Ark of The Covenant Found!
I love doing science research to learn more about our God. I came across somebody that mentioned the Ark being found, so I immediately turned my research onto the Ark. I found a ton of information about this Ark, but even better, I found somebody that tried to prove it wrong.

Yes, I watch the Naked Archeologist and he had an episode where he went indepth into this and someone said it was in a church in Egypt. Sounds funny to me. Felt God guiding me to watch it and then when I heard that, it was too easy.

Thought the information might help. It has disapeared and really no one knows where it is.

Hope that help.

I was looking into the disposition of the Ark myself recently. In 2 Mac 2 The story is told of the ark being sent to a cave in the mountain that Moses surveyed the promised land from. When some men go to try to find it they are told that it is to remain unknown until God shows his mercy.

I am never quite sure how the so called apocrypha are treated by the protestant segments of Christianity. In citing that passge to a colleague in work who asked the question, I took some criticism from some who seem to have a problem with the RC segment of Christianity.

I do hope this is not considered divisive here.

The whole archeology thing can be interesting to settle with Faith.

Hi Ian! Welcome to the forum. These people are very charitable and there are a couple of us Catholics around here. Stay awhile!

I recall a verse in either Isaiah, Jeremiah or Ezekiel where God said "you will never look for the ark of the covenant again, nor will it be necessary".

and somehow we still try to find it.

And furthermore, Ian, while I am a united methodist, I have a love for the deuterocannon myself, and I certainly have no problem with Catholicism.

Jeremiah 3:16
In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,” declares the LORD, “people will no longer say, ‘The ark of the covenant of the LORD.’ It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made.

It also says that the thought of the Ark will NEVER enter their minds or be remembered.

so, is this literally unfulfilled prophecy, or a poetic phrase about where our focus should be as believers (not on artifacts so much as on loving one another), or is it something else?
Catholica 05/31/2011 10:10
That is an interesting verse from Jeremiah. I think that its fulfillment is in Jesus, because the Ark was an instrument of both worship and power before the Jewish people, and a container of God's presence. Now we no longer need the Ark because we have something better, and that is God himself in our bodies. We are now the tabernacles of the Lord.

I would say that to take the verse in the wrong way is dangerous, because in Rev. 19 the ark of the covenant does enter the mind of John the Apostle and he does remember it. To me that means the literal sense of the verse means that the Ark has been replaced and is no longer needed, so why would anyone think about it?

Andre,

I have looked through Rev 19 and do not see any mention to the Ark of the Covenant. Could you please point out the exact section that you are refer to?
