Tell Us About Yourself and What the DAB Means To You
I'M GOING TO MAKE IT!!!!!!
|
|
I wish I had the capability to sing in a comment box! I had logged on to a chat room but no one was abailable and I just had to tell someone... I'm going to make it! After 34 years of trying... I am going to make it through the Bible this year...(singing singing, singing) I have been trying for so long and feeling like such a failure because of failing.... but this year thanks to DAB I only have 4 days to go! Brian said the other day... "finish strong" I feel like the runner who gets the burst of speed at the end of the race! (singing, singing, singing) Psalm 28: 6&7 Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy,and with my song I praise him.

The neat thing is, I think the second time around is even better, because you know how the story ends!

Right..lol atleast it has a happy ending. Do you read alot of books? I do not like to get up early..): BUT every passage in the Bible is like " early in the morning" so there has gotta be something to it..so I am going to make that a priority. To get in the Word first thing in the morning..

Nice, Lor!
What a wonderful way for God to have blessed you, amen? I love what you've said about "'finishing strong' ...I feel like the runner who gets the burst of speed at the end of the race! (singing, singing, singing)"
Indeed! As we take in the Word of God to nourish on and gain strength from, so much of what the Spirit imparts to us in our daily reading is training for living-out the way Jesus lives.
The concept of an athlete in training for running is but one image we can dwell upon in our minds: "Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified." (1 Cor. 9:24 - 27; ESV). And as a matter of the WHO that is doing the training, Jesus said "...learn from Me..." (Matt. 11:29a; ESV).
And now that you're beginning a run through your second year of being in God's Word, I am going to second Tina's thoughts about not only listening along, but also read-read-reading it. :-)
In this way, by your having run this far to this finish line, consider too: you can also now engage into the DAB community even further, bringing out more of your run-training experience. Through your experience, you can show others (those who are already here, and those who are still to come) the HOW-TO of what you've been able to run. Your how-to experience can impact the lives of many here, Lor. Consider it! :-)
Praying with you,
Tom
P.S. - And keep trying the chat! Someone will be along at some point! :-)
