I basically agree with Wesley's Commentary, I think. He was apparently not a disciple. But he must have heard the commotion, and perhaps jumped out of bed to see what was up. Isn't it interesting that the young men could grab hold of him, who was not a disciple, but didn't grab hold of the disciples in the area?

That's interesting. I've never noticed that part before!

Tom, do you mean you find it interesting that the disciples weren't snagged because they were all supposed to desert Jesus, according to what was prophesied?

I think that was what I meant. I think it is interesting that at this point in the Gospel, the disciples aren't grabbed by the crowd, but this other young man, apparently stepping out to see what was going on, is almost grabbed by the crowd. Not a big point but just a minor observation I was making. At this point the disciples seem to be very protected.

Interesting.

"Who was that young man??"

The tradition I've always read and heard
was that he was Mark, the writer of the Gospel of Mark.

Lanny, I was just thinking that. I wonder if it was Mark, the author.
