Bible Questions and Spiritual Discussion

What stood out in todays reading?
Thorn in my eye/Reflection
Numbers 33:40-35:34; Luke 5:12-28; Psalm 65:1-13; Proverbs 11:23 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

55 But if you don't drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those you allow to remain will become thorns in your eyes and in your sides; they will harass you in the land where you will live. 56 And what I had planned to do to them, I will do to you." (N)

What a powerful verse Lord. How many people and situations have we been told by God to flea from or speak out against yet here we stay. I'm familiar with the thorn in the side and and plank in the eye but what a picture. A thorn in my eye. What pain, tears and totally distracting. A thorn in the side can be worked around. Yet in the eye. You won't be going anywhere with that aggravation. Then to think on top of all this pain and distraction these people you allow to stay in your life are going harass you. Oh how I would like to use this verse to support my plight. Yet this verse isn't for the putting out of those that are a thorn in my side. I feel much like Paul "or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me." (2 Cor 12:7)

Numbers 34

26 "If the one who kills someone ever goes outside the border of the city of refuge he fled to, 27 and the avenger of blood finds him outside the border of his city of refuge and kills him, the avenger will not be guilty of bloodshed,

What compassion the Lord had for those grieving. To not hold them accountable if the one that kills their kin walks in front of them free. For the pain the family feels for an accidental death is still a great pain.

Luke

15 But the news [b] about Him spread even more, and large crowds would come together to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 Yet He often withdrew to deserted places and prayed.

I thank you Jesus for the model you set for us, set apart time to pray and seek you. That it is in these places alone with you that we find strength and courage.
