Tell Us About Yourself and What the DAB Means To You

Hi Heidi! i love meeting other Heidis. They told me if you don't read the bible yourself that you couldn't glean anything from the word. That God wouldn't speak to you. There were many other things they told me over time that I have now rejected. They need prayer desperately. I think sometimes when we teach others we think what works best for us works best. I pray God will open their eyes to the blessing this is.

Welcome Heidi.
I use to think that since listening to the Bible wasn't "studying the Bible" that it "didn't count". I was wrong and so are your mentors. If you are listening and responsive to what you hear God say then I think you would make any Believer a great mentor. Even better would be for you to mentor your former (I hope they are former) mentors.

I Love it too. :)
ya know... when I first started listening, I felt like I was cheating, by listening and not doing the work myself. But I was so wrong! After 3 years now, not only has it kept me in the Word every day, but it pushes me to study deeper on my own. Win/win! :D

ANOTHER HEIDI!!!! GAH!!!!
:-P
Nice to meetcha, Heidi. It's wonderful to have you announce your presence after 4yrs.! What took you so long? :-)
Of what your mentors have said, I am thinking that perhaps this might quiet them on "whether DAB doesn't count" and have them reconsider what purpose DAB might have, as A PART of one's life in Christ:
"If you PUT THESE THINGS BEFORE THE BROTHERS, YOU WILL BE A GOOD SERVANT OF CHRIST JESUS, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed. Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather TRAIN YOURSELF FOR GODLINESS, for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is OF VALUE IN EVERY WAY, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. COMMAND AND TEACH THESE THINGS. Let no one despise you for your youth, but SET THE BELIEVERS AN EXAMPLE IN SPEECH, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Until I come, DEVOTE YOURSELF TO THE PUBLIC READING OF SCRIPTURE, to exhortation, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. PRACTICE THESE THINGS, DEVOTE YOURSELF TO THEM, so that all may SEE your progress. Keep a close watch on yourself AND ON THE TEACHING. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself AND YOUR HEARERS." (1 Tim. 4:6 - 16; ESV, with emphasis added)
Lots in there about "speaking and reading" and "teaching and training" and "hearing," I believe. :-)
"Remember your leaders, those who SPOKE TO YOU the word of God. Consider the OUTCOME of their way of life, and IMITATE THEIR FAITH." (Heb. 13:7; ESV, with emphasis again)
Keep going, Heidi! Continue to connect with us! We are all the better off having you with us!
Praying with you,
Tom

I didn't connect 4 yrs ago because I didn't really know about the website then but Somethings have happened in the pasted months that drew me closer to DAB family. I am very excited to find people all over that love each other as Jesus has loved us. It lightens my heart after some betrayal I have felt from fellow believers. So thank you all. I feel so blessed right now.

Hello Heidi!
It is nice to meet you. I was born & raised in Bozeman, but have lived in South Carolina for the last 14 years. But miss my home state. I just discovered DAB in August so I am new to the community. I listen to DAB as I read my EVS study bible. I guess I need both my hearing and eyes to connect to the words of God, but I really feel your mentors were wrong in their thoughts/statements. I believe that if we have faith and desire to seek our Lord we will find HIM in any format. Whether that be a church pew, Bible study or the internet. I know God will just be happy you walk with HIM.
Bless you,
Sandy

Thank you for your encouragement. I went to college in Bozeman. I agree that they were wrong. I am trying to encourage them to use Dab too. Sometimes people critize what they don't understand. I am a very auditory person. Dab is perfect for me. I realize it doesn't work for everyone. So it's all good.

Heidi I have met you and chatted with you a few times in the Cafe Chat room. Wow you were in with the very beginning of DAB. That is wonderful my brother in Houston TX told me about it a few years ago 2009 but he didn't tell me it was free and available on the internet so I just found out about it while browsing in the iTunes podcasts this past July. Sorry you mentors steered you away from DAB but glad you came back. I have enjoyed the community here there are so many ppl from all over who love the Bible and the Lord so refreshing to be involved with "like minded" people, who may not always agree but can agree to disagree. I live in NC but was born and raised in Texas so I know what Sandy means when she says she misses her home state. Texas is a lot like Montana lots of wide hope spaces. I am also an amateur musician have been for about 40 years lol I play flute, guitar, bass, and percussion. But I can't say I play any of them proficiently although I have played my bass, percussion and flute in a church praise team once. So at least I can keep time and rhythm going lol. Sorry to hear of your recent troubles and pray you will be able to forgive your betrayer/s. Welcome back to the DAB community look forward to getting to know you better in the Lord. Luv ya JD
