Bible Questions and Spiritual Discussion

Dear all - I'm not quite sure where to place this?
Admission first off - yes I drink alcohol regularly and perhaps ought to cut down, but that isn't relevant to the current discussion.

In my local, the landlord's wife is dying of something horrible - I don't know the details (and haven't asked) but she still has her cognitive functions but is wheelchair bound.

I know the general points - suffering is part of the fall, we can't know why a particular individual suffers, however we know Romans 8:28 so if we ask, 'For what purpose?' that might be more helpful than, 'Why?'

However - what should I be saying/doing as a Christian among the landlord, his family, staff and guests who don't know Christ (as far as I know)?

Love and serve them any way you can. Visit, bring meals, pray, offer help.

I agree with Marcie. These are common sense ideas that she is offering. What would you do if this woman was your own mother, sister or daughter? All she desires is respect, dignity and love - not to be the focus of a Christian project. If you act out of love and not out of duty, you will be alright.

yeah, don't try to have the answers, be the answer with your love. Pray as you go for what to do next. It's amazing how God will be in your midst one step at a time. Don't assume today is the same as yesterday. Ask for today. You are in a very cool spot, thank Him for it even if it doesn't feel like it.

Keep us posted, Claire.

great suggestions all. to me, being a follower of Christ means you share food, spirit, you wash feet with your tears and your hair .... many examples in the bible. In other words, if your fellow man has a need, fill it. Sometimes, when things are really dier, just being with someone is great comfort. Even if you don't say a thing. Our souls communicate at a level I cannot describe. love on Claire!
