JE's post today, I suppose this is the argument I came back to at the woodpile. I think seeing life this way makes our daily steps seem critical and because they are seen as critical, we step up more, we don't do the ordinary. It seems true:

In this desperate hour we have a crucial role to play. Of all the Eternal Truths we don't believe, this is the one we doubt most of all. Our days are not extraordinary. They are filled with the mundane, with hassles mostly. And we? We are . . . a dime a dozen. Nothing special really. Probably a disappointment to God. But as

C. S. Lewis wrote, "The value of . . . myth is that it takes all the things we know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by 'the veil of familiarity.'" You are not what you think you are. There is a glory to your life that your Enemy fears, and he is hell-bent on destroying that glory before you act on it. This part of the answer will sound unbelievable at first; perhaps it will sound too good to be true; certainly, you will wonder if it is true for you. But once you begin to see with those eyes, once you have begun to know it is true from the bottom of your heart, it will change everything.

The story of your life is the story of the long and brutal assault on your heart by the one who knows what you could be and fears it.

What a wonderful topic - prayer certainly is an essential thing. I remember learning and reading about how the spirit will assist us with things. I can't remember exactly how it was written, but it said with moans and things without words. The teaching explained that God can take our simple prayers and give out what we really need instead - that the Holy Spirit can help us to pray. This doesn't really sound like it makes a lot of sense the way I'm writing it here. Yes, prayer is important, it is a discipline as well since it can be hard work. God is a perfect God and his will is the best for us -- we will be safest and most full of joy in the centre of his will - so definitely praying that we're on that narrow path is a good thing.

Blessings,
John

I'm just re-downloading the hope of prayer again. It's been a year - it's time I listen again!

Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

PRAYER OPENS THE DOOR FOR GOD TO WORK: The most effective thing any of us can do is pray..prayer opens the door for God to work..If we dont pray God can not work in our life..whenever i get away from prayer i become worried and i start to work out of the flesh, which means im trying to do Gods work..we have to remember that God can make something happen in a split moment that we can't in years and years..we have to stop working on things and not praying about them..that is the reason we become so tired and worn out..everytime you get frustrated, pray..worried, pray..scared or alone, pray..Pray your way through the day.

Excellent question.

I believe that if we intune with HIM our will WILL be HIS. However HE will grant you your own desires if you ask.

The more you know HIM the more you understand.

Intamacy is important DO your BEST to hold on to it.

What's the Point of Praying if you're going to say: "Your Will Be Done?"

Hi shaun

Jesus said “your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” (Matthew 6:8)

To understand prayer we must discard the idea of asking God for the things or situations that we need and instead realize that all of our problems come when we violate the truth and separate ourselves from His love. True prayer then becomes the process of aligning ourselves with the Truth and His love.

The Lord’s prayer; (Matthew 6:9-13) is comprised of seven clauses and a closing proclamation which were carefully constructed to to bring us into harmony with the Truth and the love of God. The fourth clause “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” aligns us with His perfect will.

Wow that's a good answer!

I've been digesting these answers, thanks!!

Maybe my question should have been "what's the point of asking God for anything, if he will already decide (on his own) if it is "in his will" to give it to you or not."

Since my previous question has posted, i have been digging:....Joyce Meyer book on prayer and Purpose Driven Life. These have enlightened me a bit (i.e. Jacob wrestling with God and Lot pleading with God were both very interesting)

it seems that we DO have a say in the matters of God.

i do talk to God a lot. I am a big nature person. i really REALLY appreciate the beauty of this world he has created and compliment (praise) Him all the time for it.

i appreciate the hardships he is letting me go through because they are building me (at his rate, uggh) and I thank Him for what he is doing in me.

I have a long background in Christian teaching and know a lot. I am now listening to teaching instead of hearing.....and i'm hungry for it.

I have trouble praying publicly (or even with my wife). Because of our separate backgrounds, I am the spiritual leader of my wife and I.

We have been trying for a baby for two years now (doctors and all). We just prayed for the first time together (EVER) the other day. I had to teach her that it's just telling God what you want and how you feel.....She had some trouble getting ANY words out, but she did it. It was a break through for us, and I have to be bold again and again till it isn't so awkward.

How come the more you learn about and more importantly GET TO KNOW God; the more you find out how much of a mystery His ways are. Nothing seems to be direct with him. It's Waiting, and waiting, and searching.....(.......developing me........)

again....uggh...

If you made it all the way through this post. Thanks.

Thoughts?

I am not a big teacher and this is what I see. Each one of us is on a journey. God will reveal to you things differently than He will reveal to me. Each one of us lives in an area which becomes their battlefield. God is with each one of us and in your life Shaun God is teaching you to talk to him loudly,
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart". Heb 4:12
We always want to reason everything out. Sometimes too much reasoning brings us more harm then joy.
I believe that you have to look at the heart and now that you and your wife had the breakthrough to pray with one another and loud, is that what God wants for you maybe.
He want us to dig deep into hour hearts and minds and He wants us to reveal Himself to you differently then to me. We all a part of the big Puzzle. Is you piece of the puzzle working to fit in perfectly? Podcasts, books and mostly the Word of God helps each one to be shaped into the Image of God what He actually created us to be.
