had invited me to a Navigators function happening at her campus in a couple of weeks where interestingly enough, she too misspoke when text-messaged me saying "It's a gathering thing, where Christians and Catholics are getting together." I text-messaged her a hug back, and said "Catholics ARE Christians, hun!" and we both had a laugh about it. I offered to her that it will be good to keep our hearts and mind available and open for what we can glean from the gathering: "Always rejoice. Pray without ceasing. In all things give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you all. Extinguish not the spirit. Despise not prophecies. But prove all things: hold fast that which is good." (1 Thess. 5:16 - 21). I am looking forward to it, and bet it will be a great night!

Also: you wrote this, "I'm trying to get rid of the guilt for not being a good evangelist; again trying and learning, trying and learning, for HIM, Christ." Awesome! I have something to share with you, if you are up for it, that you might thoroughly enjoy regarding evangelism. If you have an iPod and iTunes (I assume you do), you can follow this link (http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-meeting-house-audiocast/id102719807) to download a series of podcasts, entitled "Say What?" from the pastor Craig mentioned, Bruxy Cavey. They can be found at the upload dates from 5/30/10 through to 7/19/10. iTunes also loads the teaching notes and sermon quotes in .pdf forms, and gives you a choice to click on those to download both (very, very useful! great tools to prompt "thinking-on" as you go through the listening!).

Several people here at DAB have listened along to that series and have found it practical and useful. I know I did.

Praying with you,

Tom

P.S. Are you reading through Dallas Willard's book on spiritual disciplines?
Estrellita 11/04/2010 19:12
Calico:
You keep on reading minds, what's up with that??
Yes, I am finishing Renovation of the Heart by D Willard. Definitely a teaching on spiritual disciplines (one of the avenues the LORD chose for me).
Thanks for sharing about your daughter's things, enjoy your U gathering with her!
And thanks for the info on pastor Cavey's preach, I have listened to him on WAVA.com or oneplace.com (not sure), these are the 2 radio stations I listen to on my LC as I don't have an iPod. I'll look for it on line anyway.
