If Jesus is the archangel Michael or any other form of a human with divine insight, then He is a created being and not God, since God created all things. John 1:1-3 "1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made." Jesus is the Word of God, therefor He IS God and cannot be a created being of any kind. They believe that God created Jesus first and only, but then Jesus created everything else, as the right hand of God. This was Jesus' job as a created being. They are quick to point out that this passage says all things were made by Him, but they do not acknowledge that it says the He WAS God, not created BY God to create everything else.

Their argument that the name "Michael" means one who is like God so therefore Jesus is Michael because He was like God in creating the world yet still not God, is very weak at best and proven untrue by John 1:1-3. They must deny the deity of Jesus to negate the work of the cross. They do this by making Him a creation rather than the Creator. Once they can establish that Jesus is not God then salvation via the cross as a free gift of God through forgiveness of sins by grace alone disappears. And that is their goal - to destroy the belief that Jesus is God. It is the same goal of all false religions and belief systems - to destroy the belief that Jesus is God. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. If you ever want to know if a religion is true, false, or a cult - look at their beliefs about Jesus. Anything that denies His divinity as God Himself or removes salvation via the cross as a free gift of grace is false.

Since JWs control their followers through the doctrine of salvation by works alone, available only to a limited number of worthy individuals, salvation as a free gift to ALL through the birth, death, and resurrection of God Himself (Jesus) in the flesh on the behalf of His creation is a threat to everything thing they believe and every dollar they accrue. The spilling of Jesus' blood as the only true innocent sacrifice in all of time and Christ's resurrection that conquered death for eternity - these acts love freely given - completely destroy their man-made doctrine of works alone and their ability to manipulate people into devoting their entire lives to working for the JWs kingdom on earth. Why devote your entire life to working for a cause to the point of denouncing your entire family and all your loved ones if they do not believe the same - all in the hopes of maybe becoming one of the 144,000 chosen for heaven - if Jesus really is God and He offers salvation free through grace to ALL??? Seriously. They and all cults like them, including the Mormons, must deny Jesus as God or their religions will make no sense to any but the blind, truly wicked, or the insane.

It's all about power. They want it. Jesus has it. They must destroy Him to get it. They've already lost. Now we must rescue the sheep.

WOW Debs, you know so much stuff! thanks, I'm a bit worried as I like my friends and if I don't believe what they believe will they stop being my friend?? It's kind of scary to think that however if that is so then fine.

They have invited me to a service at Kingdom Hall for Easter or Memorial as they don't celebrate Easter or do communion. I asked why then they quoted Matthew where Jesus said HE will not partake of fruit of the vine.... then I pointed out Luke where HE said do this in memory of me. Then I asked them about the bit in Revelation where it said the 144000 will be virgins??? And then I asked them why don't they celebrate Easter as Jesus was celebrating the Passover at the time.

I think they are directed at people who don't really know the bible however it is very scary to think there are thousands of people been led ashtray.

Anyways thanks again Debs

Love ya

Sarajane, What Deb said is right on. I'll add some more ammo for you. The whole of the first chapter of Hebrews deals on just this subject. Paul says in no uncertain terms that Jesus is not an Angel. The Jehovah Witnesses also accepts all versions of the Bible believing in the end they will all come together into a final truth. I have also read their version of the Bible and there is little difference in their translation so you can point out the first chapter of Hebrews to them in their own version. I'm posting the whole chapter for you here. It speaks for itself:

Heb 1:1 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets.
Heb 1:2 And now in these final days, He has spoken to us through His Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son He created the universe.
Heb 1:3 The Son radiates God's own glory and expresses the very character of God, and He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command. When He had cleansed us from our sins, He sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
Heb 1:4 This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave Him is greater than their names.
Heb 1:5 For God never said to any angel what He said to Jesus: "You are My Son. Today I have become Your Father. " God also said, "I will be His Father, and He will be My Son."
Heb 1:6 And when He brought His supreme Son into the world, God said, "Let all of God's angels worship Him."
Heb 1:7 Regarding the angels, He says, "He sends His angels like the winds, His servants like flames of fire."
Heb 1:8 But to the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.
Heb 1:9 You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, Your God has anointed You, pouring out the oil of joy on You more than on anyone else."
Heb 1:10 He also says to the Son, "In the beginning, Lord, You laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with Your hands.
Heb 1:11 They will perish, but You remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing.
Heb 1:12 You will fold them up like a cloak and discard them like old clothing. But You are always the same; You will live forever."
Heb 1:13 And God never said to any of the angels, "Sit in the place of honor at My right hand until I humble Your enemies, making them a footstool under Your feet."
Heb 1:14 Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.

I just wouldn't listen to those rigoristic legalists.
Bibleman 04/06/2011 20:19

Bibleman 04/06/2011 20:22

Bibleman 04/06/2011 20:22
