Easy one about Herod...

Is King Herod when Jesus was born the same King Herod when Jesus was crucified? I watched "The Passion Of The Christ" around Easter and that's when the question first came to me. The character depicted in the movie seemed a little too young, even a peer to a 33 year old Jesus. Just curious...

nope. Different kings. the one from when Jesus was born, the bible itself says he died before Jesus went back to grow in Nazareth (because they were afraid Herod would kill him) The Herod in the movie was Herod Antipas, not Herod the Great (the king at the time of Jesus' birth). Antipas was his son (one of several, from several different wives.)

Oh yes... I remember now that Herod the Great died when Jesus was a boy. I should have known since I read that part about once every 2 months to my 4 year old... :)
